These videos are informative, educating, and just so soothing as I watch them before going to sleep. Just slicing away at the days stress and headaches leaving a beautiful fresh piece of lumber.

Great video. It brought back a lot of memories! Back in the 70's I worked in a mill in western Massachusetts that had been powered by water and a turbine. When the mil pond silted up it was re-powered with the engine from a D-4 Cat. One day the sawyer came into work after having had the flu. He went down into the cellar of the mill and started the gas pony motor in preparation of firing up the diesel. Being that it was a cold morning the diesel was hard to start so Bernie, the sawyer, had to keep the pony motor running. Unfortunately, while the diesel was exhausted outside, the pony motor wasn't. The carbon monoxide built up in the cellar and poor Bernie was overcome by the fumes. He was a tough and gruff appearing but he was a wonderful guy to work with. He was one of those guys who taught me a lot. I'll never forget him. The mill shut down after he passed away.

However, lately there haven't been any subtitles for some reason. They really do make it easier to 'hear' what you are saying. Too much background noise at times.

Hi from cyprus. Can you mount another camera on the end of the carriage So we can see the saw going through the logs from above ?. How cool it would be to change the view from the cab to carriage during the sawing. Just a thought . Thanks.
@nspro9312 жыл бұрын
Mr. McCoy would set taper by pushing that log out a little, running the other end up to the log turner, and shoving that end in a little leaving the front end out as much as he wanted. The he set the dogs and start sawing. He did it quite often.

Are the 1x1 and 1x3 where the are 1 inch by 1 inch or 1/4 inch off on each side or some other dimension. It gets confusing.
@garymurt91122 жыл бұрын
The only advantage of using a table saw to cut the 1x1s would be you would gain a 1x1 every so many cuts if your boards are wide enough and you would need to have your table saw set up with power feed. In reality to get the most productive set up would be a resaw setup, but they ain't cheap and you would need lots more sales to justify

I was wondering if the measurement wheel allows for the thickness of the saw blade Great video.
@brucefallon71562 жыл бұрын
Wheel measures the size exact size Marc has to figure the 1/4 saw kerf and add that to what he wants when making multiple boards. He needs 6 1/2 to make 3 2 inch boards taking in to account 2 1/4 inch saw kerfs.
