I’m a 73 year old bowler that certainly has watched Mark bowl many times over the years. What a great coach he’s turned out to be! Just discovered his channel and maybe I can still get my 185 average back up to 200 before I retire from bowling.

It's refreshing to hear Mark talk about bowling. A world renown coach who is still a student of the game. I've never been a great bowler but I've always loved the game and I love listening to those who really know this game sit and talk about what they know. Everything that I know I learned from someone else. And I still enjoy learning. Thanks Mark!

I'm 6'4" also and forever I couldn't understand how Wes Mallot targets so close. I spent years looking at the arrows myself and recently started targeting 5-6"s past the 2nd set dots on the lane and for me its greatly helped w hitting my mark more consistently and has helped up my revs slightly. I tend to lean back in my walk/delivery and for me my ball accuracy and delivery is much better if my forehead stays at or just ahead my delivery.

Here's a question for the coach... I'm a one handed, no thumb bowler. All of my balls track horizontally about an inch over my finger holes. This does not change no matter what release I do. I have many different styles, I can crank it, bowl straight, or in between. I am quite versatile. However the track will always remain the same. I can have no revs, high revs, it doesn't matter. I don't understand why this doesn't change though

Here’s a question, is it better, for a 1 hander, to start the approach with a little bit of bend in the knees or no bend at all? Feels like if i don’t start atleast a little lower as a 6.2 guy I tend to not have any knee bend at all at the end, thanks for everything you do clean up crew and keep doing what you’re doing!!

I am a 205 average bowler, and I have always had gotten a straight line bruise on the pad of my thumb. I used to have a forward pitch, and was told to move to a regular pitch. It is better, but still giving me the same problems. Every pro shop (I have tried many) is telling me not to go to reverse pitch. I don't think I am grabbing the ball, but I feel like I cant get out the thumb consistently. 1. Do you think I should try to go reverse pitch, or is there something else I should try with drilling? 2. Is there anything I can work on, or is there anything I might be doing wrong where I can't get out of the ball.

Right hander when you release ball do you point thumb up or point towards right gutter??
@liquidrock2u3 ай бұрын
Depends on what you're shooting for. If you're aiming for the 10 pin or 2-3 pins on the right side, having your thumb angled towards the right gutter would make the ball either roll straight or you'll accidently rotate your wrist too much and the axis till of the ball will be directed to the gutter.

I am a 2 hander righty but have a neurological disorder where I’m weaker on my upper body so i throw the ball 11-12 mph but I can’t hold my ball at my waist no matter really the weight so I can’t really do a push away so what I did is I use momentum to swing the ball up in front of me then bring it back for the back swing but it really slows me down at the end so it slows my ball speed is there any way that I can do with my technique or am I just screwed for getting good ball speed

Hey Mark, due to age, and bad knees, I have a wobble in my approach as I walk. Do I keep trying to adjust my swing to compensate, or just accept the situation and work on my release?

What does the arrow on the lanes mean
@homerlex2 ай бұрын
When bowling with a "strong" ball and it fails to hook sufficiently, how can I tell the difference between the ball burning up vs the is just too much oil or carry down for that ball?
@novinnovations40262 ай бұрын
If you watch the ball spinning/rotating as it goes down the lane, theres a point where the ball "tips over". Train your eye to watch the balls characteristics as its going down the lane. If it continues to rotate the same and doesnt change the whole way down, its oil/carrydown. If yoi visually see the ball rotation shift/change and it doesnt hook, it burned up early

@squidly21123 ай бұрын
I have never understood the idea of moving your target point of your eyes, closer or further away. This makes no sense to me. My targeting is at the arrows. Why would you ever concentrate away from that? .. if you need to make an adjustment, move your eye target a board left or right. I aim for rolling my ball over specific boards at the arrows, sometimes even a fraction of a board (ie: left side of 17 board, or right edge of 18 board, or center of 20 board-on the arrow). Trying to fool yourself with moving that target closer or further just doesn't make sense to me. You're changing your targeting perspective, you're changing your head tilt (perhaps), you're ultimately changing your mechanics for which your body will have to compensate.
