He's like that because he plans to spend the rest of his life atoning for destroying the Protoss homeworld. In the first game when they were fighting the Zerg Overmind, only a Protoss channeling void energy (basically the Dark Templar) could kill the Zerg Cerebrates (extensions of the Overmind). When Zeratul killed one, their minds linked briefly and the Overmind learned the location of Aiur and sent the Swarm to destroy it. It wasn't intentional, but Zeratul feels responsible for the destruction of Aiur.

Just to clarify a couple of these scenes are alternate scenes based on the choices you made in game. The 2 scenes with the doctor one where she says goodbye to Jim, and the other where she turned herself into a zerg. And the 2 with the Jamaican spectre where he is showed allying with Jim, and then the one where you see him dying.

I believe the "official" scenes, the ones that lead to the events of HotS, are helping the Doctor and siding with the Spectre against Nova. I'm sure of the Specter vs. Nova scene, not as sure about the Doctor one.

This is SC2. Theres a whole story from SC 1 that heps you understand why they're doing this. Basically theres 3 races, Terran (the humans), Zerg (the weird Aliens like creatures and the Queen of Blades), and the Protoss (the other aliens, like Zeratul). There was a 3 way war, with the Dominion being invaded by the Zerg, and then the Dominon was invaded by the Protoss who were trying to kill the Zerg. In that war the Zerg captured Sarah Kerrigan and turned her into the Queen of Blades. She became the leader of the Zerg and waged a war that killed 8 billion people. That is the "crime" they are talking about in these cutscenes and why a lot of people thinks she needs to die. Thats all SC 1. In SC 2, the videos you watched here, a few things to note: 1: There are choices you can make in certain missions who to side with. You can side with the Doctor or decide to cleanse the planet. If you side with the doctor she tries to hook up with Jim before leaving, if you side with the Protoss and kill the people on the planet the doctor locks herself in that room and turns into a zerg because she's infetcted. Later there is anther choice, you can either side with Tosh (the voodoo doll guy with dreads) or with Nova. They both are special forces who an turn invisible, both are assassins, and you can choose who to side with. If you side with Tosh Jim and Tosh become friends in that cutscene, if you side with Nova she ends up killing Tosh. Both scenes don't happen, its one or the other depending on your choices in the game. Zeratul, the alien guy with the green blade who fought Kerrigan, he is a Protoss hero. His deal is he goes around the galaxy searching for clues from ancient texts and temples from the XalNaga. He found prophecies saying that theres going to be a huge war and Kerrigan/Queen of Blades is the only hope for life to continue to exist. The alien artifact they are talking about in the last few cutscenes is a device thats supposed to remove Kerrigan's powers and turn her back to a human, thus removing the threat of the Zerg. The story continues in the Heart of the Swarm, told from the perspective of the Zerg, and then more story in the 3rd expansion told from the perspective of the Protoss. Its not the same events told through different perspectives, its one story with 3 parts, each part told from different perspectives but with the main characters you meet are in each part of the story.

The Confederacy was invaded, not the Dominion. The Dominion was formed after the Confederacy was defeated by the rebel group The Sons of Khoral, commanded by Mengsk and with the help of Raynor. The Dominion was formed after the fall of the Confederacy.

That artifact they have been assembling throughout all their missions when put together is basically an anti-zerg weapon. It made her "human" again (although she still has some of her former power and hair etc.)

If you haven't figured it out, some of these scenes are based off choices you made throughout the Wings of Liberty Campaign. If you choose to side with the protoss to eradicate the infested then the lady will infect herself with Zerg DNA. If you choose to fight against the protoss then she will thank Jim. Like Tosh and Nova if you side with Tosh you free all of those people, you side with Nova you have her kill Tosh.

She takes a sample of the Zerg Dna that you been gathering throughout the campaign and injects herself with it. Infestation is rapid, it's not like a zombie film plague it's instantaneous.

@@evolvereaverr7321 the final mission in that chain explains that the people she is associated with are already infected and the choice you have to make is whether you purge them or find a cure, you can either help the protoss in the purging or delay the protoss until the doctor lady finds a cure. in one branch the doctor lady successfully finds a cure and in the other she fails and is overcome by the infection. the speed of transformation when it comes to zerg assimilation does not have a strict canonical answer and at best can be explained as "it depends on various factors, one likely factor is how much exposure one has had to zerg biomass". the cinematic where she becomes infested indicates that the reason she is so desperate to find a cure is not just to save her people, but also herself, though she doesn't tell anyone that she is infected in fear that she would be killed or contained, in which case she would not be able to find a cure, whether that fear is justified is up for debate, the protoss would certainly kill her on the spot.

Zeratul is a dark templar, a certain kind of outcast for the Protoss. They are villanized by the other Protoss castes for cutting themselves off khala, a psychic network all Protoss share via those dreadlock looking strands on the back of their heads. The Khala becomes a major plot device in the Legacy of the Void part of the story. But Zeratul has always been a hero.

You did an awesome outsider analysis here dude. Most of what you said is very true about, well pretty much everything. Just keep a bunch of things you saw here in mind as you watch the next two expansions. One thing, you may have noticed with the doctor flirting with Jim and the Tosh stuff it seemed like there might have been two stories. Well depending on choices you make you get one of those scenes. Personally I'm a fan of saving the colony and she walks away and breaking open the prison.

In case nobody has said: Kerrigan becomes human again after they activate the alien artifact. It's the thing Warfield brings them and Tychus comments that they're "betting their asses" on it. It happens in game and since these are just cut scenes, you don't see it. All you need to know is that some wooshy lights turn her human and kill a ton of Zerg. So the human factions take control of the Zerg homeworld, Char.

For those who want a run down of the characters and their relationships with each other keep reading. Tycus ; An old friend with Jim Raynor. They used to fight against the Dominion (dictator style space government) together. They got caught and Tycus ended up taking the fall and Raynor went free. Mengsk let's him out of jail and gives him his suit. Tycus can't leave the suit and if he doesn't do what Mengsk says the suit can shut down Tycus's major organs and kill him. That's why he tries to kill Kerrigan at the end because Mengsk said he could go free if he was successful. James or Jim Raynor (his name switches a lot based on who is talking to him.) ; Runs a resistence group called "Raynors Raiders" He is one of the main characters in the series and know a large amount of the characters. He met Mengsk in the first game and the two were working together to bring down the Dominion. Mengsk was initially helpful and introduced Sarah Kerrigan, to Raynor when he brought her on a mission. Raynor had strong feelings for Kerrigan and hates Mengsk for abandoning her to the zerg. After overthrowing the Dominion Mengsk betrays Raynor so that he can take control and became the emperor. Hence why Raynor hates Mengsk and is trying to bring him down, and feels guilty for Kerrigan and also feels remorse for all the killing Kerrigan has done since turning. Raynor carries around a revolver and it has one bullet inside. The bullet is meant for Mengsk, but he uses it to kill Tycus to save Kerrigan. Raynor went to Char (the home world of the Zerg) To turn Kerrigan human, by using a super weapon that destroys Zerg cells, in the hopes that her human side would survive. Matt Horner; One of Raynors close friends and is the Second in command to Raynor. He is actually married to a one eyed Bandit called Mira Han. He is married because he lost a card game to her, he avoids her like the plague. Doctor Arial; A scientist that helps Raynor with his research department, after he saves a group of her people from the zerg. The two cinematics you see with her are alternate endings to her story depending on a decision you make in game. A human collony are infested and the Protoss have arrived to to kill them before they turn. You can side with the protoss and kill the humans or you can side with Arial and take out the protoss to give her time to create a cure. You are friends with this group of protoss, and as far as conventional wisdom is concerned infection is not curable. As you see from the fist cinematic you can save the humans and Arial will go live on the new home world with the group of survivors. The cinematic when you help the protoss has Arial locking herself in the lab to try and cure the infection, she is unsuccessful and infects herself, that's why Raynor killed her. Tosh ; Tosh is a Spectre. Spectres are Ghosts that are experimented on to make them more powerful, this comes with a number of mental changes, that came result in psychosis and rage, just to name a few. Tosh proves to be very helpful, but does seem pretty shady at some points. Tosh and Raynor get on for the most part but Raynor doesn't fully trust him. Tosh wants to kill Mengsk because of the experiments done to him, so Raynor and Tosh have a common enemy. The two cinematics with him are again a choice. The first cinematic is when you help tosh free his fellow Spectres from a super prison owned by Mengsk. The second cinematic, has Raynor side with Nova and stop the invasion to let the Spectres out. The choice here is between helping the very unstable Spectres are siding with Nova and getting the help of Ghosts. Nova ; Nova is a ghost. Ghosts are made when a child shows signs of psi abilities. Psi is what you see most protoss use when they use there powers. Psi is pretty rare in humans but gives them a number of different powers, like mind reading and telekinesis, as well as others. The children with the powers are taken from the families and are trained to be assassins for Mengsk's corrupt government. Nova is loyal to Mengsk but works with Raynor every now and then, though she has no issue killing Raynor if time comes. Prince Valerian; The son of Mengsk, Works with Raynor to take down the Queen of Blades. Valerian, sees his father as a bad ruler and wants become a better one. He does respect his father, even though he sees that Mengsk should no longer rule. Zeratul ; Zeratul is a protoss, and is a dark Templar. Dark Templars use shadow abilities, and are cast out from traditional protoss culture. Zeratul is trying to stop a prophecy from coming true, that claims the ancient race that created the Zerg and the Protoss are coming back. Zeratul and Raynor friends and although they do their own thing they will help each other from time to time. Zeratule wants Raynors help to bring back Kerrigan because there is a chance that she will save them all. Zeratule haes Kerrigan, because Kerrigan destroyed the Protoss home world, as well as countless other killings, but recognises that she still needs to live. General Warfield ; Decorated General for the emperor. Reluctantly works alongside Raynor on char, but grows to respect him. In one cinematic we see him with a cannon arm. This is because when he was shot in the arm in the previous cinematic, it was by a Hydralisk and their spines are poisonous so he lost the arm, but still cam right back to the fight. Sarah Kerrigan/The Queen of Blades; Originally a ghost working for the dominion. Later she left and Joined Mengsk, Before the betray she had a lot of respect and loyalty to Mengsk. Has strong feelings for Raynor. She was sent to wipe out a group of Protoss that were planning to Glass the planet from space due to a zerg infestation. Kerrigan was sent to attack the protoss force to slow them down so that the planet could be evacuated. The zerg numbers were to much and the base was over run. Kerrigan was surrounded a called for evac but Mengsk just left her to die. Instead of killing Kerrigan, the Over mind (the leader of the zerg at the time), sensed Kerrigan's psionic potential and infested her, turning her into the Queen of Blades. Even as the Queen of Blades Kerrigan doesn't seem to be able to kill Raynor, as she lets him go saying she will kill him if he comes back, but just lets him go again. This suggests that even though she is infested there is still a part of he in there. Later the over mind is destroyed and kerrigan becomes the ruler of the Swarm. and Kills a lot of people. At the end of Wings of liberty her zerg side was wiped out but the Xelnaga weapon. and other that her hair is mostly human. Thats pretty much every thing you need to know to understand the cinematics for Wings of Liberty.

38:18 Sarah Kerrigan was already extremely powerful as a human gifted with psionic abilities. In the comics, it is revealed that she actually killed her mother accidentally when her abilities manifested as a child. Then, the military program designed for training people with psionic abilities known as the “Ghost Program” took her in and trained her to become even stronger. And THEN the Zerg took her and genetically modified her to become even stronger than before.

about your question at the 25 minutes, in the mission in Starcraft 1 you have a base and can produce army and if i recall the mission is to destroy a protoss base while you are attacked by the zerg and for some reason you cannot kill the zerg, i think you want them to swarm the planet for some reason.

That alien artifacts that they started collecting in the 3 video where they agreed on splitting the payment 70-30. That is the same artifact that you see in the second last video where Raynor gave his speech and is also the same artifact used to cure Karrigan.

Zeratul's weapon is a Psionic blade and Zeratul is a Dark Templar. A group of Protoss broke away from the Kala Caste on Aiur the Protoss homeworld and formed the Dark Templar seeking different levels of power and ancient abilities left by the Zel Naga.

Kerrigan throughout the game - Ghost lieutenant of revolutionary -> Really powerful Zerg unit under Overmind -> Queen of Blades - really powerful zerg commander lots of power, mentality altered into zerg -> Kerrigan - power dramatically nerfed, but regained human mentality -> regained her previous powers (and more), but without altering her human mentality (much) -> freaking goddess!!!

Came across your channel last week and i already have watched all your reactions with Nicole on Overwatch and Starcraft 2 and loving the content. All the combat suits you see can be taken off when not fighting the enemy, with the only exception being that of Tychus Findlay which got encased in a welded suit to carry out his sentence until he kills Kerrigan. Inside the game Jim Raynor jokes about how Tychus still in his suit even while inside the ship by saying "Yeah - what, did you bust the zipper or something?" On a smaller note: at 1:30 Tychus' prisoner number is 626 which is an easter egg from Lilo & Stitch, 626 being Stitch's experiment number

Tychus has a kill switch in hes suit and while its never explicitly said its beilved that Mengsk is holding that trigger becouse its hes voice there at the end. We learn about this trigger in seperate dialogue options at 1 point in the campaign so they know some1 has a gun at hes head, they just dont know who it is.

Great video, I really enjoyed watching it. To answer some of your questions, Kerrigan got infested about five years before this game began. In addition, Zeratul (the individual with the light-saber like blade) is indeed a good guy, not a villain (though he has made some costly mistakes over the years, he never had evil intentions). The Xel'naga artifact has special powers and they used it to turn Kerrigan from being zerg to being human once more.

But there is something important that you missed (because technically this was not a cutscene but something before and after a mission) Please watch the beginning and the end of those 4 missions (no need to watch the gameplay, just what Zeratul explains). kerrigan became "so powerful" because zerg like genetic perfection of thinks so the queen of blades is what they belive is perfect on her (but they are wrong watch hearts of the swarm for more details) they literally eat other species to get 1 adaptation they think they need, in their fight with the protoss they needed psionic strength and the humans are their means to get it

Hi Mario, if you liked WoL all cinematic, you NEED to see the Heart of the sworm (about settling with Mengsk) and Legacy of the Void (about the propercy "only she can save us"). afterwards, there is some extra, named Star craft 2 Spec Ops, with the blonde assassin as a "main character". The reason Kerrigan was changed into almost human form (back) was because of the xel naga artefact (piece of alien crap as Tychus described), wich was foun, assembled and brought to Char by combined effort of princes Julian Mengsks "employees" including Raynors Ryders (the whole Raynor crew). ST2 is "old" today, but does still have better storry, visuals and EVERYTHING, than 98% of todays shows and movies. BTW similar feel as from SC can be found in Warhammer 40000s Astartes 1-5 short youtube movies. Not sure you saw those or not.

In the scene were they left here, she was on a mission. She was supposedly keep the Zerg busy while the evacuated the planet, and then they they left here. When she turn Zerg, she was under the control of the Overmind (who has killed at Starcraft 1), then she took over the Zerg and wipe most of colonies of humanity and the protoss. Until for some reason she stayed in Char(planet) for like 5 years. Then she woke up for some reason, she was looking for a key because she was still under the control of the creator of the Overmind.

The alien relic in the 2nd to last scene 'dezergifies' her, and leads to the starting scene from HoTS you already saw. :) The Zeratul scenes should be in reverse order, as the xelnaga cavern leads to the experience Zeratul gives to Jim through the memory crystal in the dark corridor scene.

There's also no showing of Earth in the current Starcraft Universe, we know it exists because it's talked about as the UED (United Earth Directorate). However, this takes place in the Korpulu sector which is very far away. I suggest looking at the Starcraft Race introductions made by Blizzard. The Terrans fought against the UED for freedom, which Mengsk and James fought against with the Sons of Korhal. After achieving victory and throwing away Kerrigan like a tool Mensgk eventually turned on James and called him a traitor. UED expands across the galaxy, a pocket of it turns into the confederacy which is then overthrown by the Sons of Korhal to establish the Terran Dominion. (Starcraft 1 goes over this in more detail.)

@@danielorea748 Actually all the humans in the Koprulu sector we're prisoners from Earth shipped away in a space ship. So all the Humans in Koprulu are descendants of those prisoners they didn't fight for their freedom not sure where you got that from. At the beginning of starcraft 1 they (raynor and Mensgk) fought the confederacy and Edmon Duke. The UED didn't come in until Brood War which was after Mengsk had set up the dominion.

Now its not immediatly clear why mengsk decides to betray kerrigan in this game, but it is actually for revenge. Kerrigan was a ghost working for the confederacy ( loyalty is forced with a mind control chip and brain washing) whilst mengsk's dad was trying to gain independence for his world. Kerrigen was sent to kill Arcturus Mengsk's father (and succeeds) and the entire family but arcturus manages to flee. He later goes on to form a resistance movement after the confederacy nukes his home world as an example. At some point he rescues kerrigan from a reseach facility where they were experimenting on how ghosts (what kerrigan is trained as) interacts with zerg using their psionic power, hoping to gain control of them. They surgically remove her mind control chip and later gain access to a database on ghosts that help reverse the conditioning and brain washing. This database also contains information on past ghost missions and mengsk discovers that kerrigan and two other ghosts are responsible for killing his family. Be aware that kerrigan has no knowledge of this as its standard procedure to remove all memories of the mission after ut is completed. By the time of him betraying kerrigan, he has already tracked down and killed the two other ghosts. Her increased involvement with Jim worried mengsk and he was afraid she was slipping from her leash, so he abandoned her to die to complete the revenge for his family. Unfortuantly for him, the zerg were intriuged by her psionic powers and transformed her into the queen of blades using the hyper evolutionary virus which is the origin of all zerg. Due to her psionic powers and stronger mind and will she emerges with her intelligence intact but with a twisted personality. Her every thought now genetically programmed to act in the best interest of the swarm. Whilst she does have agency, she doesnt have free will due to the hivemind structure of the zerg and genetic coding. What you see at the end of wings of liberty is the artifact they've gathered thus far being used to purge her of the virus and the influence of the zerg on her mind, though some physical changes remain. I would highly reccomend watching a heart of the swarm cinematic version with all mission dialogue as you get a much better understanding of what is going on.

karigan is the most important piece of zerg in regards to advance in evolution. they want assimilate protos in first star craft and gain their psi abilities. but they lack latent psi abilities to make so. humans are those who posses them and zerg as such went to do so. protos know about their plans so they decided to destroy humans before it happened. but course of events help zerg to capture karigan and gain what was necessary. however human destabilized their control (overmind and cerebrates) by psi disruptor and big brains lost control (or chunk of it) over the swarm) karigan gained powers which allow her to control zerg similar way like overmind (big brains which were killed in first game). that why she is so powerful and also learned couple of protos tricks which are common only for protos like create psy storms and such. she is like mixture of what good is in zerg, ever changing and adapting essence and what is good in protos purity of form (almost in regards for karigan).

So, in Starcraft a lot of the story is explained during the missions, so watching just the cutscenes can be a little confusing. The artefacts that Tychus mentioned at the very start were eventually revealed as Xel'Naga artefacts, and when combined they had the ability to absorb huge amounts of psychic energy. Kerrigan was originally a psychic ghost (Ghosts are highly trained spec ops, so Kerrigan was a psychic badass), when she was captured by the zerg, and mutated, her psychic powers were massively amplified. What you didnt see is during the final mission in the game, you have to hold off the zerg swarm while the xel'naga artefact "charges" up. When it is fully charged, it absorbs most of Kerrigans psychic power and removes most of the zerg infestation from her which is why she now looks mostly human, apart from the funky zerg dredds. Without her controlling the swarm, the zerg become more feral and lose all cohesion.

De-infesting Kerrigan and saving her was such BS. And it only got worse as the story went on. Anyone who played trough Brood War would know this whole thing does not make sense. She was not mind controlled, Overmind specifically mutated her so her free agency would be preserved, she chose to kill all those people and she enjoyed it. In her own words: "I am a Zerg now Jim, and I like what I am." I'll never forget how after another of her betrayals Jim screams at her: "How many noble souls you need to consume before you're satisfied? How many more people need to die before you realize what you've become?" "You don't even know what you are talking about, Jim!" "Don't I? I'll see you dead for this, Kerrigan. For Fenix and all the others who got caught between you and your mad quest for power!" "Tough talk Jimmy, but I do not think you have what it takes to be a killer." "It may not be tomorrow, darlin'. It may not even happen with an army at my back. But rest assured: I'm the man who's going to kill you some day. I'll be seein' you." We waited over a decade and then SC2 rolls around and whole thing is about Jim helping her get more power than she ever had before all the while making lovesick eyes at her.

The black rock in the second last scene is an ancient artifact. After it was fully charged it's impulse rendered the zerg incapable of doing anything and turned kerrigan (mostly) human again And the guys in the suits are called space marines (you asked what these suits were called)

Anyways, there's a few things you missed, but the story makes about eight times as much sense now that you've seen all the cutscenes. All of the expansions are in chronological order, so certain cutscenes you've seen don't make sense because they were in the wrong order. Just forget what you think you know about the Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void stories. They will make a lot more sense once you see them in order. All in all, cool series, I like seeing your take on what you think is going on. Keep at it!

Learn about StarCraft1 only characters such as Duke, Fenix, Tassadar, Aldaris, Dugalle, Raszagal, & Duran... O man, Duran, keep a close eye on that one. I'd be interested to see your thoughts on that. lol This is everything you want if you like the story.

noice so there was a government called terran federation in starcraft 1 those characters Jim , Sarah and Mengsk banded together to over throw that government in starcraft 1 they did and mengsk made his own government called dominion . you seen that cut scene when Sarah got captured they where in a operation to destroy current government's capital city they did but mengsk left Sarah to die. when she got captured there was a zerg lord called Overmind he knew about prophecy that will ancient gods come to destroy all living Overmind knew that and captured kerrigan to be queen of blades kerrigan was only one who can save all living and all zerg but after creating Kerrigan Jim and other protoss's (Alien creatures) band together to kill Overmind and they did then kerrigan become queen of blades and killed 8 billion people and kind a disappeared that's the very short story of starcraft 1. this all heppened before 5 years of the starcraft 2's story

I think the mission briefings help add context as well. The briefings say where they are, why they are there, and what they are trying to do. I think if you just watched the mission briefings and the cutscenes you could get enough of the story to follow along. With cutscenes only its hard to get the context.

As for the Zerg it is modification of the primal Zerg and there sole goal is annihilation of everything. If I got it correctly they where modified by a Xel naga artifact probably the one they used to revert her now. Who did the modification I'm not sure if it was the xel them self then it was according to plan if it was someone else it backfired and worked in the Xels favor. The Xel Naga are the creators of life pretty much and is extremely ancient and advanced but left a long while ago and now seem to be returning bent on destroying the things they created and the Zerg feel there intention that is why Kerrigan said she will embrace death when they come since she was still controlled by the Zerg. In the first expansion she finally gets control over herself. Second expansion I have not played so not sure what happens in it I only now we follow the Protos. So base game is Terran/Humans first expansion is Kerrigan/Zerg and third Protos the last faction and probably continuing the story from where the first expansion left of.

Unfortunately watching only the cinematic you lost something, because some important plot event are narrated in briefings or during the mission. I'm going to explain you something, but first a little background from the first game The Terran (humans) in this story live in colony indipendent form earth, at first governed by a corrupted confederation. Arcturus Mengsk was the leader of the Son of Koral, a group of rebel that figth against confederation. Unfortunately Mengsk reveal that is goal is to take down the confederation in order to take their place and became the emperor of the sector. To do this, he unleash a swarm of Zerg on the confederation capital. Jim Raynor, the protagonist, is an ex sherif that initially join the son of Koral, but when he see the corruption of Mengsk he quit and form is own rebel group, the Raynor's Raider. Sarah Kerrigan was an human with psionic power that was at first trained as a Ghost (a confederate assassin), then she was saved by Mengsk and join the Son of Koral; unfortunately Mengsk betray her, leave her to die from the Zerg (or so it seem), because when she was an assassin she killed his father (although she can't remember, because the confederation delet her memories) The Zerg are an antient race leaded by the Overmind, a sort of hive mind. Every time that a Zerg kill another being, it took his essence, evolve and take his caratterist; they can also infest a creature and make it a Zerg. Kerrigan was infested too, but with a more raffinate and complex metod the turn her into a very powerful being, the queen of blades. The Protoss are a race with psionic power, linked by the Khala, the psionic connection of every emotion and though, that was created to stop the Eon of Wars, a conflict between various Protoss tribes;they also have a very advanced technology, in contrast to Zerg that use only biological structures. But some Protoss refuse the Khala, and for that they were exiled and traded as eretic. Both Protoss and Zerg was created by the Xel'naga, an antient god-like race that guide their evolution,but they abandoned the Protoss when they start the Eon of Wars, and then they are eradicated by the Zerg. The Overmind want to aximilated the Protoss, so he find and invaded their planet thanks to a psionic connection that a Dark Templar, Zeratul, created with him for error, but two Protoss executor, Artanis and Tassadar, and a Protoss warrior, Fenix, allied themselves with Zeratul and the Dark Templar, and also with Raynor, and kill the Overmind (he can only be killed by a Dark Templar), but this cost the life of Tassadar. Then the Protoss escape on the planet of the dark Templars, and they form an unite government, named the Dalaaem. The Zergs meanwhile created a new Overmind, but Kerrigan make an alliance with the Dalaaem first and then with Raynor and Fenix, manipulated and betraied them in order to kill the second Overmind and became the queen of all Zergs. She also kill Fenix and force Zeratul to kill the Dark Templars Matriarch. The story is complicated by the arrive of the EUD, Earth Unite Directorate, a fleet from the Eart that want to unify the sector and controll the second Overmind, but they are destroyed by Kerrigan. Kerrigan also have a servant, an infested Terran named Duran that infiltrated himself in the DTU and kill an admirall, Alexei Stukov. Keep that in mind. In a DLC Stukov was resurrected by Zerg and infested, but he was saved and cured by Raynor and the Protoss. At the end of the story Zeratul discover that Duran is not a Terran or a Zerg, but an ancient shapeshifter that serve a misterious powerful entity and he created some strange hybrid between Protoss and Zerg. Wings of liberty follow the rebellion of Jim Raynor against Mengsk and it is divided in various story arc. In the first Raynor help the doctoress against a Zerg infection, and that arc have two possible endings, one in which she leave Raynor, and another in which she was infected (you watched both) In the second Raynor help a pirate and rebel with psionic power, Thosh, a Spectre (a variant of ghost) but a dominion Ghost, Nova, try to convince him that Thosh is a psicopat. It also have two ending, one in which Raynor help Tosh that join the raiders, and another in which he help nova kill Tosh. In the third arc Raynor find a record that prove the crimes of Mengsk and broadcast it, exposing Mengsk. He also have the help of Mira Han, a mercenair lead that also is the wife of his friend Matt, the pilot of the spaceship (although for an error, he win her hand at Poker XD) In the last Raynor help Tychus (the man in the armor) to find some Xel'naga artifact pieces to the misterious Moebius Foundation, leaded by the scientist Narud, and owned by Valerian, the son of Mengsk. The artifact can be used to cure Kerrigan. The artifacts pieces was protected by a fanatic Protoss faction known as the Tal'darim. Kerrigan is also searching them. There is also the arc that followed the memories of Zeratul, searching for information of a misterious profecy about the end of the universe, linked to Duran's plan. He find Tassadar's ghost (the hero who sacrifice himself to kill the overmind) that told him the truth: the overmind was corrupted by an ancient powerful being to destroy the Protoss, but he created Kerrigan as a way to free the Zerg from the control of this being. He also saw a vision of the future, in which Kerrigan die, the Terran are exterminated and the Protoss figth a last stand against an army of Zerg and Hybrid, leaded by a misterious being known as "the dark voice". An hybrid is also founded in a dominon laboratory. You have already seen the rest of the story, but there is a book setted after the events of this game that explain that Valerian don't know the plans of Mengsk to kill Kerrigan using Tychus (that have a kill switch inside his armor so he can't disobey orders); they also discovered that Narud have created the hybrids (and now read again my recap and then read his name backward) and want to kil Kerrigan. Then she was bringed to the umojan, and indipended Terran faction allied with Valerian. And that's it, I can't wait to your reactions to Heart of the Swarm

The cinematics are jumping around the storyline between Mar Sara and Char, you really need to watch them in mission order to get the full impact. Zeratul is very much pro-universe, which most people regard as good. You missed a lot of Ariel's story, Tosh in particular does NOT trust her.
