A well spoken man and a straight shooter to boot. Mark Farner should be considered one of Rock's finest.

It's sad that the lessons learned from the Terry Knight fiasco within GFR weren't really learned later on & came back to bite Mark Farner in the you-know-where, sadly. I guess Don "Sewer" Brewer took notes from Terry after all. When it comes right down to it, there are no winners here: Don & Mel are making paltry sums as "Grand Funk Revisited", we the fans don't get the reunion tour featuring Mark, Don & Mel & most of all, Mark Farner's left out in the cold, can't currently play with his ex-bandmates & can't play a majority of GFR's songs @ his concerts - songs which HE wrote! Don & Mel are lowlifes for allowing this to happen. It just isn't "Grand Funk Railroad" without Mark Farner! Bravo, Mark!

Sounds like what John Fogerty's X-bandmates from CCR did to him. They're also out playing as Creedence Clearwater Revisited. You know how good that sounds without John Fogerty, right? Do Stu Cook & Doug Clifford do any of their own hits like............mmmmmmmmm..............oh..................must be some in there somewhere, eh? NOPE! They do John Fogerty's songs, of which they did not write nor did they sing. Sounds like the same thing that's happening to Mark. People should not buy tickets to these fake bands fake concerts. These bands are nothing without their original writers, singers, guitar players & frontmen. Some people will do anything for a buck, no matter how band they sound & look. GFR without Mark Farner? There is no Grand Funk Railroad without Mark Farner! Mark Farmer should be in the HOF. Brewer & Schaker should not get there.

@@sheddski2942 You hear a lot of this these days, "I think this is the strongest version of the band we've ever had," when 3/4 of the original lineup was fired or quit.

I adopted his brother Ric Farner's Blue Heeler dog. From Flint and my Dad grew up with these guys. Ric's actually a really good guitarist, too. I think he's gigging down in Florida these days. Mark has always been a great guy! I feel so bad about what happened to his son.

I concur with "chipple6", prayers out to Jesse! I listened to Mark, Don & Mel more than I listened to my parents!! Mark Farner is a class act, a true gent and an outstanding musician/songwriter. OK now, please don't hate me - Terry Knight, the con artist that he may have been, was hugely responsible for making GFR a success, and he kept them rockin' hard. I prefer the music of GFR when TK was in charge. Sorry if that offends anyone! GFR seriously needs to be in the RR Hall of Fame!!

When Mark said turn the shares over to the corporation. My gut instinct said "no." I think that any decision that makes you lose your power over, whatever it may be... is the wrong decision. It's too bad that this all took place and people can't just make great music. Mark's only mistake was that if he had no knowledge about it, he should have waited and asked an attorney what would be best for him. He has great talent and will prosper in everything he does! 🎸

Well, Queen hadn't made any real money up until night at the opera. I don't know anything about their publishing deal, but their ought to be legislation in place to protect young artists. The "greenhorn act" (for lack of a better term) ought to be law.

Mark comes across as a very decent person. I hate to hear about the publishing scam that he and many musicians fall prey to. At the same time, Terry produced Bloodrock, one of my favorite bands, and was an interesting artist in his own right. He obviously understood the business and perhaps, unethically, took full advantage. In the end, if you are an artist, you need to learn the business aspects of your career just like anyone else in a business before you sign on the dotted line.

Terry Knight did produce a lot of their early albums, so there may have been some influence on them. But between managing and producing (and screwing them), Terry was getting twice as much as Mark, Don and Mel put together.

It’s tragic when friends just can’t be friends anymore. It’ tragic that things that started out so well had to end the way they did with GFR. It’s tragic when the driving force behind anything is egotism and greed.

The new GFR changed its name, is now "SBB" a.k.a. "sewer brewer band". We all know who the real genius of the "real GFR" was; MARK FARNER. No Farner, no funk, just SBB.

You would think there'd be some kind of legal loophole Mark could've used to get his share of the publishing back since he was a minor at the time the contract was signed and he never signed anything personally? Fucking LAME how much Mark and other musicians have been screwed by sleazebags in the music biz. In Mark's case those sleazebags were not just management types, but even his own bandmates SMH.

This is the typical stuff that happens to young guys who work so hard to make music that they'll sign anything from a smooth talking manager who tells them he make them stars. Mark will always be GFR, Mel can be replaced in a minute same with Don.They are nothing without Mark. Come on guys reunite and give Mark his fair share of his publishing. You'd be nowhere if not for Mark.
@stillnotwoke
@stillnotwoke 5 жыл бұрын
Well, that hasn't happened so far as Mark wants nothing to do with those parasites. I'm sure, as a Christian, he forgave them long ago, but they're so blinded by the money they made off of HIS songs they will never realize that HE was the heart and soul of that band . They may live "comfortably" for the rest of their lives off the residuals of their experience with him BUT...whether or not they had a "personality conflict" with him or whatever, he was the heart and soul of that band and, in the end, they royally SCREWED HIM, just like Terry Knight, who got his "just desserts" in the end also. Karma is a bitch in the end, so be it. Eventually you'll pay her...before you're time. Just my observation...prove me wrong.

Danielle! I wonder what you think of this... "Mark Farner was screwed over" by Terry Knight then "Mark Farner was screwed over" by Mel and Don then Mark became a wonderful born again believer but his son claims that Mark's pastor wanted mark to sign over his royalties to the church so that means "Mark Farner was screwed over" by the Pastor What is the common thread here! haha

I will give mark plenty of credit for being honest about being taken advantage of when he was young. He somewhat acknowledges that it was his fault for being naive. What I can t stand is clueless broke ass artists that cry the rest of their life when they realize they signed away the publishing rights to somebody else. Equally frustrating is when idiot fans enable this juvinile activism. Music production and publishing is a BUSINESS... and if you choose to not take the business seriously that is on YOU and nobody else. Other people are in this business to make money and if you are willing to sign over your rights they will be happy to assume those rights. That does not make them bad people... It makes them smart businessmen.
