Paul Revere and the Raiders had some very good songs. I bought many of their 45s in the '60s. Their comedy antics kinda erased them from rock and roll history. Paul Revere died Saturday so I'm reflecting on their memory.

Mark Lindsay . . . the best of the best of the best. Why on earth isn't the original band, Paul Revere and the Raiders (with Mark and Mike Smith and Drake Levin) in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame??? They were one of the greatest bands of the late 60s . . . and they could do it LIVE. (They didn't need studio tricks to create that fabulous sound.)

No children, they travel quite a bit. He still wears glasses, but not as dark as years ago. If you do a search here, you will see live clips from this year! :)

Good point... I don't know of any injury he had. Retinal disorders can lead to this, and he's had a lifetime of vision problems, so that's most likely the cause. Lately, he's been able to wear lighter tinted lenses when performing! And YES, PR&tR's DO belong in the Hall Of Fame!!
@fredpine69611 жыл бұрын
Did Mark Lindsey ever get into an automobile accident or assaulted, because those are two ways you can suffer a detached retina. I still like his music and that of Paul Revere and the Raiders. They deserve to be in the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame.
@peggyanderson71505 жыл бұрын
detached retinas can just happen walking down the street. son-in-law has had 5 eye surgeries since Aug. to try to reattach his and the retina specialists he has seen tell himsome people are predisposed to the retina detaching, just genetics.

+60s70sVintageRock - Mark comes off as a really thoughtful and polite guy, I would have a hard time believing him being inconsiderate and and regifting, for lack of a better word, something I'm sure Jimmy wouldn't want to give back other than the fact that it was the right thing to do since here was Mark after all these years. Loraine just happened to be closest to him when he handed it back. And it wouldn't have been his place or style to correct her when she claimed it, totally awkward. Even Charlie had enough sense to tell her that Jimmy is gonna fight you for that. And yeah at the end she still was clueless when she thanked him for it. Whatever, she's a goofball.

He was taking his trash out to the curb when i walked up to him to tell him about the time i was on restriction the night Paul Revere and the Raiders aired on the Ed Sullivan show and i sneaked downstairs to watch it and got caught and had to take a whooping with the belt by my Pop. KICKS was, indeed, a great song and Lindsay was a talented and popular lead singer. I saw him around 2006 and he seemed a bit disoriented. I strongly suspected dark glasses were less for an eye condition than the after effect of drug use during the heavy rock years.
@60s70sVintageRock4 жыл бұрын
@William Overly Maybe you just caught him on a bad night... all entertainers have them, you know. I've seen him multiple times since the 80's and never found him to be 'disoriented.' Don't know where you get your info on the Raiders' 'drug use' or what you consider to be the 'heavy rock years.' ('Kicks' was an anti-drug song btw.) I'm sure they indulged a bit, but It was fact that Dick Clark didn't sign on to performers that were into drugs. If you followed him online, you'd know that Mark's had a lifetime of vision problems, including surgeries for retinal problems. Hence the dark glasses from the late 80's to recent years. Also fact that he's an avid runner and has always lead a healthy lifestyle.
@williamoverly16174 жыл бұрын
@@60s70sVintageRock l yield to your assessment, Vin. You could be totally correct. I saw him during a performance at a college. It may have just been all the traveling and, yes, I do agree they never seemed to have any controversy over drugs, (although during the 60s and 70s drug use by rock groups was, indeed, prevalent. Janis Joplin, Jiimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, even the Stones and the Beatles all were into it). I may have been assuming something that was inaccurate about the Raiders. Thank you for your response. Frankly, I loved their music and was a fan. I thought KICKS and INDIAN NATION were two of their best, and Mark was a great lead singer.
