Look at bowser’s face at the 5 minute mark. He’s already pretty peeved when he gets to the battlefield. But when he turns and sees his troops are hurt and their ships are going down, he gets LIVID. This means he’s either angry at Reclusa for damaging his ships, or angry because Reclusa is harming his subjects.

Man, now I’m worried about the later bosses. I played Superstar Saga to get a feel for the series, but I never did a lot of damage to the bosses per attack. I think I had the most trouble with Cackletta, Trunkle, Wendy, and Fawful 2. When I learned that Cackletta’s soul has 1200 hp, and you start that fight with 1, I was like “Holy shit! There’s no way I’d ever win that!” But now I think all I need to do if I ever decide to try it is stock up on 1-ups and mushrooms. Hopefully the super kinds, but I forget which ones Little Fungitown has. And maybe their badges could be helpful, along with you know, adapting to the soul’s attacks.

...Damn. Reclusa had some REAL wasted potential. Reclusa is born from an egg when the energy of loneliness is gathered. This, in game, results in Reclusa being a manchild and an internet troll. But... do you know about how good and dark some of the Mario RPG stories were? My idea is that Reclusa could have become a very good tragic villain. Like... if they're born from loneliness, why do they even exist in the first place? To be banished? To be pushed into nonexistence? It could have been so much more with Reclusa, a "why was I born if I was only meant to be lonely?" direction instead of "YOU WILL ALL BE MY PERSONAL TOYS!" direction. A Kuja story instead of a Kefka story. That would have been a very interesting direction to take it, a direction I would have loved to see from a franchise who has made some really dark story beats and Reclusa literally pulling an Uchiha and using something comparable to the Infinite Tsukiyomi and trapping people in a perfect dream world.
