Excellent observations, thank you for making this video.

I am pleased to know that people are still discovering my work, and are benefiting from it. I am still having some very important techniques of Budo to produce, but simply have no chance of filming it. Hopefully it will be possible in future.

Marius, I just found this series and very much look forward to any more "Rediscovering Aikido Basics" videos you get to produce. I'd love to know more about your research and common understanding from the 50 Budo techniques that you mention in the introductory video. To add more to your argument in this video, Aikido Maki No Ichi (1954) has the first drawing of Tai No Henka on page 82 directly matching the first drawing of Irimi (Irimi Nage) on page 80, which both match Budo photo number 2 on page 9 showing the start of Irimi (Irimi Nage). In Maki No Ichi the text for both of these techniques mentions the same turning of the palm to face upwards.

Thanks for the reply Marius. It is a shame you haven't had more positive interest about this work you are doing. I agree that many are stuck in the way they have been shown (and sometimes don't have a choice in their organisation). But I also think there are many people researching, thinking and analysing, often silently by themselves. Visiting other dojos, styles and even other arts can highlight common fundamental principles among the sea of stylistic differences that existing even within one organisation. But I like that you are taking it back to the available information on O'Sensei to find the answers. I'm sure I am not the only one that looks forward to seeing more from you on this very interesting topic when you get the time to make your next video.

I practice Tomiki Aikido in the States. Just discovered your "Return to Aikido Basics" thanks to a post in the Facebook group "Aikido." Enjoyed both. Subscribed and looking forward to more. Well done. Thanks.
