People in general, do not understand consent. In my country either, both men and women dont get it. Women think,once they are married, they HAVE to say yes all the time. That it is the man's right. So man believes that he is entitled too. Forget marital rape, many women dont even press charges for domestic violence coz "after all,the children needs a father, a woman has to be patient and try to correct the husband and other bullshit."

Daniel Fernandes is a really edgy comedian....he makes jokes out of things that makes you uncomfortable yet think about the social issues.....you guys should check out his other stand ups especially the old ones where he talks about more social issues like student suicide and feminism and mental health stigma and so much more....when you are listenong to him you don't know whether to laugh or not because even though he is making jokes the things he talks about are serious and makes you pause and think about it... i used to watch him so much few years ago...i still hear him on his podcast sometimes.....i will say he is more of a kinda philosopher than a stand up comedian

@@sagarjoshi9933 apparently he started off way before the likes of Kenny and Kanan... I guess it's the subject of Dark humor that our population lacks the minimum sense on. If you ask me, satire is the best form of comedy, and Daniel Scores huge numbers on it, and probably is the only comedian in our country doing it properly and not just for the sake of sounding edgy.... Most of the stand up routines in our country are very vanilla, and speak about daily routines, with no real substance. Dating, Boys/girls, american culture, Friends, Trip to Goa, relationships....and honestly, it's getting really outdated. I stopped with indian Standup comedy after having watched it for a year straight...it's really premature even today.

I am an Indian woman born and brought up in India but now live in Europe. I have friends who live in the US (like me an Indian who moved abroad later in life for work etc) and consent or the lack of understanding what consent means is an issue (maybe not as much as in India) but still an issue where the younger gens in school are still being taught about it! A large part of domestic violence here involves sexual assault. There are men everywhere who are violent with brains the size of peanuts! Section 375 definitely needs to be revamped - Rape is rape! Period. Really like how people like Daniel Fernandes are using their platform to talk about it.

A majority of these issues stem from sub-par levels of education in the country. You don’t know it’s wrong or bad because that’s what you’ve always known from interacting with your surroundings and people. You haven’t read about other cultures, people, races, countries, beliefs, traditions, temperaments, laws, morals, etc. And because most of the times when you aren’t educated, you have no need to go to other places for education, work business or anything else- that means you interact with the people with the same thinking as always and don’t get to talk to, interact with, have discussions with people who have a different moral structure than you. And when you do, you always do it with an existing bias towards those ideas as that’s what your grownup mind has always known. I know that education doesn’t guarantee or ensure progressive thinking but, it does provide you with a better chance to have one.

Indian laws have provisions w.r.t. Marital Rape....it's just that in our legal terms it's not explicitly called "Marital rape" as the provisions are covered under DV laws as "Sexual abuse by domestic partner" The demand is fr separate criminal laws that specifically have provisions only fr marital rape & yes these demands were refused but the reason ws rampant abuse of already existing DV & sexual harassment laws (which obviously the government didn't explicitly say bcoz they can't officially accept that already existing laws are being abused at this level & no steps are being taken to counter such abuse)....but the legal fraternity & people who've done some independent research on the matter know about this

Indian judicial system's biggest fault is-it is very slow.But greatest virtue I saw is (which I didn't saw in many other countries is) it's motto -even though thousand criminals escaped one innocent should not be punished.it gives lot of oportunity and time. prove your point .that is why sometimes it takes so long.Like u cannot get death sentence in India if u killed a police officer or a military officer.even if you killed 25 people,u will not get death sentence.it can only be given to extremely rare cases.That is one of the reason crimes are increasing.Some people consider this as a fault also.But I consider it as virtue.

Lot of mis-information in this stand up. Considering the sensitive subject people like Daniel Fernandes should not be indulging in misinformation of this nature. There is a 'domestic violence and sexual abuse' law in India that covers many scenarios that would typically fall under marital rape. Considering how tough it is to prove it, not sure a separate marital rape law makes logical sense. Misuse would be rampant just like the current domestic abuse law.
