+Evilution It's unfortunate, but those are the articles that they can afford nowadays. Investigative journalism is months and months of resources that news corporations don't want to spend money on anymore. They'd rather keep their advertisers happy and leave it at that. News corporations now see themselves more as a business, rather than what it originally was supposed to be -- a public service.

+Jean Ko Din You hit the nail on the head. Journalism was once considered a public service that was free from the pressures of having to be profitable. But like the other public utilities, corporate greed reared its ugly head like the all-destroying souless monster it is. We no longer have "the news." Instead we have infotainment, clickbait, and propaganda disguised as news that confirms our bias.
@AmericanPatriot-17764 жыл бұрын
Actually journalists need to go to a different journalism school and learn it correctly, then do their job. They don't need "resources" to do their job. Yawn.

Two things i love about this interview: First, I love how this conversation is actually relevant. They're not just talking about something meaningless like famous people usually do in interviews, but they are using their voices and their influence to make people aware of a very important issue. Second, I love how even though they both have been raised Catholic, and Stephen still is, they accept the faults of the institution they have been a part of. It doesn't affect their belief, but that doesn't take away the fact that they are acknowledging the truth and saying that what the Catholic church has done is completely wrong. Thank you for a meaningful interview Colbert and Ruffalo.

All your wonderful words and you fail when it comes to why you put your faith in a dark place ..... put no faith in any man, but into God (whom Jesus Christ said we could lovingly call Him, Father). So why call it a religion .....Jesus said He was one in thought and way with the Father .....therefore it is a thought and way .....support where you are informed about the Father ....read the letter God gave to you. You see it is a one on one thing with God .....understand what it is He says about living in Truth and Justice. There is an ending to the world as we know it. Read and learn. The old Testament (throughout) tells of the end days and Jesus Christ told you how to live that you may have another life after death. You are not a body with a spirit ..... you are a spirit with a body. The body will die and if you are not wise you could experience a death of the spirit. It is not evil to be rich, but it is evil to have ill gotten gains and to live life with perversion as your master.

Nut Suarez, are you naive enough to believe that certain leftist elements in Hollywood don't have an anti-Catholic agenda??? They do. Their bigotry is very much alive and has been since Roe v Wade Jan, 1973. If you look at how movie characters who happen to be Catholic or how clergymen were portrayed prior to this date, you will see a difference, Bing Crosby in "Going My Way," "Bells of St. Mary's," Karl Malden in the Oscar-winning "On the Waterfront," Preminger's "The Cardinal," and all up to Friedkin's "The Exorcist," were mostly positive without being sugary, portrayals. After that, you would find anti-Catholic commentary, whether it be part of the story as in "The Verdict" (1982) or "Priest" (1994); or simply a gratiutious snide remark like an indignant Rob Leiberman in "Norma Rae" saying: "What are you, the Catholic Church?" or Sam L. Jackson quipping "They reproduce like Catholics"(substituting for rabbits) in "Age of Ultron." Like Mark Ruffian, I am left of Center myself. UNLIKE him, I am not of the identity politics faction.

For so many people out there it actually sullied the place that would have been a solace for the kind of heart break or the psychic damage created by the immediate abuse of the priests. Or the people who now when they go into a church feel guilty for going into a Catholic Church that could allow this to happen because 17,500 children were abused in the United States and those are the numbers from the Catholic Church itself. *It is a terrible story for the Church BUT the only possible way for the Church to heal is for the truth to be known.* This is why I love Stephen, absolutely beautiful!

I think the church needs to go back to the pre-Vatican II days and bring back the valid Mass. There were numbers of priests and cardinals present at Vat II who did not agree to the changes forced on them, and because they objected they were basically kicked out of the Church. The ones who were left were probably the pedophiles who had existed for a long time and liked the "freedoms" Vat II allowed. Many of the priests and cardinals kicked out said that they could feel the presence of Satan in the room. As a Traditional Catholic I can't even attend what is now the Lutheran Catholic of today. Thus, it's not Catholic.

I am a devout Catholic. I hate the scandal and I am sad that it took so long for the Church to own up to the heinous crimes and cover ups. BUT, and this is a big but, the church finally did come forth and we need to move on and keep our faith in Jesus who established His church and told us that He knew there would be problems. Those who are guilty will have to answer to God. Just as prisoners are rehabilitated, so are sinners. God forgives, and so must we.

I am a devout Traditional Roman Catholic. Big difference between that and the Lutheran Catholic of today. After Vat II the Catholic Church strayed and left behind the sacred dogma and liturgy and started up a whole new event completely different from the valid Catholic Mass starting with the big change with Holy Orders which was the sacred ordination of priests. Priests are no longer priests, they are Presiders, thus they do not have the blessings given to them to be able to consecrate the Eucharist. As a Traditional Roman Catholic I cannot attend the Lutheran/Catholic of today because it is not valid.

@MagusMirificus8 жыл бұрын
+Blak It's very simple: he still believes in everything the Church actually stands for, and believes that the sacredness of the institution will allow it to heal from any wounds dealt to it, even by itself. At the same time, he recognizes that official members of that Church, none of whom have some magical "Never sin again" spell cast on them when they are ordained, were flawed human beings who ended up doing terrible things, which in turn were covered up by other flawed human beings. It's the same thing as being proud of your nationality, while acknowledging that awful things your nation has done.

+Blak Colbert's faith has always confused me. He's a kind cynic, but has somehow managed to accept Jesus Christ as the answer. If it keeps him grounded, great, but having a conversation w/ him about religion would be amazing! lenn9o9n See, they're not though. The people who started the Spanish inquisition and the crusades are NOT the people who wrote the Gospels. Those people preached peace, tolerance, mercy, and understanding, not slaughter and torture. It was blasphemy of the highest order to even consider committing such atrocities in the name of God, and none of the early Church would have condoned it in a million years.
