Mario Kart Wii - Best Players in Time Trials History

Total record duration is the sum of the duration (in days) of all world records the player has set since the game released. This includes both shortcut and non-shortcut records.
There are many different player ranking systems that exist in MKW. Total record duration is used in this since the duration of a record is a good indicator of the record's strength and thus the player. This of course comes at the risk of misrepresenting recent world records that have not lasted very long - which is why a chart of multiple WR holders is included.
Another plan was to use the time sum of personal bests across all tracks. This however excluded many top players that had their focus on a few, select tracks.

@@tony6666 That's debatable but ok. Fox has held 10 WRs at once at the end of 2015. Impressive, right? But Luke is currently holding *12* WRs almost 5 years later. In those 5 years, WRs have been optimized a good chunk as well.

@Spencer Sassak foxes past dominance would have shown as presenting data over time like this is usually pretty good at showing periods where one person dominates. a retired time trailer should not deserve number one at this moment in time, he doesn't even have a single world record to his name currently. someone like luke clearly deserves the number one spot and it annoys me that people are always looking down at him like he's somehow a worse version of fox when he is clearly a better mario kart player right now.

When fox played the wrs were less optimized, therefore easier to get. Right now you can’t just, sit down play a track for 1,5-2 week and boom wr!

it’s a shame I took my 2-3 year break right before Fox began his reign. really wish i’d been able to see it. But at least I can be glad that I came back in time to witness the beast that is Luke. Wonder how long till he takes that #1 total duration spot from Fox.

You can see all the MKDS wifi legends at the beginning. Kabi-MAX was a WS World record holder and great wifi player, Mander was involved in a bit of controversy. Fabien as well. Unreal there too, who actually came back recently and is still playing Wi-Fi.

Used to be friends with Bubbles back in the day. I only ever managed to hold a BCWii regional for a few days in the early months of MKW and discover the BCWii glitch, so I hella respected him even if I didn't want to admit how much worse I was than him at the time. I wonder what he's up to these days.

Let’s say you held one record for 30 days, another for 25, and another for 18, and you have never had another record other than those. Your total record duration would be the sum of all of those, which is 73 days.

ye for his time nobody could even touch him and the only difference is luke spends far more hours (after many new innovations) playing than fox ever did prime vs prime nobody can physically be compared to fox anymore, he already brought the game so far there’s no room to be considered a better player than him even if his times are gone 4 years later

Aside from the historical view Fox can't hold a candle against Luke in terms of skill. Sosis, Blaze and Jasha are also more skilled. You guys seem hit by nostalgia pretty hard. Also Luke will overtake him in the future with the absolute amount of wr days.

@@wasanderesalsihrseid i should definitely not be on that list in terms of being "more skilled" lmao but agreed with luke overtaking him sometime down the road, and also Luke set records which most of them are unmatchable by anyone, fox set records which were strong but still very beatable. you also need to compare the time difference from 2015 to now too

@@sosis2377 Honor your humility, but I think your rSL and MMM WR's are on a whole another level. But what's funny, like you I see Luke's potential for rSL WR(if he properly learns the track and grinds it then). I saw it from early 2018 on, when I asked myself what tracks could fit Luke's driving very well. And this track needs luckwheelies and his softdrift could potentially be TAS-similar the cave. Back to Fox: Yeah, for the time he got the records it was damn impressive. Especially that he could set them on a wide range of tracks. At all, people are getting better at the game. However, I doubt that one of the time trailers we have right now will be above Luke one day with WR count. And what's also impressive: Tracks like mc3, bc3, ddr had people who were really specialized on their WR track. And Luke just takes a selection of tracks I'd have never thought ONE person could hold WR on. And remember when people said the Tyler's mc3 WR will neverbe broken? Okay, I stop now. Luke's a miracle.
