not if you’re relying on autofocus. Which some people may not. in fact, I don’t sometimes and I take a GH5. @@MarkBennettCameraCrisis on other cages, they extended the area around the hot shoe. I think they just messed up when making the cage for the zv-e10. Especially considering how important the whole depth of the hot shoe is because of the MI pins.

@@GadgetAddict I believe you are right. Also, the three holes on the top of the cage, blocking the hot shoe don’t fit their standard, cheap top handles. That why I ended up with the wrong one. Hopefully they’ll fix both those things.

@@sguerrero2000 yeah I saw that guys video. I just can't bring myself to spend on a new cage and then immediately weaken and damage it by cutting a section out. I love your videos and you have helped me so much. Although honestly I did buy a zv-e10 and in many ways I do love it but others I don’t. The small size, the e-lens ability to change lenses, 4K, yadda yadda, but here’s the problem. I feel like why spend all this money on gear for a somewhat “budget friendly” camera when you would probably get a much better quality camera, ibis, and better features when you end up spending just a little bit more money. In the long I feel like I’m already thanking myself for just upgrading to a Sony a74 because it is so much superior in every way. Don’t get me wrong I definitely think the zv-e10 is super cute and has its place in the arsenal but I just feel like go the extra mile, get a better camera and you will be happy every time not just some of the time. If you invest this much in extra gear why not just spend a little more now and save later in quality control. Or just get the fx30 for the same price if you are going to go apsc and skip all the fancy gear. Grab a cheap gimbal and a good lens. You’ll be set. Just my opinion.
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis2 жыл бұрын
Definitely something to think about. But you also have to think of your productions - sometimes you need multiple angles and cameras. And then the budget cameras that can get results make a really bug difference.

Hmmm, the smallrig cage I ordered doesn't have the extended grip and it actually makes the camera harder to hold, not to mention making the shutter button difficult to press. Would you be able to get stable footage with a rig like this? The extra weight and the handle would probably get rid of some of the shaking... The only reason I've not started rigging up my zv-10 is because I don't know how stable the footage would be. Because of the size and all that extra weight, I also wouldn't be able to use a gimbal. Would a flowline/flycam/glidecam be able to stabilize rigs like these, and what would be the most budget-friendly option?
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think a glidecam would work - but a flow line probably would yes. if you want stable footage, I would use the zv-e10 without this rig and get a Crane M3. if you do want to use this rig or something like it - you can look into getting a shoulder mount from small rig. it will definitely help with the stability without giving a “gimbal” look

Please clear it, sony zv e10 does not support face/eye detection when your are shooting in 4k. I have seen a lot of zv e10 video, seems like no one have faced it. I have drop my zv e10 review yesterday with all the testing
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis3 жыл бұрын
yes - it supports face and eye autofocus in 4K in all modes. if you don’t see the box, go into to the menu and turn on the indicator. You have to read the rest of the sentence in the manual. you cannot use eye detect in 30p when ALSO connected by HDMI to an external monitor. But it works fine in camera. You were losing focus in your video because you were backlit - which is difficult for the camera, and you were wearing large sunglasses. When you put your hands in front of the camera, it was focusing on those because they were close to the lens and the largest thing in the frame, Also, it looks like you had product showcase mode on, which will lose face / eye detect and switch to your hands when you wave in them in front.

Hey Mark, I’m looking to build my little rig as well, but, how can I connect the powerextra battery to the camera ?
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis2 жыл бұрын

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis okay, but the usbc port from the camera but what do you connect it to ? The battery?
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis2 жыл бұрын
@@SachaBourlon you can connect it to an external usbc batttery bank, or the ZGCine I mentioned in the video with a Sony NP battery.

One more question! Have you had a look at the Olympus om d em10 mark 3! Found great offer on it 😂
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis2 жыл бұрын
my fav Olympus is the em1 mark ii because it has phase detect autofocus. the Em10 mark iii is a great camera, and awesome stability, but it’s autofocus won’t be as reliable as a Sony or Em1 mark ii or iii

Love this video! Could that rig work if I was shooting vertical? Or would things get in the way?
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Жыл бұрын
vertical would be fine in you put a baseplate on the cage's side handle

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks a lot! I was just wondering how to use this setup with no Zoom on the lens. I want to rebuild your setup, but I am afraid how to use it with no Zoom. Any advice highly appreciated
