I recently got off heroin, almost two years ago now, then off my suboxone treatment in March of this year. I finally have the ability to watch what I want to watch and actually enjoy it again. I'm able to remember what I learn and retain information again. The SRS has became my internet home, my favorite place to learn. The DJ Shipley episode literally changed my life and how I carry myself. Shawn, man I truly can't thank you enough for what you do. One love, brother.

In regards to eastern Ukraine speaking and being ethnically Russian...Stalin in the USSR picked up people and pit them there. Then he made a faux food shortage and exported all of the food out of Ukraine and starved the Ukrainians. So, there is reason for animosity from the Ukrainians.

I’m wondering if Mark read through the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend Lease Act. He seems perplexed why training isn’t the priority as opposed to what is, all supplies for military and civilian use. There’s such a bigger picture at play and Ukrainian will be paying this back for generations. The foot soldier sees it as one person at a time, but strategist are looking at the bigger picture that looks at this over the next 25years. But when your boots are only boots you wear the scope is very narrow.

Great show as always Shawn, loved it. I have been in Ukraine since April, doing similar things as Mark although not on his level. Been training and equipping medics in the UAF. Disregarding the danger of being called the cousin‘s brother‘s goldfish, I was deployed as a combat medic during the counter-offensive between Izyum and Lyman in September/October. I have to disagree with Mark on the Ukrainian Army not advancing and just filling in Russian abandoned positions. The UAF kicked the shit out of the Russians even though it came at a high cost of losses and injured. They forced them to retreat by cutting off supply lines, which led to the front collapsing. During the three weeks I was there, we advanced dozens of kilometers over a very wide front with several battalions working together. Yes, it was in no way comparable to Fallujah, also due to the fact that there were mostly small villages instead of big cities. Regarding the reason why individual soldiers do not have all equipment provided by Ukraine, I also would like to add that the $60 billion of aid to Ukraine is not a pallet of money that Ukraine can use as they see fit. Rather it is a lot of surplus material, long-term military aid, increased US presence in Europe and restocking of US weapons. I still enjoyed listening to the different viewpoints and agree with Mark on many things. Thank you for the show

It's to pay the salaries of the people who ran the gov, all the way down to the dog catcher of each town. And does not include ammo and other supplies for the army, we are constantly sending that separately. It's probably 200 billion in weapons and ammo, if not more. And none of it is audited, so we don't really know where any of it goes. And this is known as one of the most corrupt countries known. So we shouldn't be surprised when grenade launchers show up south of our border. This is one of the most corrupt undertakings our gov has ever done. And there won't be 1 young man left standing if it keeps up. It's just a shame of all shames. It could have been stopped from the get go, if boris Johnson didn't step in and stop the peace agreement. Wonder what he gets out of this

I really appreciate what you are doing and your candour in speaking about it. I don’t agree with your comments on Ukraine government - Ukraine is a very new country, they’ve only been independent for 30 years and have never fought a war, let alone trained an equipped almost 800k soldiers. It’s understandable to be frustrated but keep in mind that it takes decades to affect change at that scale, even when you are fighting for your life. I think the next 6-12 months we will see significant change in the combat readiness of Ukrainian troops and a change in tactics .

I’ll be honest I think Mark is taking his experience and extrapolating it on things he didn’t know about. He clearly doesn’t know where the funding has gone and only uses his anecdotal experience to say that it’s been ineffective. Ukraine would be dead without US aid. Sorry but it’s true. The US aid is working but unfortunately buying boots for winter when you’re out of artillery shells in summer isn’t going to happen. You’ll see they’ll get the winter shit if they need it. Plus Ukrainians have lived with winter all their lives, they have boots. Like saying an Alaskan need the gov to buy him a winter coat. He’s got 3 at home.
@toddpacker9818
@toddpacker9818 Жыл бұрын
@@Legalizeasbestos well, first off, Ukraine would be dead if it weren’t for Ukrainians standing up and fighting. Look at Afghanistan, you need people who’ll die for their country. Secondly winters in Ukraine are nasty. Boots and a coat are one thing sure. But when Russia is systematically attacking the power supply of your country and forcing people to live below zero (a terrorist act) you need more than just your normal boots and coat.

Here's the deal with the differences between Western Ukraine (original Ukrainians) and Eastern Ukraine concerning the predominantly Russian speaking population. To my understanding the reason why there are so many Russians there is because when Ukraine was under Russian control a artificial famine was created by the Russian government & a ton of Ukrainians essentially starved to death. This happened many years ago & Russians have moved in to the former Ukrainian areas & done so "en masse"; therefore the formerly predominant Ukrainian areas in the East are now Russian sympathizers because most of them are from Russia & now living on murdered people's land essentially. So you can't have a vote and it'd be a legitimate vote on whether the Donbos wants to be part of Ukraine or Russia because of the aforementioned history.

One more incredible show Mr. Shawn, I am following your shows for some time and don't have words to describe what are you doing, freaking amazing. Mr. Mark has the total right to be disappointed with Ukraine and what's going out there, I am from one small country in EU Croatia 🇭🇷, 30 years ago we had a similar fight for independence with Serbia "small Russians" backed up by the Yugoslavian army and in the beginning, we fought with hunting guns and light weapons from territorial defense but after 3 years we upgrade, equipped and trained our army and with operational "Storm" in 95' in 48 hours liberated 1/3 of occupied territories and push aggressor to his borders. If you really want independence and freedom you need to fight for it not defending what you have. Now we are a peaceful country members of EU and NATO, and a leader of stability in the region.

Except the fake "Vlad" P. Quote in the beginning. "We could take UA in 2 weeks" He never said that and it was never part of the operation. He literally said "demilitarize". The way you demilitarize is either peacefully or by destroying the entire military through a long drawn out battle of attrition. Ironically the "SMO" has been demilitarizing NATO as we drain out Patriot, Javelin and 155 artillery rounds to the point that all shipments have been postponed until next year. And the next batch of arms will not be shipped until March. And it's well known on the ground that at least 50% of everything we send them is sold by local Banderite warlords.

Love the interview, but he’s dead wrong about Russia and their abilities to fight wars. We’ve literally only seen about %15 of Russia’s power. They basically have their JV team in right now, saving the varsity for NATO. What I’m saying is confirmed by 3 different former analysts for the CIA. If people really believe Russia is weak, then they have no idea what comes next.

He's either lying or ignorant to the situation. He's parroting the same propaganda that we get from CNN or fox news (remember WMDs in Iraq). This is not an all out war they call it "SMO" for a reason. The RU ground forces are not even in UA. It's the DPR and LPR militias supported by RU materials and the Air Force that are fighting UA. RU just mobolized troops for the first time 1 month ago and they have yet to deploy into the country. The official speech given by "VP" was pretty clear, he never said "we are going to annex your country in two weeks". What he said was "demilitarize". How do you demilitarize a military that puts up a "fight", you pull them into a long drawn out battle of attrition and destroy their weapons as they approach the Frontline. This is why RU occupies territory and then pulls out willingly. It is to draw UA forces into a bottleneck and out stretch their supply lines. The lack of significant NATO arms shipments in the last few months is prood that this is working. The US is draining Patriot, Javelin and 155mm artillery rounds. And our military industrial output is incapable of maintaining this conflict. We had 20,000 Javelin Missiles in storage before 2022. Since then we have sent 10,000 to UA and Raytheon only produces 250 per year. We had 2million 155mm rounds in 2021. Since then we have sent 800k to UA and we only produce 5,000 per month. Meanwhile RU produces 3 million 152mm artillery rounds *per month* , and launches 2.25m rounds per month. NATOs industrial output is geared for low intensity proxy wars in the Middle East and Africa. It is not prepared for a real conflict. This has been proven by our lackluster supply lines in these conflicts and ammo shortages since 2020. RU has 50% of the world's natural resources and has HD a pseudo war economy since 2000. It's not surprising that they can maintain this conflict indefinitely while simultaiouslt freezing out the SU and draining US weapon stores. As a retired combat Marine and American we need to dump these puppet "countries" (UA, Taiwan province, southern Korea etc) before our national defense pays the long term price.

You're comparing our current military and economy to Ukraine. I think it's probably more accurate to compare Ukraine to USA in the revolutionary war. We were young, our army was volunteers. We had to have help from France. We had to have Prussian Stueben train Washington's army. This is Ukraine's war for independence. They're fighting a stuck in the mud, tight hierarchy like the British army was vs. a scrappy, guerrilla style army on their home turf like the American army was. Very similar! It's a miracle we won. It's going to be a miracle when Ukraine wins.

Every penny that we've spent in Ukraine has been well worth it in my opinion. The data and intelligence the USA is gathering from seeing many of our defensive and offensive systems go against the best the Russians can field on the battlefield is priceless. We now know the Russian military is terrible and can't hold a candle to what the USA can put on the battlefield and not a single US servicemen has been harmed in the process. All the intelligence and wargaming over the last 60 years has been pointless compared to what we've learned in the last 9 months. Plus, our main adversary has lost thousands of pieces of equipment and lost immeasurable military strength. It's horrendous what the Ukrainians are going through but this can potentially ensure American military dominance for the next 50 years. A few tens of billions of dollars is well worth it.

So u think Russia is bringing their best huh? I don't know, putin don't strike me as being too stupid. Their gpd is greater than ours right now, they are not in debt, we on the other hand are on the brink of financial collapse. They also now have the other super power on their side. They are able to manufacture weapons and ammo at 10 times the rate that we can, so can afford to lose more weapons. It is said that we would be lucky to last 3 weeks in a war with China, and that was before we sent 75percent of our weapons stock to Ukraine. And some say yea but it was old stuff, and we can make new, but we cannot make new at the rate needed for a 1 front war, let alone a 2 front. I wouldn't be getting all excited about this war being in our favor, we dont have all the facts. Altho some truth is slowly coming to the top

I've studied the Holodomor years ago. I feel bad for the people of Ukraine. That being said, HOW THE FUCK did the Ukraine elect Zelensky? He's not "Ukrainian". He's a fucking elitist puppet boy. He's gotten Ukraine into this war to kill as many Ukrainians as possible. The worst part is that Ukrainian's don't seem to realize this. Zelensky's grandfather and three great uncles fought in Russia's "RED ARMY". It's FUCKING MIND BOGGLING how Ukrainian's could be fooled by this fucking wolf in sheep's clothing. Russia is essentially trying to finish the job they didn't finish in the Holodomor. Russia is corrupt, Ukraine is corrupt, the USA is corrupt. The USA belongs to NATO so OF COURSE they are not going to fight Russia directly. Are you nuts ? Everyone in NATO would be obligated to join in. The USA is suffering MASS inflation, which is getting worse and worse. There's no fucking way the USA can afford all this aid to Ukraine and everyone else they give aid to. Not to mention, the USA as a nation is battle fatigued. The GWOT is the longest war in the history of the USA. As far as this guy being some kind of scholar on contemporary Ukraine and or Ukraine's history... yeah... he's obviously ignorant to all of that. Just because you go spend even an ENTIRE YEAR in Ukraine... that does not equate to an accurate knowledge of how everything has historically worked, is working now or how things are evolving. Each person who serves in the military and or combat has DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES. Even people in the same unit, platoon or even squad.

Russia withdraws from areas because they don’t (didn’t at the time anyways) have enough troops and they have ZERO reason to try and hold territory that does NOT matter to them and needlessly lose men killed/captured. Plus they often withdraw, allow AFU forces to come in and then hit them with massive artillery barrages. However everything is about to change very soon with the influx of 300K+ more troops and finally bringing their more modern equipment in (now that they’ve destroyed so much western equipment and didn’t risk getting their own more modern/expensive/effective equipment destroyed early on). Life is about to get much worse for Ukrainians sadly. This is the dumbest war, and the dumbest western response, in my lifetime this far. American leaders don’t care about Ukrainian loss of life. They care about using Ukrainians as cannon fodder to kill as many Russians as possible, and destroy as much Russian armor and weaponry as possible, for their own geopolitical goals and maintaining their power and control (which is also decreasing thanks to their own incompetence and forcing our adversaries into one another’s arms as allies). It’s just a train wreck that we have no control over and have to sit back and watch, hoping it affects us as little as possible (depending on where in the world you live, that’s gonna be very different though).

Is there any evidence that the Ukrainian forces take heavy losses from artillery or that Western equipment is being destroyed? Following the Russian retreat from Izyum and the Kharkiv region, we saw upwards of 15,000 Russian POWs in Ukrainian hands- with the photo and video proof to back it up. At the same time, basic OSINT has shown us that Russian losses are more then 3.5x larger then Ukrainian losses, with NATO supplied equipment faring exceptionally well. Oryx has visually documented only 125 artillery, UAV, IFV/APC/MRAP/SPA losses of the ~1,500 provided to Ukraine since the start of the war. We've also seen photos of Russian pilots resort to using Garmin GPS's to fly some of their most advanced aircraft, such as the Su-34 and Su-30 due to their radios being unencrypted. We've also failed to see evidence of mobilized units that have either high morale or modern equipment. For nearly 6 months now we've seen DPR and LPR forces being handed Mosins instead of AKs, and the newly mobilized units have even been handed 7.62 AKs meaning that Russia has likely depleted its reserves of AK-74s and is low on 5.45. All this points to a strong Western response that has not only stripped Russia of much of its modern equipment, but also caused China to rethink its Taiwan goals- something that cannot be understated.

U r spot on imo. Boggles my mind how so many people think just the opposite. They think Russia has used its best arms, best men, and according to our media, they have lost 512,034 men, I mean they have it down to the last man, but supposedly Ukraine has only lost 30,000. Anybody that believes this has to be dumb as a rock. Every day in my news feed, there is all these heroic blowup of Russian this or that. Seems the Ukrainians never get killed or hit. I've never seen or heard so much propaganda. Russia gdp is higher than ours, but we supposedly have weakened them financially. Some ex military say that Ukraine is losing men, 3 to 1, and I believe it, because Ukraine is short of men, and are now taking prisoners on to fight..after mocking Russia for doing the same thing. Then this guy tells how they don't even have boots or a rifle...wonder why?

So Ukraine has captured Kharkiv (first with force, although as the lines collapsed it was rather easy) and holds positions around Donetsk (Balaklya,Bakhmut,...) where russian supply lines are great and the russians have a massive artillery support, but you say that the ukrainans don't do any fighting and the russians just run away. Without resistance russians wouldn't run away (Kiyv,Kherson) and they don't always do. There is a bit of truth in it, but you use that to discredit the ukrainian army completely. Shame on you. ps: You don't mention what forces you were teaching and where you were in ukraine. You clearly have only a limited view on the situation, which you didn't even acknowledged.

@@dwightchaos9449 It's true, I'm not on the ground and I actually live in europe. That does not mean that I can not make any logical conclusions. I read a lot of sources in english, german and russian. *Is Ukraine fighting at the top of their abilities ? probably not, since most soldiers and newly mobilized men weren't prepared for a massive invasion, some issues with corruption are present, ... *Is Ukraine doing nothing ? Clearly not, they have mostly stalled the advance and shown some success in the counteroffensive. Most western experts didn't believe Ukraine would last even a month. After 9 months and >1.500 russian tanks destroyed (look up oryx) we can't deny that ukraine has success. *Is russia incapable of fighting ? Partially. I still wouldn't want to fight against >500.000 men armed at least with a kalashnikov and supported by thousands of armored vehicles, massive air and artillery strikes even if they are inaccurate. *conclusion: Turner has a limited view on the situation (he didn't even mention where exactly he has been in ukraine) and is denouncing ukraine. I do believe there is corruption/theft in ukraine and other issues (it's common in former soviet countries), but the average soldier is brave to stand up for his country and fight for it. It's important to support them with training, armor and fighting vehicles. Otherwise putin will be successful and will start new invasions. Some propagandists on russian TV are currently talking about invading the baltic states and kasachstan. And the monetary cost (per year) for ukrains freedom and putins punishment is comparable to the investment US made into afghanistan were the afghan army did just run away from the taliban.

Couple of points here: 1. Ukraine doesn’t get The Money it gets equipment, so if US “stops the flow” Ukraine will be just out of ammo, and all those previous efforts would be pointless, and from all that sums of money being discussed Ukraine gets third part best case scenario, it’s all in US laws how money are spend and where they go, so stop being propaganda when it comes to that topic. 2. Language. Last time this guy said he is Scottish but he speaks English, so according to his logic he is an Englishman, 70% of US is England and 30% Spain. How about Arabic countries? one language one religion one ethnicity but about 12 countries. Ukraine was occupied by russia for centuries and 70 years by soviets during that time Ukrainian language was banned 140 times, russians were performing terror famine and replacing ukrainians with russians, but in 1991 90% of Ukraine population voted for independence. Many European countries have as many as 4 official languages. 3.People that consider themselves russian: not to many of them but russian infiltration in the government was serious, in 2013-2014 the minister of defense had russian citizenship, and Ukraine had about 30K people that were able to fight, again if half the country was prorussian why not join russia back then. 4.russian army is really bad and stolen washing machines and microwaves were found in their tranches, they also committed huge amount of crime against civilians, and it’s not an Army by US standards but they are able to fire 60000(!) artillery rounds every day, US army never experienced that, so US civilians with rifles would be useless, 90 % of casualties in this war is artillery. Ukrainian army cuts the supply lines making russians leave living their equipment behind, this strategy proves to be effective and efficient. 5. Looks like the Scottish-Illinois guy is tired from Ukraine, and he knows it’s for years, so his mind is trying to find dumb excuses to be done with it

Ukraine has been sent 100billion in money, over 200billion in equipment. The money supposedly is to run their government, down to the smallest, dog catchers salary. The money is not monitored in any way, this is why the Republicans didn't want to send more unaccounted for cash. Pretty sure they speak English in Scotland. You can tell by his accent he's Scottish. The Ukrainians in the donbass, and Crimea voted to be under Russian control, to speak Russian etc. They were being bombed by western Ukrainians in 2014, there was war there, after they voted, they asked Russia to come in and liberate them, Russia did. Then because of Russia heading up the BRICS, along with China, and several other countries wanting to establish their own currency, and stop using the dollar, and working toward becoming a multipolar world, the U.S. Will not tolerate that. This is what the war is about, nothing more, nothing less. These other countries are doing this because of sanctions, and to weaken the U.S. You won't hear this on msm, because they don't want the truth to be known. But it's the same reason we destroyed Khaddafi/Libya, because they tried to go away from the dollar and go to gold. The U.S. would never allow this. I guess the Russians wanted to wash their clothes in the tranches?
