he could've just walked out and took a shit on the floor then left and got the same exact crowd response

when he carves around the outside of the pitch, near the people, it looks like hes doing an impression of the late seventie to mid eighties del mar contest runs, where they roll out and roll back in again to get speed/generate crowd hype. when he lay on his back, it could have been an impression of when skaters filiming a trick they can do normally bail in the street. jay adams reference/ neil blender reference aswell maybe

Gonz made this as a representation of how you can stamp a label on anything, and people will believe it with a little bit of effort.

What's up with all the hate? This was seriously dope. The story is about the nature of skateboarding. You see him being really good some days, really bad other days, and comparing it to being like when he first started skating (all the sloppy mongo pushing, getting off the board and trying to straighten it with his hands) doing really well and then fucking up when he starts taking it too seriously, and then after doing something fun like riding under the box and being reminded of how beautiful skating is, he goes back to being able to land shit and skate with style again This is a really detailed depiction of how skateboarding is from the beginner level to the pro level.

I think he was trying to show that skateboarding should be childlike and creative, skateboarding is not just doing crazy tricks and going huge, it is about having fun and being creative.

@cdabcdefg123453 жыл бұрын
My take on it is that is questions why certain practices like skating (or for me biking, or for other people things like the way we drive or the way we use body language) are not considered art. I personally consider biking and skating to be very creative and artistic when done right, and I love this performance because it puts such a common practice on the same level with the fine art in the rest of the gallery. I think the choice of pop music is also important, because it shows how skating is a popular culture and how the art world is often removed from popular culture.
