@AlexZander6883 жыл бұрын
Yep. And some all-time greats like O'Sullivan need and use that bravado/ego to keep their game at a high level of play. They make comments like that to push themselves to back it up and perform better. Gareth Potts shows a bit of emotion when playing the Chinese 8-ball tournaments. And then you look at some of the recent elite Chinese players that are winning, they are so robotic, so stoic. I guess the world's best come different varieties. After a match, they might smile a bit. But during a match, it is basically the same face make or miss.
@bernieatkins51823 жыл бұрын
The comments were not "slamming". Mark was more just answering the questions the interviewer asked and relating to what Ronnie said. "The stuff he says is utter nonsense." "You never get Tiger Woods, Federer, Nadal saying stuff like that about their fellow pros." After that, the furthest he goes is just relating to Ronnie as Ronnie being Ronnie. It's the way Ronnie O'Sullivan has been for years. That isn't slamming someone. For the majority of the interview, he talks about how he went and how he tried his best to win. His best wasn't good enough to win but he still enjoyed it. If Mark was slamming Ronnie, I'd say the manner in which he would have been speaking would not have been so calm.

One thing that you notice about Ronnie O'Sullivan is that he notices his shots, and positioning very fast. Another thing you notice about him is that he doesn't suffer from shot apprehension like other players do which is a fear factor that if you miss the shot you will allow the other player to win the game. Another thing about Ronnie O'Sullivan is that his interviews often don't make any logical sense. Savants often have different personality traits to the average person, and in Ronnie O'Sullivan this is a clue to his ability to play snooker so well. 1/ Fast Play 2/ Lack of Fear 3/ Missing apprehension. 4/ Communication problems. When you add all of this together you find that the answer lies in a faster than normal thinking process that skips past logic, and fear. The tongue is faster than the rationality. He can think of the next shot, and position really fast, and eliminate the time that it takes to feel any shot apprehension. He will do an interview, and say that all of the younger players are rubbish, because his apprehension hasn't kicked in yet. He will win a game easily, but say that he played badly, because his logical thinking hasn't kicked in by the time that he speaks. It is almost like he has avoided fear in his life as a form of defence, and to avoid that fear he does everything so quickly that fear doesn't have time to develop. Pincho Paxton

I think that the way he presented his case has brought him in for a lot of criticism, he could have said it in a more respectful way, as Mark says, take any other "ambassador" of a sport, the top guys in Tennis for e.g. Nick Kyrgios, he's got real natural talent too, but he brings with it an attitude, and some disrespect towards other professionals. They are entitled to their opinions I guess, but no one's kidding on that anyone is impressed with the way they are expressing it
@LaneyStudios54 жыл бұрын
I mean yeah Ronnie is obviously extremely talented, but his tone and attitude towards people who are not as skilled as him is pretty rude, disrespectful and just downright unpleasant, I feel like if any other player had said the things that Ronnie said then they would be lambasted, but because Ronnie has that talent and the big name and the adoring fanbase he gets defended for saying these things, and there's just no need for it, at the end of the day all of the players are trying their hardest, and there's a big difference between saying 'I am the best Snooker player', and 'All other Snooker players are of a poor quality', there's no need for it, and especially in a sport that should be a good example of civility and camaraderie amongst it's players

Unfortunately, the KZbin algorithm derates the video if those buzzwords aren't used. Slammed, reacts, heated, etc...all get your video preference. I've seen several content creators complain about having to do it. That's one reason you see a creator's titles get repetitive. And he doesn't criticise players really. He criticises the system. I totally agree with him. There should be the main tour and tour B, like in Formula 1, 2 etc. Players who do well in Tour B replace the poorest players of the main tour. If they play in Tour B regularly on a PROPER match table in proper conditions then they have a chance to improve and to find some consistency in their game. Otherwise they can be talented like Sunny Akani or Slessor but then they lose to much older players with experience on playing matches on a match table.That's his point, the way I see it.

Disliked for clickbait title that only incites unnecessary drama. Interview itself was classy and respectful and enjoyed watching it.

In the interview straight after the match he said "no doubt Ronnie said he played shit like he always does!" So he clearly has Ronnie's number. Hardly slamming his comments, he just knows him well.

Problem is older players have that experience of match play. Its always gonna be tough on younger players

I m a huge Ronnie fan but Mark is right,he shouldn't be so harsh on other players,especially when his level of game is very often below amateur,even though he won the tournament.Mark is so classy.I remember his winning frame against Higgins...that middle pot...wow...

He said he'd need to lose an arm and a leg to drop out of the top 50 and has attacked players who were in the top 64, and even if you were right McGill is currently in the semi-finals of thr World Championship and is ranked in the 40s. Jamie Clarke, seed 81 or so beat world number 4 Mark Allen who made 5 centuries and Kurt Maflin beat John Higgins. Ronnie just talks shit all the time.

Ronnie statement is the hard truth really... I know the ex players who are pundits dont really want to admit it on TV but the standard overall is average right now. A lot of these guys stick around because its easy to stay in the top 16 never mind top 50

He is exactly right. O’Sullivan does talk nonsense most of the time. He is a freak of nature when it comes to snooker. He is a master in nearly every category but is prone to talking bollocks from time to time.

If a genuine young snooker player listened to Ronnie o Sullivan ,it would only make them try much harder and up their practice etc Any young player upset by his comments are far too sensitive for this tough amazing sport

@zain94764 жыл бұрын
Q School* as in qualification school, it's a tournament for amateurs which by the end of it sees 12 of them earn a tour card and become professional, it takes place in a sports centre nearby the crucible in Sheffield I think, alongside the World Championship every year
