The first woman is clearly suffering from pseudocyesis. It’s extremely difficult, and even faced with negative tests it’s almost impossible to accept it’s not really happening, as you are so convinced that it can cause actual physical symptoms of pregnancy. Thankfully I was able to stay rational about it and it didn’t go as far as the woman in this story has, but it easily can. She needs help

I remember there was a couple of women who went on Dr Phil saying that they were pregnant. One claimed something like 2 years! She was adamant it wasn't a "pseudo pregnancy" as it wasn't her body tricking her, she really was pregnant. She couldn't explain it but was very matter of fact that it was what it was. In fact beside that she came across quite balanced (iirc). Then there was another girl who was about 18ish & was convinced she was pregnant with Jesus. She ended up getting help & coming back, it was so good to see her better. As someone who was told I couldn't have kids (I have 2, naturally done no medical help) I get the feeling of desperately wanting a child, so I can see how you could end up there, esp with other stressors etc going on in life. I'm just glad she's doing better, how scary for them both!!

@@MrsGump yeah the women who are more likely to suffer with it are those who desperately want a child, or quite the opposite and have a bear fear of it. Although that Jesus girl I didn’t buy for a second. I think she was just out for attention

I’m really hoping that wifey avoids that cryptic pregnancy FB group like the plague. A lot of the members there sound like they’ve completely detached themselves from reality and are more than eager to drag other unsuspecting people down with them. And if wifey tries to tell them about her recovery, they’ll probably try to convince her that she’s been brainwashed by OP and the doctors and make her file abuse charges or something.

Of course they will - it's a conspiracy group.😔 When the internet became a thing some people decided to take their "X-Files" theories worldwide and unfortunately they've been reused and recycled for decades, long after the original post or Web page is gone. Compared to "Elvis is still alive and working in KFC", phantom pregnancies may not seem harmful but any theory can be when twisted by the wrong people.

Story 1 hits close to home for me. At the beginning of the pandemic my husband stopped sleeping properly and had a massive mental breakdown due to stress. He started talking crazy and it was so scary. We had 2 small children and our dog at that time and I packed them up and ran to his sister’s house 3 hours away because he was starting to get dangerous. He posted weird ramblings on Facebook and my mom actually reached out to me and asked what was going on with him and if he was okay. I ended up having to go to court and get him court ordered into a psychiatric facility. He was in there for 2 weeks and with the help of some meds was able to get back to sleeping normally and able to control his anxiety and stress. He was also not too thrilled with me and I was wondering if our relationship would survive but now he’s doing way better. When I tell him about some of the things that happened in his psychosis, he will be the first to admit I was right to send him there.

Honestly, I met someone that was pregnant, but the doctors told her she wasn't. They told her that she had a really bad hernia and needed surgery. She started having contractions, while I was in the waiting room. She told me all of her symptoms and I was like, "It sounds like you are pregnant and are in labor." Oh buddy were the doctors surprised when she gave birth to a full-term baby, a few hours later. Her boyfriend brought me McDonald's after I gave birth, just to thank me. Apparently me mentioning her being pregnant had mentally prepared them just enough to not freak them out too much when a super-cute baby popped out. 😆 So yes, Doctors can be wrong about a full-term pregnancy.

I remember my pregnancy. I didn't end up carrying to term, and because I have a bunch of weird health issues my hcg levels were wonky so it took longer than usual to get the positive test. Probably had a lot to do with why I lost it, too. Anyway, during that time of uncertainty of "my body is acting like I'm pregnant but the tests say I'm not", I did some googling and ran into a bunch of forums for trying to conceive moms as well as a few of those cryptic pregnancy groups. All of them seemed rather obsessive to me, but the cryptic pregnancy ladies made me feel sad. It was a weird place, and very much an echo chamber. That said, it kinda seemed like just a more intense, more desperate version of the regular "trying to conceive" groups to me. Had never encountered the like before.

Re woman who thinks she's pregnant: OP you're doing what you have to for the health and safety of your wife, who seems to have had a mental break down. You're a wonderful husband to do that and to stick with the marriage even though it's hit a rough patch. Please continue to take good care of your wife, but also remember to take good care of YOURSELF. Go get a massage or chill with some buds over football and brews to relax for a day or so, as soon as you can. You're going through something really traumatic, and you need to be clearheaded in order to be able to handle it sensibly. The only way you can do that is to take at least a few hours each week, for yourself to recharge by letting things go for a short while. Your wife will thank you for it later, when she realizes that you did it as much for her as for yourself and you can then set a good example for her, as you walk through life, together once this storm blows over. People who are telling you to leave your wife are the AH here, not you or your wife. Your wife didn't CHOOSE to become mentally/emotionally unstable. These things happen, and I can only hope that if it ever happens to me, that my husband will be kind and loving enough to get me the medical help that I need, as you've done for your wife. There's no shame in getting that kind of professional help and getting it for someone you love that really needs it is an HONORABLE AND LOVING thing to do. Kudos. Every woman should be so lucky as to find a husband like you. Re update: Was really pleased for you and the wife that she got back home to you and you're both mostly happy and well again and handling your mental/emotional health issues well. Best to both of you.

A few weeks later, the topic came up again. She said she kept having negative tests, so she went to the hospital for them to give her a test, and it came back negative. She told me it was because the nurse hated her and wanted her to suffer. She ended up not being pregnant, but once she got out of high school, she became the mother of a beautiful boy. Unfortunately, I can only see him through her Snapchat stories in between promotions for her OnlyFans. Sweet girl, quite histrionic. I kind of had the opposite. For a month with urine and blood tests, it kept coming back that I was pregnant, each day the blood test showed the HCG levels building as they should for a normal pregnancy. However, the ultrasound showed there was nothing in my uterus and I was bleeding because I had miscarried at the beginning of the month. I don't know if after a month I still came back positive for pregnancy because by then all my veins were blown and it was hard to get blood out of me so I stopped going to the doctor's office even though I bled for 3 months straight.

BUT not once did we ever give up on each other. Not once did I ever think about leaving (running away for a holiday maybe lol) I was engaged at 17 n married at 20 - very young? Yes. But I meant my vows & still do. Plus, the older he gets the hotter he gets & I now have myself a sexy, silver fox - wooooohoooo for me!! 🤤

This lady is very keen to have children. Perhaps pursuing the adoption option is a good idea. Btw, when food goes through the intestines, the muscle round the intestines moves the food through with a motion (peristalsis) that really does feel like a baby (babies) kicking, although there are no nerves in the intestines themselves. This may be what she is feeling. I have given birth six times. I know.

I worked with a girl who overshared and lied about a lot of things. I was pretty new to the job and didn't know her yet beyond a very weird introduction where she cornered me and trauma dumped on me (probably lies.) So oblivious me listened to her a few days later when she told me she was pregnant, congratulating her happily until I saw two co-workers behind her gesturing that she was full of it. She's a medical marvel because she ended up being "pregnant" for almost 20 months before she quit. In her case she was just a sloppy liar though. She never bothered with making her stories make sense. I think she just wanted to see who would buy it for her own amusement.

Wow, I suffer from infertility. I was depressed and crying a lot. I think the closet to that I ever came was when I would dream. Everyone the doctor, my friends, husband kept telling me I was pregnant. I n my dream I felt like the tests and ultrasound are wrong and I'm not. We ended up adopting 17 years ago. I still have that dream once in a while.

This is all so sad. Infertility can really eff with a person thanks to society constantly telling us that our soul purpose in life is to create a new generation. I hope all the women in that FB group get help too because unfortunately it seems not all of them have someone as wonderful as OP in their lives. He's the dream partner. I wish them the best of luck in therapy, their marriage, and a future with or without kids.

I’ve actually cracked up in public when I hear it happen and not been able to explain that I literally have an inside joke with myself. It's *called* pseudocyesis. That's the medical term. There's no such thing as a 'hysterical pregnancy' per medical definition. Calling it a 'hysterical pregnancy' only lends not only misinterpretation of the actual symptoms, it also continues a very terrible, mysogonistic projection from a millennia ago that every legitimate medical condition a woman has is directly related to her uterus. This is important, because even in 2022, you can turn up at an ER having a stroke, and there's an ungodly high chance that the attending physician is going to blame it on your damn period. Words are important. Please use them correctly, because women have literally died because of this out dated and often flat out incorrect language.

It disgusts me that other men out there do this and give us decent guys who care about our partners well being.

I feel for OP, but he has some nerve to slam the commenters "calling her crazy" when he himself, after seeing stories of women on the cryptic pregnancy forum, called them "f*cking insane". Guess what, buddy? Your wife is one of them. Those women you so callously called insane, are someone else's wives, daughters, etc. The hypocrisy. Especially since he drones on about how he'll stick by her because she's sick, but has no empathy for the women who's partners didn't.
@SnowyWolborg
@SnowyWolborg 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. OP needs to drop the sanctimony. It's transparent AF. He cannot accuse people of being unempathetic when his own comments show him to be the same. Just because he's a loyal husband doesn't mean he's not a total poser. Both he and his wife are delusional, but for different reasons. It's understandable if he only has time and energy for his wife's condition. But don't act like she's different from the Facebook women, because she isn't.

I only take issue with one thing in the story. OP is a colossal hypocrite, but trying to act like the good guy. He accuses people of being unempathetic, but is guilty of the same thing. The women in the Facebook groups are "insane" by his own words, but his wife is "sick." He can't judge them differently when they are acting the exact same way. He and his wife are both delusional, but for different reasons. Just stand by your wife and drop the sanctimonious judgments.

Seriously we need to stop telling girls they can have the full career...and have kids after. Too many women wait too long to have kids.. After age 35 the likelihood of birth issues raises so high... This woman obviously wanted a family..and for some reason didn't realize she needed to do that earlier in life. =/ So sick of this...they even talk about 40 year olds having kids..but that is SO RARE!

What the hell? You know some women have mechanical issues becoming pregnant, right? Or are you one of those delusional redpillers that think women just get pregnant on demand? Pregnancy is an extremely complex process that is also very dangerous. Many, many things can go wrong, and often times the body is like "screw this, evict it. It's not working." Over 30% of pregnancies terminate in a natural abortion. It's very likely they tried and failed to have kids- most women who want children don't wait. We aren't friggen stupid. EVERYONE knows there's a time crunch. But thanks for adding your worthless two cents lol, I'm sure it was super enlightening to precisely no one. We never EVER hear we can afford to wait. Literally EVERYONE tells us to start working on kids immediately after marriage. You are so delusional.

Unfortunately they will never be qualified to adopt a child with a forced psychward stay on their records. Extreme health issues whether physical or mental disqualify couple's from adoption agencies because they want "capable and safe" people for the children.

It’s no longer as rare as you would like to believe, thanks to fertility clinics. People no longer die in their 60’s and of grandparents can raise their grandkids, who are we to judge if a woman has a kid in her 30’s or beyond? It’s not a big deal. Plenty of younger women have kids with birth defects, or die young due to tragedy. Nothing is guaranteed.

We worked so hard to stop teen pregnancies. That now we are preventing women from having kids in the 20s..when they should biologically. We have shamed women who have kids during college..but by the time that is done..they are in a "critical career time," and they keep putting it off! It is actually a disaster for women..and for our country! We are not even at replacement levels of population! Which can cause our civilization to fail =/

Children aren’t fucking goldfish that you can just pop out when you feel like it. People these days cannot afford kids in their 20s, so they do the responsible adult thing and wait until they’re secure enough to bring an entire new being into the world

@ღ𝕄𝕖𝕥𝕫𝕥𝕝𝕚ღ you haven't seen the dirty looks and snide comments women get for having a kid in college, or early on in her career? It is a huge problem...can even effect their future career because of negative reactions by people. There is a reason so many people hold off on having kids...besides purely financial ones. My entire high school had a huge fear against teen pregnancy...The whole class was pushed onto birth control for one reason or another. It was weird. They just ignored any potential hormonal side effects...and wanted to keep teen or young adult pregnancies down
@claudeyaz
@claudeyaz 2 жыл бұрын
@ღ𝕄𝕖𝕥𝕫𝕥𝕝𝕚ღ plus, after age 35..the likelihood of birth effects increases exponentially...and average IQ levels drop etc. Women can work and have kids.. but it is hard..yet there is a large social push to just sleep putting it off.

Lol, give me a break, who’s stopping women from having kids in their 20’s, and you honestly think teenagers aren’t still having kids? You’re as delusional as the phantom pregnancy woman. I’m focusing on my career. I don’t want kids. Don’t like them, and it’s too expensive to raise them, and I sure as hell don’t owe you a kid. If you want them, you have them. I don’t care if it’s “a disaster for this country” and I’m not having a kid so it can go hungry during a mass formula shortage. It’s not a disaster for us because it’s our lives and we make choices for us, not you.
