This 90’s team was so balanced and promising! Imagine having Larry Nance, Hot Rod Williams, Brad Daugherty, Mark Price, Craig Ehlo, and Ron Harper all on the same team! Gritty, smart, full of talent, and clutch shooting when needed. Just sad that that MJ and the Bulls were in the same conference. Otherwise, Cleveland would definitely have multiple championships. Magic Johnson once called these Cavs the team of the 90’s.

@@PIP...33 I get that, but I think that the Cavs were a more balanced, all-around better team than Michael Jordan’s 80’s Bulls. He did have Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant, but they were young and not playing to their full potential. Besides that he had good role players in Bill Cartwright, John Paxson, e.t.c. , but the Cavs had a Hall of Fame coach in Lenny Wilkens, a good veteran scorer in Larry Nance, a good role player in Craig Ehlo, a young and capable duo in Brad Daugherty and Mark Price (during the 80’s, both averaged close to 20 points a game and for their careers, were selected to the all-star team a combined 9 times), and great defensive presences in Hot Rod Williams and Ron Harper. Michael Jordan was truly the determining factor for the Bulls to win that series, and he was the reason that the Bulls always beat the Cavs, but without him, Bulls don’t even make it to the playoffs, and if he missed that finals shot in Game 5, Cavs could go on to beat the Pistons and win the Championship. With a team as great defensively as the Cavs were, and the fact that they would have had to attack multiple guys that were threats, instead of one big threat in Michael Jordan, I give the Cavs a good chance.

Huh, before the knee injury, he had great bounce off the floor. His athleticism allowed him to split double teams and break the other team's D down. "Can't play defense"? He had OVER 900 steals in his career! His assists are on every highlight video of him. Him getting out on the break was terrifying for the other team. Listen to Isaiah Thomas talk about him. Great video. Thanks. I will take issue with your statement that Mark Price recovered "fully" after his knee injury. I think he only came back to about 70%. That bounce off the floor, and changing directions on a dime were never again as dynamic. He couldn't split the double teams as easily anymore. Now, he was still very effective after the injury but more dependent upon his guile than athleticism. I think, without the injury, he's in the Hall of Fame.

Mark price was like a mix between John Stockton and Steve Nash, and Daugherty was like Tim Duncan with a bit more flair. Those late 80's-early 90's Cleveland teams were literally a young prime MJ away from possibly getting to a finals. Trading Harper was one of the worst trades maybe in NBA history and even tho they got to the ECF in 92, they were never as good without young Harper who could legit compete against MJ on both ends of the court. 3:12, correction, Len Bias was the 1985 ACC player of the year.

I wonder what would have happened if they had kept Kevin Johnson and allowed him to become the really good point guard that he became. Still that was a nice tour you had to get past some very tough teams including the perennial Eastern conference champs in Boston. That's the Bad boys Detroit team along with a really good 76ers squad and of course the Chicago bulls. Cleavon was always the odd team out.

Mark Price. Easily consistently in my top 3 favorite non-Knicks (actually, easily a bigger fan of this guy than about half of the players on my Knicks on my 36 years watching them/NBA lmao --- VASTLY underrated player, even in his era. Look up one of those "former NBA players talk about Price & his shot" videos or like, "mark Price as told by his peers" or some shit.... that's always, for ME at least, the best way to either learn more about one of ur favs of ur fav team, or about someone's game you don't know all that much about.... I'd bet my lucky 4th teste that he'd be KILLING IT in today's NBA. He played more or less like that back then, imagine this dude was just entering college now, having grown up in the "3 pt revolution????" He ne a 60/50/90 guy lol... Fun fact (and when I say FUN I mean painful, doubly for me as such a big fan of his AND as a long time Knicks fan)--- in just about any and every simulation I do (NBA2K, Strat, that "what if" website, forget the name, and shit even AI now), the Knicks beat the Rockets in 1994, if they come thru on the heavy rumors of the time, that we were trying to acquire Mark Price as our PG, but wound up with Derek Harper--- still a very good player and one of my fav Knicks.... but Price would've been arguably the most explosive, exciting Knick since Bernard King, and joining up with Prime Ewing, The Towers of Death, Mase & Oakley, AND being a professional PG that could not only reel in Starks but match and BETTER him, 3pt shot for 3pt shot??? All while playing pesky D, and having Ewing to bail out everyone or play the in & out game with??? Even if 94 finals went 7 vs Houston, Price's ability ALONE puts out that 3-17 or whatever the F it was from Starks, more or less costing us the game.... not only would he have looked AWAY from that chucker, leave HIS SHOT open from 3 a dozen times like Starks?? He's dropping 18 to the dome without any other scoring GodDAMN I wanted Price that year ... id run to the front door and grab the NY DAILY NEWS off my stoop and instantly flip to the back sports page to see if I woke up to the dream 😅😅

The Cavs were a good late 80's to mid 90's team but just like Milwaukee and Atlanta, teams like those could never get past Philly, Boston, and Chicago during that era no matter how hard they tried. I think the Cavs should have had a backcourt of Kevin Johnson and Ron Harper and traded Mark Price to Phoenix instead IMO. Now imagine that backcourt playing the Bulls. Or better yet, not make the trade with the Suns. Now imagine that squad against the Bulls with speed, quickness, and physicality to compete. But to be honest no one was beating the Bulls anyways and Price was probably a better floor general. I just remember Kevin Johnson single-handedly torching my Lakers in the 1990 WCSF playing for the Suns which nobody ever talks about.

I guess Cleveland loses out on the best draft ever by a technicality. Officially they didn't draft Mark Price but instead traded for him on draft day. If you could say that you drafted Brad Daugherty and Mark Price along with Ron Harper in one draft then I think that may be the best draft ever. They could still say that they had the best draft day ever I'm sure I'm forgetting about somebody who may have done better. Oklahoma City definitely gets the best three drafts in a row award with Kevin Durant followed by Russell Westbrook and then James harden. That's three years in a row that are pretty hard to top. No championship came to either Cleveland or OKC from either of those incredible drafting moments.😊
