Such an important topic. We have the moral momentum to end animal farming, but we need to couple that with technological solutions.

Very good speech, this speech let me know that a lot of food is being wasted all over the world, and food waste leads to environmental pollution and a lot of greenhouse gas emissions. It destroys the great efforts people make to protect the environment. So we need to save food, and I believe that market forces and food technology will save the world.

I loved the talk, society needs a ton more like this. Nice job! My only wish is that when we talk about agricultural practices climate change, waste, pollution, carbon footprint, water use, etc come to light, but the inherent cruelty of this business and food choices is somehow shoved under the rug. It would be nice to slip that in there somehow. I became vegetarian 19 years ago and vegan 3 years ago due to my love for animals. Carbon footprint is an added bonus, but not my driver.

The presentation is excellent, and it informs me that there is a lot of food waste globally, which has a significant negative influence on environmental harm and greenhouse gas emissions. Food must thus be saved. And many individuals have started researching environmental protection. The future of the globe, in my opinion, will only get better.

One of the best TED Talks I've seen- phenomenal layout! Yet as great as it is, it's a shame the view count is so low- and I fear the viewers are almost entirely individuals already knowledgeable of this movement. With how brilliantly this message is conveyed, I can only imagine the impact this Talk would have if viewed on a larger scale. Going forward, I'm looking forward to the catalysts that will prompt this change (be it effective marketing or celebrity influence), and hoping that we don't have to wait until producers gain significant market share years down the road to spark this much needed change.

LIEW KAI KIAT_SEU224 A very nice sharing. The traditional way of animal agriculture will bring up pollution to the environment. However, followed by technology advanced, food technology also can fulfill the three factors that dictate consumer choice which are taste, price, and convenience. For example, chicken meat and plant-based meat. Chicken meat needs to spend more time for production and growth but plant-based meat is higher nutrition. Hence, food technology will be more important and effective in the food industry in the future.
@chungszesze34502 жыл бұрын
CHUNG SZE SZE_SEU224 In my opinion, the main point of this talk is that plant-based meat and clean meat is the new food technology to avoid the occurrence of pollution, soil desertification, species loss, and also climate change caused by the inefficiencies of animals agriculture. However, every country has a different way to solve the problem that the inefficiencies of animals cause. For example, China solves the problem by encouraging its citizens to eat less meat. But, today, after 4 years, the new food technology is still not spread widely all around the world. However, I believe in one day the goals will be achieved. Last, I hope this talk can be followed by more people.

When he said we can't afford to leave this to the private sector, I almost vomited. I had to stop watching. Who in the world thinks food would be better with politics added? Most people in this country don't allow it to even be discussed at the dinner table.Adding politics to food is a TERRIBLE idea. The private sector, on the other hand, is totally at the mercy and control of consumers--which is where they should be, especially if the issue is food. Further, if all the tax money the government spent on agriculture subsidies and studies were left in the pockets of taxpayers, there would be no one starving in this country.Government has no idea what health is, or how to provide or obtain it. They put toxic amounts of grain at the bottom of the Food Pyramid. Some people can eat dairy and some can't. I do not ever want politics in charge of my food or spending my money to win votes.
@markjordan43315 жыл бұрын
IMissLiberty That’s definitely fair, though with how involved the government already is, resetting the current priorities could be good. If the money from meat and dairy subsidies was moved over to research institutions and the FDA lost its grip with the animal agriculture industry then we could have more reasonable intervention. As of right now it feels more like the government is interested in me getting sick to rack up some medical bills to pay to major political donors. Having said that, any reform that would come before a change in public opinion is incredibly unlikely.

SONIL WIJAYA SANGAR _SEU224 Food technology, I believe, will condemn factory farming to the dustbin of history in my lifetime. These are the options for preventing the extinction of the earth, humanity, and all other animal species. Without a question, the noblest purpose for the twenty-first century is to use exponential technology to propel the marketplace forward. We have the moral impetus to put a stop to animal husbandry, but we need technological solutions to go with it. Inspiring crucial food production and marketing advances. This is the most efficient strategy to save the lives of more animals from the cruel industrial farming industry. If we are to survive as a civilization, a food revolution is required. Hence, changes must happen in the way we live and eat to end the extinction of innocent animals.

LEE CHAI NYUK_SEU224 Animal agricultural inefficiencies are one of the leading drivers of everything from water pollution to soil desertification to species extinction and climate change. Climate change is attributed more to the global meat industry than to all modes of transportation combined. As a result, food technology is critical in resolving this issue. If we are to live as a civilization, food innovation that competes with industrial animal agriculture is the best approach to save the world and all the animal species. Changes in the way we live and consume are required. This is a fascinating discussion. I love this talk.

YOGATHAARANIA_SEU224 I firmly think that within my lifetime, food technology will consign industrial farming to the annals of history. These are the ways to save the planet, people, and all other animal species from extinction. Without a doubt, using exponential technology to advance the market is the greatest goal for the twenty-first century. Although we have the moral imperative to end animal agriculture, we also need technical alternatives. fostering critical advancements in food marketing and production. The most effective way to protect more animals from the brutal industrial farming business is through this tactic. A food revolution is necessary if civilisation is to survive.

LIM LI FONG_SEU224 Great and nice talk!! Animal agriculture contributes more to global climate change than the whole transportation industry combined. Traditional animal agriculture had caused the pollution to the environment. Therefore, without a doubt, using technology to move the marketplace ahead is the finest aim for the twenty-first century and it's time we have the moral obligation to end the traditional agricultural practices. Through the food technology, plant-based meat had been manufactured with the stated mission of combating climate change and substituted the clean meat. Thus, food technology very important in food safety and ensure the environment is not polluted.

MUHAMAD HAFIZ BIN ZAINUDEEN_SEU224 I just take in point that the meat industry through factory farming caused pollution on water, soils, extinction of plants and animals, and exploitation of natural resources and the change in climate. The food technology led factory farming to the history. A plant-based meat alternative, this invention reduces green house effect. The food is also contain more protein to create a better food and substituted the clean meat. Therefore, food technology not only responsible for the quality of foods but also environmental aspect.
@Jimmis_93 Жыл бұрын
The problem with every challenge mentioned (eg CO2 emissions etc) is not the size of the population, but the overconsumption, comersialization, not efficient food chains (since even food product are a previledge of people who can afford to spend money) etc. All of them are a result of the current system being predominant globally and this is capitalism. We need to transform the societies to non-capitalistic economies, otherwises within the next decades new problems will raise and again the elit will find another solution, because the previous wasn't that ideal. So, every "smart" solution they come up with doesn't seem sustainable.
@limliyen82222 жыл бұрын
LIM LI YEN_SEU224 Amazing! I realized that the meat industry through factory farming caused pollution on water, soils, extinction of plants and animals, and exploitation of natural resources, as well as a significant change on climate. However, food technology led factory farming to the history. A plant-based meat alternative, Beyond Meat invented with less greenhouse gas emissions without any pollution. This is efficiency that food technology allowed it became more protein to create a better food and substituted the clean meat. Therefore, food technology not only responsible for the quality of foods but also environmental aspect.

TRIXIE B.LAW_SEU224 Amazing presentation! food waste is indeed very harmful to our environments but i am surprised by the fact that inefficient in animal agriculture could also be the top causes to climate changes! This changes how i view the world now. in my opinion, China's effort to educate their citizens about the climate impact of the meat industry hoping for the citizens to cut down on meat consumption might not be a great choice. because China has a population of 1,450,114,480 (2022) and its gonna be a hard journey and it would take a long period of time to make at least half of the population to stop meat consumption. the entrepreneurs idea to invent plant-based meat and clean meat might just be the best idea to achive that objective. this is because it is hard for consumers to suddenly stop consuming meat all together. hence, plant-based meat can help consumers to change to a vegetarian diet step-by-step. food technology could indeed save our world! Thank you for the detailed talk about market forces and food technology.

MATHBRENDA CELINE ANAK BUGI_SEU224 Such a nice and great talk! As far I know, food waste is indeed can cause negative impact to our environment, but I don't know that inefficiencies of animal agriculture can cause negative impact to our environment too! According to United Nation, global meat industry can cause the climate change. I'm quite surprised about this statement as I'm lack of knowledge about the climate change issues...😅😅Meat has found can cause 40 times as much climate change per calorie of protein when compared to eating legumes. So, to overcome this climate impact of meat industry, one of the proposed step is government of the world should educate their citizens about the climate impact of meat industry and encourage them to eat less meat. It's seem impossible to achieve this goals at first. But, the food innovation that is done by some entrepreneurs, which is plant-based meat and clean meat can be the best idea in achieving that goals. Plant-based meat and clean meat is viewed as the best solutions to some of the world's biggest problem. So, in conclusion, it is clear that food technology and food innovation can save our world. Thank you for the informative talk!
