This isn't true, "The Fifties" in French is les années cinquante. There is no Marr in French. It could be from Marron (brown) or maybe Mar short for Mardi (Tuesday) but in French all days are masculine and La would infer feminine. I was thinking maybe a reference to Marr (Johnny) who is sightly older and whilst it's not impossible that Marks parents were somehow influenced by the 2 year old Johnny at the time to honour the toddler, it seems unlikely. Never mind the fact that Mark is really Mark Jones and Johnny is really Johnny Maher. However as we are talking stage names, it's possible the two met or became acquainted in later years and discussed this at length. We'll probably never know. Anyway I just wanted to prove you wrong because I enjoy doing that in the most straightforward and pedantic way possible. As your humiliation is complete I suggest you don't reply and I think everyone would probably appreciate you taking the time to just think about what you did.
