Mark Lanegan is one of those performers who only get better with age. He's gonna be timeless, one of those artists that parents pass on to their children

Please don't share this song with your children unless they are 18. Lest they Google what does he mean by 'a spike in my hand'.

Your haunting, moving, tortured voice and words since my birth in 1969, thanks to a tormented dépressed Daddy who fed me on You , Iggy Pop, Bowie, Léonard Cohen... You are my lighthouse, a frontman from the abyssal depth of soul...I ll be missing you till my last breath. Thankfully your contribution to grunge and other unclassified rock movements is colossal, un heard of so as to content my ears and shattered soul like that of our destroyed Planet. RIP generous humble pure spirit without hint at drugs. I do not care who you looked like, your rehab etc...YOU ARE A LEGEND TO ME LIKE YOUR LAST SOLO ALBUM...In my country France very few woman my âge, living in the country, not a rebel but quiet person have heard of you, none has loved your inner self. Really thaks for helping learn English. Awesome interviews of you too humble...

Same here. I only got into Mark's solo music a few years ago (about late 2019 or so?). It was after listening to his 2020 memoir "Sing Backwards and Weep" that I REALLY became interested in his vast discography of music and all. Listening to that memoir in his own voice and hearing those stories and all just blew me away! I was familiar with Mark back when he was in The Screaming Trees way back in the mid 90's, but I was only a very young teenager then, so I didn't really get into them much. Of course I loved Nirvana, AiC, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Tad, L7, The Wipers, etc, but never liked Pearl Jam or the Trees as much. I do now appreciate the Trees now but I still don't think they were as great as the other Pacific NW bands in my opinion. Anyways, RIP Mark Lanegan AKA Dark Mark. ♥️🖤♥️🖤♥️🖤

Riffing on the genre of this track.....I was pleasantly surprised when he confessed his affection for dead can dance...(and that he was into Rimbaud, Baudelaire, Anais Nin) in the memoir......love how a certain European vibe had informed his esthetic. An admirable life.

Mark was such a great artist. I was heavily into the Seattle bands plus Pixies, NIN, STP, Pumpkins, Garbage, Appetite for Destruction (haters gonna hate), and much more. But for whatever reason I never got into the Screaming Trees despite digging their 'pop hits'. I rediscovered them recently along with Mark's solo work (not a big QOTSA fan) and am blown away. In a way the long delay is a blessing as it's like discovering 'new' stuff, even if dug from a time capsule.

As an appreciator of synth pop, this ain’t it. I’d like to hear something like this, that after the second or third reiteration of the same chorus, flip itself upside down and become a much darker song. As it stands, it holds no power, but you already knew that.
