Great info!! Don’t sleep on Spunk Shad one of the best one out there. The 4.5” on Jackhammer and 3.5” on Minimax. The action is top notch, super durable. Great video guys!!!

The Spunk shad is , imo, the top dog in bladed jig trailers. The hunting action that it gives the jackhammer is deadly, you can work it high or low, fast or slow, see them rhymes MDJ😂

If you're fishing around wood, bite/cut the head off of the magic shad and rig it sideways. It being flat will allow the bait to come over wood without rolling and hanging up. The best chatterbait trailer that I've found on the entire market is the Nories lady balance. It hunts, it's flat enough on the bottom to not roll and has a nice tight action. The strike king blade minnow (or whatever it's called) is also one of the best trailers for getting a chatterbait hunt. Love Rate the Bait! Can y'all add in a jdm bait or so to the rate, or even do some jdm Rate the Baits?

After watching this video I bought some 3.5 in Magic Shads and took them to the lake. On the back of a mini max Chatterbait ane was impressed with how durable and supple they are. I mostly skipped them under docks and it caught a bunch of small bass without damaging the shad trailer. Thanks for the tip. I can't wait to use it on the river chasing smallies this fall.

The power stinger goes hard. Super durable, great color selection with some hyper realistic options, and a subtle action that allows the chatterbait to hunt.

All TPE plastics from Ned rig trd’s to trailers I take off the keepers , then they thread onto a jig or Chatter-bait real easy ! You just attach with super glue ! If you don’t thread it on straight the first time it comes off and back on REAL easy without a keeper . My Elastech plastics are on perfectly straight every time ! Try it ! It works

Zakos are $6.49 for a pack of 6 and Magic Shads are $6.79 for a pack of 4 theres some of that DC algebra lol. Love the rate the bait series, keep em comin.

Zoom shimmer shad and strike king blade minnow also are up there with the subtle trailers like the freeloader. Missile has a version of the spunk shad that hog farmer came up with and they have a few different colorways that hog farmer doesn't carry. and the best box to carry chatterbaits and jigs even spinner baits is the Plano edge jig/chatterbait box

Went and bought the razor shad for something new to try on my Evo and I had absolutely no problem threading it onto hook...seen some more killer colors in the freeloaders too damn that green peppermint and black I believe looked killer

I've been using about 50% Z-Man for a few years now and have little issue getting them on. Take your time. Line it up right and PULL the nose of the bait up and over the keepers, pinch the keeper into the elaztec and you're good to go. Tackle Warehouse has the new Chattershads in 3.5" right now if anyone is looking for a good minimax trailer.

Just want to add one more thing. The Zako definitely has some action. It’s subtle but there is action. So I’m surprised that you guys wouldn’t appreciate that more especially since a lot of you are always talking about subtle presentations on pressured lakes. If you want more action out of a Zako trim your chatterbait skirt back. No cap. On God.

Ehh I always say the Lake Fork Magic Shad is the best and yes the fishing industry and it’s baits are just continues knock offs but Give credit to the ones who did it first. I was gonna switch to the zako and I ordered a pack and it clearly wasn’t better the the magic Shad, so it’s MS or nothing besides a Zoom Z Craw sometimes.

Zako is my choice. I slay them on the zako. 4” on jackhammer 3” on mini max. Just a fish catcher. Durability does suck. Lucky to catch 3 on same trailer. That said I have no problem changing since they flat out catch fish. Clam shell would be a great addition.

JACOB: Make the pintail tip more durable!!! Little fish (and Pickerel) bight the tip off way too often. Otherwise, the Freeloader is the best trailer I have used. It literally increased my catch rate and I was already a pretty successful bladed jig guy. BTW, I have used all of the other trailers you guys reviewed as well as Spunk shad. Freeloader is by far the best.

I have only ever used 3 different chatterbait trailers. The zako, spunk shad and the Berkley power stinger. Actually 4. First trailer I ever used was a strike king swimming caffeine shad and that was really before chatterbait trailers became a thing. To me atleast. When I was first introduced to chatterbaits I was in Bass Pro Shops in Manteca, Ca. Another guy there said that he’s been killing it using a chatterbait and the lake fork magic shad as a trailer. That was something around 2015. I have still never used a magic shad. My go-to’s have been a Zako or the power stinger. I love the Zako. I guess it’s a confidence thing. I don’t have a huge problem with the durability of them. One evening fishing a local pond I caught over a 20lb bag of largemouth on a jack hammer and zako and went through a few zakos. But not an entire bag. Black and blue combo was killing it that evening.

Zman plastics are so frustrating to put on a hook. I can definitely relate to Dustin 😂 I fight with them all the time. Same as I do with the Ned BLT. But they work. Yamamoto Zako is my go to bladed jig trailer. They tear easy but they get bit.

The Zako does flat out get bit! Doesn't last long but they definitely work! They also do keep the bait up higher in the water. Idk where dc gets his Zako from but he's been getting got for a while! LOL! Freeloader is great for getting deeper, chatter spike by zman I like to keep it up higher and the Zako for shallow and not straight tail.

He gave him credit. The freeloader is clearly just a spun shad copy. I know I know I know it’s got flatter sides the tails a little different let’s be real. It’s a spunk shed. Once hog farmer and missile bates Collab hit they’ve got tons of killer colors. All that said chatter spike is the deal.

They definitely don't ruin my skirts. More trouble than it's worth. Haha No, I wouldn't say catching 20+ fish each bait is EVER more trouble than it's worth. Also not very expensive. I use the chatterspike trailers and keep them in their own spot on the chatter bait in the box and haven't had any issues.

Another bait alot of people don't talk about is Berkleys the deal minow in the skeets green money color. That thing flat out catches em and it's durable. You can rig it straight or if your around wood and heavy cover you can lay it flat and it'll still have amazing action. and alot of people don't throw it. I love the freeloader got every color except for the pros exclusive colors I wish I could get a hold of but man Jacob knocked it out the park with the crush city lineup I've caught em on damn near every one of those bauts

Man. No one talked about the Rage Tail Craw??? I use that thing on EVERYTHING including by itself on dropshot setup and catch walleye bass and pike. But i also only fish Mississippi River and no lakes (yet) so maybe craws are more Prominent in the river then lakes 🤷🤷

If you like a spunk shed or a freeloader, you should try a chatter spike. I can run one chatter spike dozens of Striper and she’s as good on the 50th Fish as she was on the first. At six bucks for a 5 pack last year’s.

Nah the honeycomb gill is closest to the issei gill flat. But the magic shad and derivative baits all stem from imakatsu javallon (I think…pretty sure they were before lake fork tackle)

Zman razor shad or BBB swim on for me. Tend to fish zman more because of durability. …. For Zman baits watch Brian latimers vids on how to rig elastic. For Texas rig just bury the hook in the elastic and for jigs once you figure it out, best trailers out there. I have a single zman GOAT that I’ve been using for two years now. It’s been on jigs, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, swimbait hooks, and Texas rigged. I have other bait companies for certain situations but day in and day out zman.

Great stuff gonna disagree with J-Dub the freeloader rips more than the Zako, I did catcha ton of fish with it on a chatterbait but can’t afford that 😂 not a strike king fan but don’t sleep on the blade minnow for a chatterbait. I’m with DC ain’t putting that Z-man stuff on , ain’t nobody got time for that😂🤣 Keep up the great work!!

These dude's must really hate Gary Y. 😅 1) The Zako lasts way longer than a few fish when rigged as a Chatterbait trailer. C'mon now! 2) Your hook isn't rusting quickly like Adrian is saying. Stop it. And they also be lying about the cost! A pack costs $7 on TW. Not $10 or $11 like y'all said. A whopping 50 cents more for a 6 pack than a 6 pack of Freeloaders. Annnnd, they knock it for not having much action. But then the very next bait they rate is the Freeloader, and they give that props for having a subtle action. SMH.
