Mark always surprises me, honestly. Compared to others here, possibly, i'm somewhat of a latecomer to Mark. But in almost 10 years listening to him (first his Screaming Trees and later as ML Band works), i must say he is an artist that never gets tired, he is always up to something new. His mind is always moving on to the next stage. While i initially tended to dislike his transition to so much electronic additions, over the years i have liked how he has been able to balance styles, or i should say to bring new sounds, while also conservating much of his ''lyrical nature''. He has always been the kind of artist, that sings about many things that usually trouble us, but also the bright side of the life. He is like the life itself, if we talk about the lyrics. So over the years, the older i get, his music has become much more real than before (i started listening to him while i was 22 yrs old, now i'm almost 32). I'm also impressed on how he has sailed through the troubled, turbulent waters of life, without showing even the slightest sing of surrendering. Many of his old pals, friends, or people he also loved a lot, left this world at this point; and i'm sure all of that has also influenced his lyrical style. But no matter the changes, he is still standing firm. Definitely, he is the kind of artists that i'm going to miss too much, if one day leaves this world all of a sudden. Because not everyone can bring us music the way he does, as it was (in my side) the case with Chris Cornell.

i really love that you mentioned tony. long before I even knew who anthony bourdain was (later to be my only true hero and role model), Mark Lanegan was my go to musician for solace since i was 18. I can't explain how much it mean to me that they happened to cross paths and become friends. But of course, Tony being in the same vein of human as Lanegan and the rest of us here, it makes sense. I dont want to ramble on forever, but at least we still have Lanegan here in the meantime.
