Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg recently ran a sub 20-minute 5k at the age of 38 and we think there is a LOT every runner can learn from The Zuck.
If you want to run faster too then in this video we'll share the 3 surprising things he did that you can do too that we think had a big impact on training.
If you'd like to run a sub 20-minute 5k like The Zuck did then grab a training plan here: coachparry.com/p6mw-5k-Traini...
When you're ready we'd love to help you become a better runner:

Ran my first ever 10k last week and it was 59 mins 53 secs. I m 38 and I’m pumped for another 10k in 2 months. Hoping to finish under 50 mins.

Staggering.. please! The dude can afford the best PTs and facilities out there. I ran a sub 40 10k at 52 in a small local race. Nothing special. Got annihilated by two three older guys including a woman 😅

I didn't run my first sub-20' 5K until I was 61. I was more focused and did more speed work as well as doing 80/20 running with only 20% hard.

I run a 19:40 parkrun last August during my marathon training block. I was 37 at the time. As long as you run more than 50K a week consistently, sub 20 5K will come very naturally.

There's no denying that a high level of physical fitness, good running technique and a positive mindset all help. However, your genetic makeup also determines the limiting threshold for physiological factors that affect your performance.

Read a couple articles about Zuck’s running. He didn’t build an aerobic base. He didn’t run slow to run fast. He didn’t allow weeks of build up. He didn’t train sports specifically. He broke all the rules! 😂 🏃‍♂️

TRT. How is it that science minded runners can’t figure this one out.

Keep in mind that this might work only for very short races like 5k when you can rely fully on your anaerobic system because you simply finish before get totally exhausted. I believe that even extending to 10k might be achievable as it's still fairly quick race (when pacing hard). Note that it's more about the duration and not distance. Most of us can sustain anaerobic/threshold load up to 40-60 minutes (I heared this couple of times on various running channels). However, there is limit when this will eventually fall apart for everyone: not being able to improve throughout the training, not finishing the race or in worst case it ends with ijnuries. So basically yes, with enough recovery and/or cross training you can breake all rules and be still successful for quick races. But as the distance you're aiming is bigger and bigger, it simply stops working :)

Zuck is a great athlete. One problem with cross training is injury risk. He tore his ACL recently in MMA training. It will take a while before he can get back to sparring and running again but I’m sure he will tackle his recovery with gusto.

Trained for a couch to 5k in my early 30s, and ran a 19:20. It really sucked. Feels like you’re running a 1 mile PR pace, except for a little over 3 miles. Feels like Buckerzerg is one upping me, and now I’m motivated to properly train for another 5k and aim for sub 19 minutes to know I’m still faster than a multi billionaire. He can’t have it all!

Just look at the before and after photos spanning years. I think he is on TRT like all the other tech billionaires. There is a specific training for fast 5k and specific training for strength/muscle. When someone has both at that age, they either have superior genetics or hormonally hacked. Yes, anyone can do it, even into their 50's and 60's naturally, but takes time and discipline. I'm suppose to believe he is running a multi-billion dollar company, does jiu jitsu, weights and running plans naturally? Ok.

@@edwardburroughs1489 Look at his before pictures, he didn’t have the same body type and we all know as you get up into your 30s it becomes more difficult. Sorry I don’t believe it. You can definitely gain strength and mass, but that’s a rather high-speed he’s at.

Zuckerberg isnt even that impressive, he's clearly a good allrounder who trains well and does a lot of sport. Im 40 and I know plenty of people faster than him. Theres tons of guys of 50 who can do a sub 20 5k. Its good but its not unbeleivable.@@qigong1001

I don’t think to run 5k sub 20 at 39 was nothing crazy; the problem is young people don’t want to do exercises; I started to run at 42 with 200 lbs and now at 55 with 139 lbs I’m training to run sub 37’ in 10k. Is just about what do you want with your life.

You're better than this, jumping on a bandwagon. I've enjoyed and learned from your presentations so far. Zuckerberg is a person with an almost unique make-up, not like maybe even national level athletes; that is not an endorsement of his values, by the way. I don't want to run like him, you may be alienating more people than you are recruiting.
