I think the first thing is what you, us players, should learn is, don't pay rubies for a level up! Only pay rubies for a NEW character, kart or glider. Level up with tickets only.

The free 45 rubies for new players has been upped to 150, and you also get an additional 210 from the first time login bonuses which I'm pretty sure is increased as well

@@Saselder I'm not sure if the returning player ruby amount has changed, I'm just talking about what you get after the tutorial as a brand new player I'd *expect* returning players to get more than 45 too though

About the total points challenge: The average score per track needed for the 3 interesting goals is: 1m/45=22.2k 800k/45=17.7k 700k/45=15.5k For reference, before the update, the equivalents were: 900k/36=25k 700k/36=19.4 600k/36=16.7k Sure, more cups means more grinding, but overall it's easier for everyone to achieve these challenges.

I think I'm right on this, but correct me if I'm wrong. So what I've taken away from the daily spotlight shop is that if you already have the item you want a duplicate of, it is actually better to buy the x10 coin rush option with 25 rubies 4 times (100 rubies karts/gliders in the shop) so you can get 16000+ coins. You can buy a daily select HE ticket for 10,000 coins and save 6000 coins for the next purchase. Even buying the tier shop HE ticket will save you 3000 coins. It's even better for drivers because you buy the x10 coin rush option 6 times (150 rubies) for 24000 coins. You can buy DS driver tickets for 12k and have 12k leftover for another ticket, or tier shop you would have 9k leftover. So really, this daily spotlight shop is good for getting items for the first time, at least if you're playing the long game to save your resources and use them the best you can.

Great info pepper. Makes me glad I pulled on the pipes as much as possible. My 225 rubies got me 6 drivers 2 weeks ago, this week it would have got me 1.5 drivers. So a saving of... a lot of rubies!!

I think you should do a video on the probabilities of any given item showing up on a given day/week/tour in the spotlight shop. Knowing how long you might need to wait for something would be very useful for a number of different scenarios. That kind of data and analysis would be right up your alley.

I was in multiplayer around 3 to 4AM Eastern time (3 to 4PM here), and didn't notice anything unusual, except for the typical high volatility in Level S+ grades. I'm trying to reach Leval S+6. The Battle mode was new, and of course difficult until you get a handle on what to do. Starting out from Level A +0% makes it pretty difficult to lose anything.

I have been AVOIDING Gold Races ever since January (when I reached Level S2) because of high losses (-5-7% in a single race) due to "communication errors". By being careful about WHEN I entered the Gold Races, I was eventually able to work up to my present Level S5.

Excellent breakdown and discussion about the update. I feel like they took all the ability away for F2P players to compete at all with how few rubies they can collect each tour. At least with the Pipes they had a chance to get lucky and get something early. They may have to wait 3 tours before they can buy anything from the shop if they don't have any rubies now. In general I like the update I just feel they are off the mark on the balance between ruby cost and available rubies.

Free to play will still be able to compete, that I can promise you. It will just require a greater degree of strategy and discipline. This system is superior provided players maximize everything towards their goals.

@@KevinGarrettGaming that’s true, the average player that may not know all the best strategies will struggle. It would be nice if Nintendo adds a little balancing from this update. I think getting the newest items is probably going to be the most important thing going forward. Not all items but those being the main focus.

Nice to watch your reveal. There is so much info going around about how you shouldn’t use your rubees for levelling up and to buy coin rush with rubees. I am a bit baffled on everything. After you have analysed everything fully would be nice to see a video on how to strategise everything with the new changes.

Throttle is real for the last two tours. I guess I'm going to kep tiering down as I am not throwing away my resources for 5 extra rubies and bunch of items I will never use.

With the abundance of green pipes you can earn between multiplayer, an event, and tour gifts, at least some people will obtain more rubies than others per tour. Also I'm Tier 7 atm and the ruby amounts for 1st, 2nd and 3rd are 20,15, and 10 respectively. Though the cart is only offered for 1st place.

What is the best way to figure out which drivers, karts and gliders I should level up for most coverage? I have some at level 3 with overlap which is a shame and don't want to use my tickets up on stuff that isn't useful. Probably a hard question to answer though
