@MidnightDStroyer Жыл бұрын
There aren't many actors that can feasibly & believably pull off roles for both iconic heroism & depraved villainy but Mark does it well. One of the few others was George Burns, in one movie played the part of God & in another (the sequel) played both God & the Devil. In an interview George was asked how he felt about playing the duel role. His reply was something to the effect that he's hit the highest role & the lowest role & really had no other place to go or any further expectations for his career. 😉 In Mark's case, he's played an instrumental focal point for saving the galaxy from tyranny & also played part as one of the most twisted & depraved villains in comic book history. Sure, he has a ways to go to equal what George Burns played, but George has been in the entertainment business since the days of traveling vaudeville shows & successfully navigated the transitions to radio, then TV...Very few of those performers could adapt through it all. Mark still has some time left to him, ya' know. 😁

It was incredible.
@theCTCamp4 жыл бұрын
I think it's more the type of Joker. Hamill's is definitely closer to the comic Joker, but if they were to write a Joker in the comics that acted like Ledger's, I'd probably read it in Ledger's voice, but it would be a much different Joker than what they currently have in the comics. Like, Hamill's (and the current comic Joker) is more psychotic, you can easily say he's losing touch with reality (the clown/carnival motifs everywhere, which are much more pronounced than Ledger's simple use of the makeup). Whereas Ledger's is more psychopathic, he's still operating with a "normal" concept of reality, he just doesn't care about anything or anyone. However, Batman with always be read in Kevin Conroy's voice.
@TheMagicRat4 жыл бұрын
@@theCTCamp There was a 2008 Brian Azzarello graphic novel called simply "Joker", which had a Joker closer to the Dark Knight version. I don't remember too much about it, but I did love another one he did around the same time called "Lex Luthor: Man of Steel", which framed his dynamic with Superman in an interesting way. Mark Hamill brings such a sense of wonder and love to to his performances. And that's why he's such a great Joker and so different from so many others - Mark Hamill plays a Joker who loves himself, who thinks he is awesome, and that being evil is awesome. A lot of Jokers have this deep self-loathing to justify the bad things they do that operates from a deep interiority, where the Joker face is a mask over a pained self - Hamill's Joker is more Shakespearean, where he has his appetites, his plans, his disdains, and he struts across the stage of the world reveling in them, and his mask is more of a shamanic conjuring of a spirit than a psychological defense mechanism.

CeroneGames Go Jack was a fine joker, I'd say in live action movies he's my second favorite (ledger is obviously first)

When I first heard the Batman movie was being made, before they had even announced a cast, the first thought that went through my head was, "Jack Nicholson. They need Jack Nicholson to be the Joker." I was both shocked and disappointed when the cast was announced. Nicholson would indeed be the Joker, but .... Michael Keaton as Batman? MR. MOM as the Dark Knight? ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME?! Turned out Mr. Keaton did a fairly good job, though.

When recording lines for Batman: The Animated Series, Mark Hamill would be the only one standing up and acting out the lines while recording them to the point where they actually used some of his movements when animating the Joker.

How could even Alan Moore think Mark Hamill is not the perfect Joker.

Every time I hear him as The Joker, I can't help but smile. Doesn't matter how dark and horrible the words are, you can just feel how much fun he's having playing that character. It's contagious

fun fact: [recently I set a mission for myself to rewatch all of my favourite childhood animations/cartoons in their full form from beginning to the end, right now I am on Spider-Man The Animated Series 1994 and I just realized] Mark Hamil was the voice of hobgoblin in that too! I recognised him by his voice, it was a lot younger but I know that evil Joker-like voice wherever I hear it! P.S: fantastic series, give it a watch if you haven't saw it already

i love how honest he is about the movies he does. just outright said the author would have hated it. on a personnel note, i wish they didn't do that batman and batgirl thing.
