CHIANG RAI, THAILAND - Welcome to Chiang Rai, in the mountains at the spectacular Lanjia Lodge. On our first day, right as we arrived, we were welcomed with a spectacular local Northern Thai food lunch, and I’m going to share it all with you in this video.
First, let’s all meet Pa Nim, who is a local Aunty, and a legend for her home cooking skills. In fact, she used to have a restaurant of her own. But now cooks occasionally for events, or upon request.
Today, she made a huge feast for lunch. The food she made was Northern Thai food style, but influenced by the region, Hill Tribe cooking and ingredients. It was a superb meal. Some of the notable dishes for me were the green taro stem curry with catfish, the bamboo shoot salad mixture - life changing delicious, and the pounded grilled catfish chili dip. She was so fast cooking, and truly a memorable meal experience. On top of the great food, it's hard to have a better location to eat!

Yes Mark you nailed it! Chiangrai and Chiangmai have the best hills and views in Thailand. It is topped with the best air quality. The women are more beautiful over there too🥰. Food is excellent. That’s why you need to get a second home there😄.

Another Great Vlog Mark .. you made a statement of “ needing a jacket “ while you were walking up to the lodge and it brought back a funny vision of when we first ventured up North to Chiangmai.. coming from North America ( early January ) we were hot so we wore shorts & tee shirts.. while the locals working on a construction site were wearing down filled jackets, toques & Gloves.. we laughed at each other and waved .. great memories.. thank you Mark, Ying & Micah🙏

Woww Mark.... i used to remember our catfish from the field so very much like what you had... yellow meat... a lot of our catfish now have become mongrels when they were crossbred with an african variety...The food is a wonderful example of farm to table with indigenous produce.... It's so clear you can never replicate this in my neck of the woods in Mid Atlantic US. The vegetables, herbs, etc. just aren't here or can't be grown here. Amazing use of such a variety from that locality!
