Mark, I recently started shooting with a ZV-10 that I purchased after watching your videos. Now I'm watching even more to hone my photo and video. Just a question: I use the kit-lense so far...what would be the advantage buying the Sigma 16mm 1.4? AND would the Auto Focus be the same at the kit lense and the Sigma? I'm so into your videos, huge fan, you will grow fast soon:)
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis3 жыл бұрын
The Sigma will be better in lowlight and give you a blurrier background. but the kit lens has a great zoom range of the 16-50 and can be really useful and you can get great footage out of it. You can always look into other lenses later as you figure out your favourite focal lengths.

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks a lot for your quick answer:) As you said, I will test it out and maybe compare this two in the near future. @@djicerolls_gigs I promise if you get the sigma it will change your outlook on this camera. I just purchased a 50mm and a few other lenses and they just blow the kit lens away.
@mbvglider3 жыл бұрын
If you're always losing your zoom lens on 16mm, then the 16mm f/1.4 will be a huge upgrade. The 16mm f/1.4 lets in 2.7 more stops of light than, or about 6 times as much light as, the 16-50mm does at 16mm f/3.5. That means your images will be much, much cleaner in lower light. Also, even in good lighting, the prime lens will be a lot sharper and your subject will pop from the background much better than with the zoom lens. 2.7 stops is a HUGE difference; it's about the same quality difference between something like an RX100 to an A7 III. The Sigma autofocuses just as well as any Sony lens in my experience.
@TexpatOTG3 жыл бұрын
Take a look at the Samyang 12mm F2 AF .. it's a pretty cool alternative to the Sigma 16 -- but eventually the Sigma should be on your list too. I use my 16mm on the kit lens a lot, but really is limited by it's f3.5 ... auto-focus on Sigma is great, Samyang and Tamron are strong too. No problems with AF at all. Kit lens is a great starter, and very useful. Don't believe all the You-Tube experts that poo-poo it. Cheers.

Absolutely great video (I just bought the ZV-E10 after watching your review about the camera and I'm super happy with it). A beginner question: this "zoom" achieved with the SteadyShot and the Clear Image Zoom just crops the image but doesn't change the lens distortion/effect, right? So if you want the actual longer focal image (example: 50 mm for portrait) you need the optical lens.

That's really helpful for a new user of a ZV-E10 😀 Good explained and showed all functions. Only one question i did not see the answer: When you use clear image zoom and you crop in by 1.5 or 2.0, is it with the crop still in 4k or does the crop resizes the complete videoresolution? Thanks in advance for your answer and keep on with Videos of the camera 😉🙏

Wonderful informtaion. Does the active stabilization crop really not lose resolution (like when zooming in)? I have a Canon R6 which has a crop mode (works with the sensor area instead of zooming) and the resolution really equals filming at the equivalent focal length - while zooming causes severe resolution loss in comparison. Is it the same with the zv-e10?

Which is your lens, the kit or the Sigma 16? If you want more blur, use the backround blur button on the ZV-E10, or set your camera to Aperture Priority and keep you fstop as low as possible (1.4 on the Sigma). also, stand as far away from the background as you can. The more room behind you, the more out of focus blur.👍

The kit lens is nice to have - because sometimes, you just need it. But once you get some lenses, the kit lens will likely be used as a backup only. Since it’s only $100 - it’s nice to have it as a backup. The 16mm is a much wider lens that can be useful for vlogging and filming yourself in general. The 30 is a great focal length for walking around taking pictures or video where you have enough room to keep the camera away from the talent. There is a third lens which is the Sigma 56mm which is great for portraits as well 👍

Mark can you please help me choose between the Tamron 11-20 f2.8 or the sony 10-18 f.4 for my sony ZV-e10? the only thing that separated me from buying the sony ZV-E10 was the stabilization thing, but thank god I saw your catalyst browse video, now I wonder if the Tamron lens will work properly with catalyst browse as the Sony lens does. Mark, great-great content my friend, please keep it up.
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis3 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! The Tamron will work great with catalyst. The Sony 10-18 has an advantage in stability, because it is a stabilized lens, but the Tamron is faster at 2.8. It’s a tough call, but if you want that blurrier background, the Tamron is the way to go.

@@diegosarria1130 also, I will be doing a review of the 10-18 soon. I think it might be the best outdoor travel lens and vlogging lens. But only because it has stabilization. Otherwise, the Tamron would be my pick.

Here’s a random question that needs a hack answer: any ideas on how to weather protect the ZV-E10? I live in Florida & rain/humidity are a real issue. Not sure if weather sealing needs to be a dealbreaker, but curious if there’s a way around that issue for outdoor filming in weather.

I’m looking for an answer to this as well… seems like none of the nice compact cameras have weather sealing 🤦🏻♀️🙄🤦🏻♀️

a big downside i just notice is that by turning on the the clear image zoom the autofocus will be disable. the same happens by enabling the pc remote function for using a monitoring app..do u know any solution? ❤️ your content ✌️
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Жыл бұрын
clear images zoom still has autofocus, but it is a center zone autofocus and it won’t have face and eye detect (same thing with pc remote). it’s why I like to use the active stabilization for cropping instead. But you can use clear image zoom, but since it doesn’t have eye decree, if you have a person in the frame, you just have to be careful when you put objects of your hands so that the autofocus doesn’t not jump to those

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis ok great 👍 thanks for fast answering, I just wondered, because AF OFF is shown on display. So I will make some research about the center zone autofocus, because I also want to use the monitor plus app ✌️

Hi, which one would you pick between fuji xt200 and sony zve10 for casual cityscape/night photography and video making ??
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis2 жыл бұрын
probably the zt200 because it will be better for photos with the evf

Mark, This video is incredibly helpful. One question: When I connect my ZV-E10 to an HDMI cable (for streaming on Zoom or Teams meeting) and to a USB cable for power, the battery drains during my session. Should the battery be maintaining its power level? Am I doing something wrong?
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis2 жыл бұрын
No - the battery will still drain - but it should be at a slower rate. How long does it last?
@frankfountain76802 жыл бұрын
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis About 50% reduction in 2 hours
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis2 жыл бұрын
@@frankfountain7680 That's not too bad while streaming. The battery would only last you about 90-100mins total in normal operation, so still having 50% left after 2 hours sounds like it's working fine.

My old 5100s run cooler with Airplane Mode off. I don't use the wireless features except when I use the remote app, Camoodoo. Good hacks to know. I am getting a little more interested in the ZV-E10, but still think it is a bit of a lateral move. I really would like a camera with 10-bit 4:2:2 internal in an APS-C format ... I might get one ZV -- while I wait. You are pretty persuasive in your reviews of the little guy. Cheers.
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis3 жыл бұрын
Haha. Thanks JR!! 10bit would be amazing. Interesting about that airplane mode - I wonder if it’s the same for the ZV

I agree with you about monitor brightness outside, but the only problem with changing it to sunny weather etc is you are then not seeing what the photo will look like in reality, because it will be brighter, so you may tend to under expose it, then when you view it on your computer it will look too dark. Makes sense? The beauty of mirrorless is wysiwyg, which is where a viewfinder comes in handy outside in sunny weather. Hopefully on the zv-e10 mk2 :)
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis3 жыл бұрын
For me, the screen resolution is too low to get any real idea of how the pic will look in post. And that’s where I really miss the viewfinder - it’s really hard to review your images on the camera just looking at the LCD. I shoot with my zebras on, and I expose that way so that I don’t have to rely on that screen 🤣
@duncanthorn63383 жыл бұрын
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Yes, that's an option also, and I guess I could use the histogram or manual exposure indicator. I don't believe they will add a viewfinder on what they essentially market as a vlogging camera. I only use it as a photo camera, which is way advanced than my old a6400, af and tracking wise. Keep up the great work!

Just purchased the canon EFS 18-135 nano usm lense. I can remove the EFS mount to make it EF mount. I'm using the viltrox ef-eii booster. But I get vignetting throughout the focal length. Is there some setting in the camera I can change to remove the vignetting?

Mark sorry for the dumb question but that memory recall part can you break that down so I set up my photo settings first then video settings then save it?
