on the shoutout thing, Mrbeast ruined all those channels in a way the average person doesnt know about. youtube sees subscribers that dont watch your videos as a negative for the youtube algorithm and will recommend your videos less (thats why sub botting doesnt work). so even if the channels he shouted out were able to move past the "shouted out by Mrbeast" label they may as well just make a new channel because they have so many dead subscribers dragging their impression click through rate down to like 0.5%

I don't think this is true. I think KZbin will generally connect videos with the audience that wants to watch them with enough time, regardless of subcount/subscriber engagement. Example: there's a NASCAR KZbinr I follow by the name of S1apSh0es (180k subs) who recently uploaded a video about the history of a firearm (the AK-74). The video got very underwhelming views in the first week (I recall 40k or so) while recommending it to his existing motorsports audience & subscriber base, but then took off after KZbin connected it with the "gun" audience. It's sitting at 1.5m views now. If what you said was true, the video would never have been pushed outside of his niche due to low CTR. If KZbin sees that someone doesn't engage with recommendations from a certain channel (even if they're subscribed), they will stop being recommended that channel's videos. Afterwards, that subscriber doesn't affect their CTR. Sub botting doesn't work because anyone who needs to sub bot doesn't make anything worth watching.

MrBeast isn't a great platform for that for sure. Shoutouts can work, but it needs to be more nuanced. The channel shouted out still needs a good audience already, the channel shouting out needs to be in the same niche, and it seems to work best when they act more as advertisements asking to subscribe if you're interested, not just asking everyone to pump up the sub count.

Saying MrBeast is the antithesis of art has resonated so well with my thought on him for the last years. Let's be honest, he started with a dream, a group of friends and one hell of a great analytical mind. He tried stuff, figured out the formula and here we are. He is absolutely incredible in the sense he takes so much time unravelling the algorithm and the current trends. And yeah, he is as far from art as one can get when we see art as this free-spirited type of expression. What he does, he does masterfully but its becoming so devoid of meaning and depth. I don't know man, Jimmy just always rubbed me in a strange way. He never felt personable even in the beginning (especially then). His crew was personable. He uses everything and everyone like tools to get what he wants and its scary how effective he is. I'm not saying he is not a good person or that what he achieves is meaningless. Its just how he always formulated videos that made me understand him that way. Back in the days when he used to shoutout Pewdiepie so that T-series wouldn't surpass him, it used to be meant as this funny thing a smaller youtuber was doing. But I've always viewed it as this dude is farming views that way. He is just being ingenious in how he goes about it. Thinking outside the box. Now, he's creted this giant MrBeast box that works and everybody is stuck in it in turn. I think Jimmy is scary intelligent and that everything he does, he does with reasearch analysis and formulas. Come on bro, stop and think for a second. They aren't useful videos meant to educate the consumer or to help people making videos, it's literally just marketing and manipulation. The same tricks and schemes he uses in his regular videos, and it worked wonderfully on you. They're just ads. The videos are super short without any actually useful information in them, they hype up the product and claim it's "the most useful" or "the best" tools, and then ends with a call to action to subscribe to the product. What he doesn't say is that none of those tools will help you make an actually good or interesting video. They won't help you develop creative ideas, or write them in an engaging way, or give you any real info about why something works or not. Just like his regular videos are all faked and produced to create an interesting narrative, but still sold to the audience in a certain way to seem completely authentic, all of those same marketing tricks can be, and are, applied to every single product, video, or appearance he makes. ALL of it is finely curated to trick you into thinking a certain way about a certain product and about his brand as a whole. It's the next version of radio or TV's ads for the next generation, and just like those mediums were EXTREMELY effective for that generation when they first resonated, this version is just as effective on this generation, and seemingly also on you to some extent.

I love the Faustian turn this video took, and how the title referenced it from the very beginning. I think Mr.Beast means well in the things he does (like with his socialblade website trying to help other youtubers) but I think your point that he isn't vulnerable as a human being connects to how this can be harmful and discouraging to creators when they don't see themselves getting the numbers they thought they would.
