I don't think I've ever seen or heard a better summation of the essence of the spirit behind the efforts of all the participants of Market Garden than Christopher's father's statement "They captured the "bank holiday spirit" of that advance." God bless all of the brave British, Polish and Dutch soldiers and civilians who tried their best to make it succeed. I also have a better understanding of the British sense of humor in adversity. It really helps me realize that such a people cannot be defeated easily. Thanks for an informative and moving story by Christopher Jary.

This was one of the most well put together, presentations I have heard in a along time. From when it started to the end, Christopher had my full attention. The stories of the men involved was marvellously told in such detail. Bring Christopher back again, many thanks to you both

I was just a Captain in the LI 1988 to 1993 and i used to meet the veterans from the DLI and its bloody sad that such a lot of proud regiments were disbanded Its Ironic in 2024 they now form the Rifles So much has been forgotten about the old proud regiments I salute them all what a generation they were Swift and Bold

I have two Dorset badges, one is from 14/18 that was my mother's father's badge, he gave it to my father as it was easier? to shine for parade, the other is my father's, he served in the early 1950's and was sent to Hong Kong

yes but horrocks stuffed up the initial taking of antwerp-the 11th armoured didnt close the gap north of town and they didnt stop the ferries evacuating some of the 15th army across the Scheldt. If they had of, they would have realised the significance of taking the scheldt river delta. He lost focus because of victory charge-some say because he hadnt recovered from his wounds and he should have been rested
