@@JustinGamesJG Yeah, like using the vhs effect to give off a cozy atmosphere rather than an unsettling one. Don't get me wrong, I love analogue horror and the vhs aesthetic is like crack for me so that was part of what got me into it alongside the atmosphere of some of the better analogue horror vids out there, but I also agree that more non-horror games and such should use the vhs aesthetic. Like, you could pull off a game that looks like an 80s saturday morning cartoon on vhs the same way Cuphead pulls off its 1930s film look, filters and all.

I'm just impressed an old VCR could do this without just eating the tape. About a decade ago when I was visiting my dad we tried to play some old recordings of the Pokemon movies off Cartoon Cartoon Fridays on CN, they were probably like 7 or 8 years old by that point. Two VCRs later and all the tapes were destroyed...

By “on the interesting side” I mean by actually showing the glitchy nature of old VHS tapes rather than filters and also that it does look like analog horror.

That VCR is in much better condition than the one my family had back in the late 80s-early 90s. Every time we watched old boxing tapes, it would not play properly and there was a part where the commentators were talking at chipmunk speed.
