It seems that a little perspective is needed here. Firstly, congratulations to both players on a gritty, hard-fought, see-sawing match. A battle of titans if ever there was one. Very different players, but both masters of their craft. I would add that if one could combine the very best of what Selby and O'Sullivan bring to the game into one snooker player, then that player would be unbeatable. But what is this nonsense about Ronnie's "bizarre" post-match interview? To anyone who has followed his career and watched his interviews for even a short time, that was just standard Ronnie fare. Tongue-in-cheek all the way. The man is not obligated to give pat answers to mind-numbingly boring questions by the hypocrites in the snooker media. Nor does he have to incorporate any particular style of play in his matches, as approved by superannuated commentators, his opponents or the public at large. I respect Mark Selby enormously and am a huge fan of his talent and his incomparable grit and tactical prowess. But his remarks concerning Ronnie's supposed disrespect to him and to the game are unwarranted, as well as showing him up as a seriously bad loser. In all his interviews, Ronnie has had nothing but the highest praise for Mark's abilities, his skill, focus and determination. So, O'Sullivan decided to play a few hit and hope shots during his match. The question on the table is: So what?? Is a little gamesmanship a new concept to all these armchair experts? Or is it something only available to every other snooker player who ever lived, but NOT to Ronnie, lest he cops yet more criticism from the chattering classes? The man has done more for snooker, its profile and popularity in England and around the world than most other players combined, a fact readily attested to by the snooker pundits. How quickly they forget...

I woke up this morning and my mum said "Do you want some scrambled eggs" , and I said to her "To be honest mum, it's really all to do with the cue action"

The worst thing for Kyrie is that he's not even hit his stride yet

I had to pause the less than 5 minute video to gather myself. I am laughing too hard and people are sleeping here. If you are not a fan, I can imagine you hate him even more now but what a guy! Doesn't give a toss and takes the piss every chance he gets. And he has a half good game (cue action) to carry all his antics through.

I’m pretty sure he’s just trying to concentrate on his Cue Action

Nothing bizzare about it, just Ronnie being Ronnie.

You know what, I think I understand him. And I think these are the words of an enlightened player, cringy as that might sound. He's not interested in where he's playing or who he's up against. He's playing against the table, not against the opponent. Like a swimmer, you have to do the best you can inside your lane, instead of worrying over this or that rival in the other lane. Snooker may be a "story" to *us*, the viewers, but not to the players. Selby wasn't concerned with valiantly stopping Ronnie's comeback at the last moment. He was just trying to keep his head in the game and get over the line. And Ronnie is just taking it one frame at a time. As he should.

Just like asking a boxer loads of random questions and he just says "its about punching people" "if you can punch people that's it"

As an artistic photographer I feel I am listening to a man describe the feelings of a true artist. I think he is saying no money, no acclaim is worth discussing as it is not how I think. My main focus is my love of this beautiful game and if I play it beautifully I feel it gives me everything I want from the game. I think Ronnie is a man of great class and humility. He embodies the best of the British attitude towards sportsmanship. Not the winning but the taking part, “ not for the sake of a ribboned coat or the selfish hope of a seasons fame”. No wonder he has had issues with depression he is a man with a very heightened and elevated sensitivity and obsessed with excellence in a way that I regard as a throwback to a better era.
