It actually makes sense that the Blue Falcon has so much sideways momentum. The F-Zero series' steering is a bit more realistic in that if you take a turn too fast you actually lose traction.

Just a tip, Troy: karts will tend to drift inwards if you land while tilting your vehicle upwards, and drift outwards if you tilt your kart down. Kinda different from bikes. Sideways momentum can be cancelled by drifting in the opposite direction as you land. Great vid though, I enjoyed watching!

Great tips! (FYI, to "tilt your vehicle downwards" means to hold your analog stick upwards.) If the 2nd tip isn't enough for you to fix a horrible line caused by an overflow of sideways momentum... you want to buffer a counter-drift in mid-air, drag it for a moderately short duration after your kart lands (until it faces far inwards and creates negative returns), then cancel it and rely on your handling stat or bunny-hopping (to retain speed), coupled with your brakes if necessary, until you're good to go again! Also, keep in mind, the more your kart bounces off ground, the less friction is able to cancel sideways momentum, and the less effective your brakes are. Troy has illustrated this on Grumble Volcano on that one U-turn.

Not really, though it is the most recognizable. The Standard Bike and Mach Bike are based on motorcross and MotoGP bikes respectively, and the Standard Kart is a shifter kart (albeit with an unrealistic exhaust system).

I’ve said this once, I’ll say it again. Heavier vehicles should fly FURTHER than light vehicles because they have more momentum. They would, at best, take the same trajectory in a vacuum. IRL, racers want light cars because they can accelerate/turn better. Which makes sense in game, lighter vehicles have better stats.

6:28 What's even more unfortunate about lightweight characters going higher off ramps, is that realistically they shouldn't. They have less mass pulling them, and therefore they shouldn't have as much momentum going off ramps. It's the heavyweight characters that probably should be going higher off ramps, which would conveniently balance out the heavy and light characters. (I might also be an idiot and be getting the science wrong)
