Mario from a different time period here. This was filmed a few weeks prior to uploading. There might be some inaccurate information because times have changed, but the bulk of the content is the same. Enjoy :)

Solid vid. However, my strat for unbricking is also quite good. I simply sob a lot until my opponent gets uncomfortable.

Love this series, I think it's something that's sorely missing from Digimon content (would be easier with a better method of explanation than TTS or overhead views of gameplay). I've seen so many players play too conservatively in situations where there is actually nothing their opponent can do to punish them (like promoting grandis stack early to get extra draws etc). Another idea that could be interesting is a "what's the play" where you present the viewer with a puzzle and see if they can figure out the correct play for the situation. I've seen them in other card games and they are a great learning tool

As a somewhat new player by going on 4 months, this sort of thing is helpful. I'm at that point where I'm not new enough to ask questions on a basic level, but senior enough to have pride that I should know some basics and won't ask aha Keep it going!

Great topic to consider when practicing to get better. One thing I look at when I’m deck building is how many different good first turn plays show up in hand randomizer. In my opinion most of these are playable hands missing a rookie. The worst bricks are lots of lvl 6 in hand and missing all lvl 4s or 5s to make a single lvl 6 but doesn’t happen often. This topic kinda thrives off knowing matchups to play the cards with the highest odds to win.

Stuff like this makes me wonder if the playerbase even knows what bricking is - all those openers looked playable to me, and I have opponents constantly try to console me for "bad luck with bricks", when I'm just a basic Red/Green player lol. I wonder how much of the way we talk about the concept is because of the way we build decks - one of my favourite decks is Red base Yellow WarGreymon, a high roll deck with both amazing aggro and control, decent consistency, and a complete inability to play through bricked hands because of how the deck is fundamentally built - you need a clean run of everything to pop off, and if you see your top end instead of your low end searchers or are missing a level and never draw into it there is very little you can play that will win you the game. It isn't all doom and gloom, hard slam RizeGreymon T1 has been a winning move for me before, and knowing the match up helps immensely, but the low floor is the price I pay for the high ceiling and it feels so weird in tournaments when my opponents are the one excusing me saying "it's okay, you just bricked is all". Obviously as said you DO get those completely unplayable hands sometimes, but I wonder how much is people relying too much on getting like a five card combo over three turns, like that Melga hand for example waiting for the promo WereGarurumon or an X Antibody to pop off instead of making an immediate (if conservative) play.

Hey Mario! Apologies in advance if this comment is long… I’ve been playing Digimon since BT8 and I’ve learned a lot since then, but videos like this definitely do help to reassure players like me or even correct false ideas one may have had. I love the idea of you making these type of teaching/coaching videos and would happily watch more. Maybe the next one can be about deck building and what advance strategies one might use to make something work. Keep it up, much love 💜

Actually the best play you could do with "plants" is play ajatala right away. Hardly is your opponent going to be able to respond to it turn 1. Yes, lots of memory to set up for them, but next turn you can just spam the red vegi and then go into lord bloom so that if you even started at 2 memory you could keep going. Also, to play safer in sec con, hatch an egg and play the tamer with the opposed to it, that way, no matter what, you can play your options on turn 2. Do not play kairi cause she is the memory tamer, play what let's you stay on the game, which, btw, that hand was not a brick being seccon
@mariosgamingworld9311
@mariosgamingworld9311 Жыл бұрын
I do appreciate the lengthy response. On sec con I agree that’s one thing you can do. I did say some people would think that hand is good. And hard playing the Ajatar I acknowledged as a meme, but depending on the deck, it’s an okay play. The important part is understanding what you’re playing against
@latitude990
@latitude990 Жыл бұрын
I think if you're in the dark, Mimi is best. But if you know your opponent and they don't have an easy answer to a turn 1 Ajatar, it can be the right play. Turn 1 can even be the best time to give your opponent a bunch of memory, assuming you will be able to establish a good enough board to overcome it. Another thing to consider is that it's your only Ajatar in hand, so if you don't know your opponent's deck it could be risky vs the Mirror or Yellow Hybrid/SecCon. Definitely gets complicated
@PepinHello
@PepinHello Жыл бұрын
@@latitude990 I would think riskiest in that meta would be mirror exclusively. Like, even if sec con wanted, since the options are dual color, the y`ll probably have to use even more memory to get rid of Ajataramon so unless you start bricking the more than a concrete house for the next several turns, you could be in the clear EVEN if Ajatar where to be removed so fast

Great content,but i just felt that the Melga and Bloomlord examples I do not consider brick lol,maybe I’m just too used to it. The worst brick these days is having 5 lv6 in BWargreyX deck and opponents is red hybrid lol died in 2 turn😂 Usually in that case i would just pass and pray for the best

Love this series. I've played cards for over 20 years, all different games, and I think this is very well done. I like playing a memory tamer over passing for lots of reasons. If you just pass them to 3, they can play a memory tamer for 4, they put you to 1 and you have no board, it's just awful. You want to blame the game? Then yeah you bricked. You want to get better? Look up "Upstart Goblin". The marginal consistency will make your deck better than a copy of that deck with out upstart. These little advantages can compound, and you'll pick up free wins just because your deck is more consistent than someone else's. If you keep bricking, then tweak your deck to be more consistent🍔

Recently I experienced what you may call a "brick". I had every piece for Jesmon except my LV6s and my opp surpassed me at the end. What do you do when you still lack your pieces? Promoting anyway and committing to possibly lose your stack or try to dig as much as you can to find that last card you need?
@GraniteFaun

Lol I had a brick with Wargrey X Deck and only Lv5 and 6 on my hand. You can still wombo Combo with that actually xD Metalgrey X Effect gets triggered by having a regular metalgrey under it so... And I had to do this twice in the same match, the brick was that bad xD But still one this one of 3 because The rookies came after the second Metalgrey hard drop. So yeah unless you don't have just lv6 and 7 on your hand...

Not a bad video. Ya gotta love hearing people complain about “brick hands” when they lose instead of playing it out. Mulligans take away that skill factor of playing with the hand you’re dealt.
@takatran475
@takatran475 Жыл бұрын
You can still draw another brick hand. The cards he drew with MelGa were pretty bad, so i wouldn't say it takes away the skill factor. Deciding wether or not to mulligan is in my opinion also a skill that comes with playing brick hands. For testing you can just keep every hand you get, because you can't change the outcome of the mulligan and your starting 5 might just be what you got after you did it.
@VindeZwarts
@VindeZwarts Жыл бұрын
@@takatran475 bro there’s no skill in mulligans. Oh my hand isn’t what I want it to be, boom to the bottom of the deck you go. All it does is make bad decks decent and good consistent meta decks better. This game wasn’t meant for mulligans but since Q.Q players cried for them Bandai bent a knee to that portion of the player base.
@latitude990
@latitude990 Жыл бұрын
Mulligans are basically just giving the opponent a free punch before the match begins. They don't change your deck construction, because if you fail at that then you will still lose. There's already enough RNG in security, why force one player to start the game with 1 hand tied behind their back? Giving both players equal starting "luck" actually makes games more skill intensive on average, instead of forcing players into 1 decent play or 3 bad plays (compared to say 1 decent play 2 good plays 1 best play).
@VindeZwarts
@VindeZwarts Жыл бұрын
@@latitude990 that’s not even true lol 😂 the people who win these ultimate cups have gone on record stating that they tailored their decks to preform better in these events bc the mulligan rule was in place. This is why you see them playing weird variants of cards like 1 of’s or 2 of’s bc with mulligans it doesn’t matter.
@latitude990
@latitude990 Жыл бұрын
@@VindeZwarts You understand the fact that your deck has to be random right? So it should be easy to understand that those tech cards have an equal chance of showing up during all parts of the game (opening hand, post-mulligan, security, first 5 cards you draw that game, etc). It's similar to when people exclude cards from their deck because "it gets bottom decked by my searcher." That doesn't matter. Either the card was going to be one of your draws, or it wasn't. You have no way of knowing if your searcher is getting you closer to the card you want to draw, or if it's going to get hit by your searcher and bottom decked.
