When I saw Cheep Cheep Beach for the first time in over a decade, It made me remember a story. I never had this game on my DSI. But I would play the multiplayer all the time with my cousin. He had the game and was really good at it too. I still remember playing as some different colored shy guy in the standard kart. I wasn't that good at the game but still had fun. I remember I was the pink shy guy for the race. I was in most likely in 5th or 4th place, I wasn't the worst but I was decent. Cheep Cheep beach appears. I know that he was gonna win this race, like he always did, but this was my FAVORITE track. So I felt pretty confident. He would always play as dry bones with the dry bones kart. I don't remember what it was called. He said it had "The Most Acceleration." So the race starts. As usual, I'm in 4th place. Then, I'm in 3rd.. Then 2nd! If I get first place and he gets last, I'll win the cup. He's pretty close to me and so was the other computers. Then I get a Blue shell. Delight spreads across my face. I throw it at him, It goes like a billion mph and explodes just before he managed to cross the Finish Line. I pass him and so do all the other computers do. I'm shocked. I, a player who doesn't even know how to drift in the game beat him. I got first place and he got 8th. I won. I won the cup. He looks at me with absolute rage. His blood, boiling. With rage and anger he chucked his Nintendo DS Lite across my room and it smashed against the wall. Not even his foam Blue Nerf Case could stop it. I look at him as he stormed out of my room with his broken Nintendo DS Lite and realized, "What a Sore Loser." I remember saying that to myself. "What a Sore Loser." But winning had a consequence. That was the last time I played Mario Kart DS. EDIT: One thing I miss from that game is that the Blue shell Travels literally light speed to first place.

this game IS my whole childhood. i remember my mom getting me a ds with mario kart and a littlest pet shop game, and that night i didn’t go to sleep, but instead played mario kart the whole time. haven’t played it in ages, but the music and the sounds feel like i still hear them everyday. truly such an amazing game, especially the missions mode!

Man I remember when the DS first came out. My brother and I both got one and played Super Mario 64 all night before sending each other funny pictochats. Texting isn't the same as hopping into the same room and having limitations. Stuff now is boring because you have everything at your disposal. Having to catch a TV show at a certain time or making sure you recorded it on vhs was a whole rewarding experience. You valued every tape you had, and had to contemplate if you want to record over am old show, not knowing when you will see it next. Omg what an experience. Those were the days and the DS was so huge. Being able to play games with such good graphics portable. Playstation Vita absolutely destroyed the DS though. I have so many of those tiny psp movie dvds.. and I am so glad I bought them. I think I watched The Devils Rejects about 100 times on that little screen before I had to sleep for school.

Yea, DS was one of Nintendo's greatest consoles, I heard there was like an animation app on it even, that I haven't heard about until like a year or two back, idk why I never came across it, I guess I was just really busy playing Mario Kart with my bro, I don't know, I guess everyone has different experiences.
