Nan (น่าน), Thailand - Welcome to Nan, one of the most beautiful and relaxing provinces in northern Thailand. On this trip we visited Bo Kluea (บ่อเกลือ), which is a small village in the mountains known for its natural salt wells where they have harvested salt for over centuries. It’s amazing place to visit and learn about the history and the trade of salt in the area. In this video though, I’m give you a tour of the hotel we stayed at, probably the best hotel in the village, and we’re going to eat their famous fried chicken!
Boklua View Hotel (บ่อเกลือวิว รีสอร์ท goo.gl/maps/yd...) - It’s a great hotel / mountain lodge, right within the village and the mountains. From the lodge, it’s just about a 5 minute walk to the salt wells and the main walking street of the village. When you’re at the hotel, there are plenty of gardens and areas to explore and walk around. You also have a selection of different types of rooms and bungalows available. Our was all the way at the back and the top of the property.
For dinner we went to the lodge restaurant, which is very popular among Thais, both on day trips and almost everyone who stays at the lodge eats there for dinner. So you must make a booking for dinner. Along with the roasted pumpkin, one of their signature dishes is the mahkwen fried chicken, a spice that’s similar to Sichuan pepper. The fried chicken was delicious, very Chinese chili fried chicken style, dry fried, without a batter. They used a local free range chicken, so it had some delicious texture too. Amazing dish, must eat when you’re in Bo Kluea (บ่อเกลือ).
We had a great stay at Boklua View Hotel (บ่อเกลือวิว รีสอร์ท). I think the best thing about it is the natural setting, and the special fried chicken.

I swear, I feel like I get to experience where Mark, Ying and Micah go with them, like I'm standing in the same place they are!! Mark does a great job with including the followers to experience along with them, a great editor also!! I so want to go to Thailand one day to walk in Mark's footsteps!! I can't believe how much Micah has grown!! What a lucky boy to be able to travel the world with his parents, to live the life he gets too!! What adventures and stories he'll be able to tell as he grows up!! Ying is as amazing as Mark!! Not only is she an amazing wife but also an amazing mother, plus making reservations, booking trips and adventures, finding the best places to get authentic food to eat, etc...she's deff Mark's "right hand woman"!! As a side note, I'm curious if they think about having more children!?! I understand that having one child makes life easier in the respect of travel, accommodations, adventures, etc...having another baby might mean they won't travel as much. More than one would deff be a handful!! Part of me wants to see them continuing their passion of traveling for culture, architecture, experience and most of all food and part of me wants them to have a larger family if they choose!! I'd be sad and miss their outings but someday, if they choose, that they want a larger family, the very best to them!! I'm always eager to see new videos as I, like many others, live vicariously through them!! I will be a follower for life, they just seem to be so stupidly (a good thing, not bad!!) happy with their lifestyle!! I'm Eurasian like you Mark and so I was thinking there must be some amazingly tasty leafy herbs in Europe/US as well. Just people haven't figured it out yet and too stupid to eat them instead go to Lidl Aldi grocery store and eat ?!?!. I'm having to import and grow my own herbal plants, pandan, kencur, kunyit, melinjo etc... But I read a lot of fresh herbs and fermented fish sauce was used here in Western Europe as well but back in the Middle ages. Maybe the traditions were lost but so we have to rediscover or simply discover them again. I'm doing this now living in the Pyrenees I'm making fern salads pennywort smoothies and all sorts of things but it's a copie of what I'm used to in SE Asia and nobody does it apart from me. It's so green here it's sad people only buy from supermarkets.

Nan is one of my favorite provinces in Issan. Hopefully, I will get back there soon as I am able to return home to Thailand. I am one of the many ex-pats that we're unable to return because of this damn virus. Hey Mark my Thai gf and I stayed here in February. Cost was 1400 baht per night. Indeed it is a beautiful resort, with delicious dinner and breakfast buffet. However, the temperature was cold for her but I enjoyed the cool weather because I’m an American. Also our next trip to Nan , we will stay at Doi Samer Dao National Park . Here you will sleep in a tent because, no resorts here in the mountains and wake up into the clouds . Do not do in the summer because it’s to hot .

The foods look amazing and surprisingly enough there are a few things that I've tried that you've eaten but I have to tell you the traveling and showing the different countries and cultures and the smiling faces of the people that is really great. You show a lot of positive to how people are around the world thank you for that. And not being able to do a lot of traveling right now you have a way of bringing your audience in and feel what your experiencing through your videos so we're not just watching we're experiencing the culture with you so thank you to you and your wife and your son.
