Mario Underground Music SECRETS!

David dives into the evolution of the iconic Mario Underground Theme by Koji Kondo, highlighting the most interesting additions (or subtractions) and explaining the music theory behind them. It's truly amazing how much a single melody can influence video game music forever!
We'll start with the original Super Mario Bros underground theme, and work our way through the past, all the way to the current Super Mario Wonder soundtrack... a lot has changed, but a lot has stayed the same. I have liked all your music theory videos. I can only wish that my music courses in high school could've covered this topic in the depth that you have. What you have here is a serious teaching resource. Who knows how many Mario Brothers players are themselves musically trained? Such folks would have tons of fun with this video. For me, a guitar player, I'd approach it more like 6/8 time as opposed to 3/4. It would be the only thing that would get me through bar 6. Even if it were scored in 3/4, as it appears to be, I'd still be tapping my foot and counting to 1/8th notes. YMMV as it is 100% a feel thing.
