How much do you work on your backswing?
@pbode1
@pbode1 Ай бұрын
A lot. But mostly on takeaway and P4 position (in my case: not getting too deep!), not consciously on maintaining good structure in the width. One of better recent ones Mark, thanks! I can feel a slow motion smartphone session coming up this weekend to check where I am on this :-)

Always work on the backswing as it feels easier to implement. Would be nice if you brought back lessons with students (I'll be your test student 😂)

Pretty much, from take-away to shaft first parallel. If the first part is done into the correct direction, the momentum will carry up and towards a proper top and transition.

Lot of am. players have the y-shape mirroring the proper one in a way, that the trail arm and clubshaft makes the straight line. I’ve got a student, who has 160º of ”release” from the top to impact and the front wrist brakes into severe extension, yet he’s not scooping the ball. This is something, I’m going to implement in his practice in the future.

Brilliant video. Just by chance this morning I was trying to steady my entire swing so I was pitching like this in the video. Adding the small y and wrist extension will be great to add in. I feel my right arm gets stuck in my current swing!

As a new golfer and just in the beginning of learning to play as I have recently just started to enjoy golf, this is such great advice. I have somewhat already swung this way, but these added extra tips are very handy 👌. It is difficult to get a very detailed video of good advice in golf! I appreciate your videos. I had to subscribe to keep on a lookout for more great advice 👏👏

This will be helpful to what I’m currently working on with my golf instructor. My issue -problem point is wrist angle on downswing to close the face @ impact. I think this drill will help me. For the Americans out there, translation for tummy button is belly button!

I can play decent golf though with very little power any more. I find these videos at least hilarious in my case because my right wrist has been completely surgically fused 3 times. Most things in the golf swing depend on "lead wrist" bending in a certain way lol. No can do but have learned to get around it somewhat. Cheers

I just listened to your Hack it Out podcast on Shaft Lean. In that you share that an average PGA pro with a mid iron has almost zero shaft lean at address (capital Y), but here you are promoting significant shaft lean (small y). Is this a contradiction or what am I missing?
@MarkCrossfield
@MarkCrossfield Ай бұрын
Great question. So we see ranges of up to 2/7 degrees lean at address from the “learners” on tour. The issue we she with am golfers is weak shots weak grips and weak use of loft. Making the y better than the Y for less skilled golfers. Remember to always take on to one to really find out what works for you as a golfer. Hope that helps. 👍

Would you agree the only feeling in the backswing with the wrists is to extend the trail wrist
@smithscott1700
@smithscott1700 Ай бұрын
Unfortunately when you constantly change between what's the right way to do things and the wrong way, you risk being confusing. It took real concentration to figure out. When the difference is so slight at the top of the backswing, between what you want us to do and what you imagine we are doing, then it's easy to get lost. Otherwise, excellent!

If you need 12 minutes to explain it, I’m afraid it isn’t a simple solution for a smoother swing. Nope, I”ll stick to stack and tilt. Much easier to deploy.

Umm... You don't do the "lower Y" @3:20 when you are showing the drill, you have a capital Y. Confusing.
