you're using the term "fall for it" here but it doesn't quite apply. He used the threat of loss to put them in a position where it is genuinely advantageous to say yes to him. This was a good deal for them. They may have been able to get a better deal if Mark hadn't timeboxed his offer, which Mark knew, but so did they, but it's still worth it for them to say yes if the timeboxed offer is the only one they'll get from Mark.

It's literally just bartering so you're an idiot if you don't even attempt it, bet you do the same thing when buying stuff, don't even bother checking prices at other stores or online retailers and if you get a job you just go to the first one paying minimum wage for an advanced skillset. Terrible advice, he gave them that 10 second time limit because he knows a BETTER deal was going to be offered, a deal so good it even threatened his position despite them already leaning towards him as the investor... Why would he rush it and literally cut off the other sharks mid sentence if he knew his position was secure? Plus he halved the previous offer because he knew he had to present something that looked good to seal the deal quickly. If he KNEW he could get it for sure he would've matched the other offer at 30% or only dropped by a couple percent and even raise it when they crawl back to him... 🤦‍♂️

I have seen that happen too many times to allow it to happen again. She says “you havn’t heard my offer” like it was going to be some really competitive worthwhile thing. Then its like 600 for 60% when the offer they were negotiating was 600 for 18%, and they loose the original offer chasing her. Mark said it one time, “if you see 100 dollars on the street are you going to pick it up, or keep walking to see if there is another few hundred down the road?” If someone is negotiating with you, just negotiate with them, if another shark likes what you say they’ll jump in.

Mark doesn’t give other sharks a chance to compete with him, which is unfair. He is trying to corner the market for entrepreneurs, essentially bullying them to agree to his valuation if they want him or goes out. He plays that hand mkstly as soon as he figures out if they really want him. He doesnt even want to let Lori to make an offer to open the possibility of him changing his offer. This is not cool, not cool at all, in particular in the beginning of a relationship.He does it because he can.
