I'm pretty sure Rosa was common due to her mini turbo stat bonus, so people thought she was better on tracks with alot of turns.

Yeah, from what I can tell Rosalina has pretty similar stats to Funky Kong in general and is even to this day viable. She also has a turning speed bonus and a few other things that basically keep her basically on par with Funky Kong outside of tool-assisted speedruns and (maybe nowadays) WR time trials.

It could also be the fact that Rosalina was given immediatly if you had on the same wii a Mario Galaxy save file. I don't think many people knew immediatly how to unlock Funky Kong and saw Rosalina as the better alternative. (Sorry if the English isn't perfect is not my language)

ive never understood how people can be this good at mario kart wii. i get how people are good in games, but mario wii? The controller is not precise enough and you gotta move your whole body to steer and drifts are close to impossible

You're thinking of the Wii Wheel- that controller is pretty hard to use, but there are other options that most people (myself included) opt to use instead. The GameCube controller, the Wii Classic Controller and the Wii Remote + Nunchuck are the most popular choices.

First of all there are different controllers and secondly you do not need to steer intensely, most likely you'll oversteer yourself and then you have to keep moving the controller left and right to readjust, seems like a skill issue perhaps
