one of my go to plants, love it. works great in outside koi ponds, I keep it in almost all my tanks(just floating). I had it survive being in a dark closet all winter(outside porch pond brought in for the winter). it's cheap, easy to find, tolerates a lot of different variables and feeds from the water column so good for helping keep the water changes down

I just picked some up today as of typing this. This was literally the first video I saw on the web as I searched for information on this plant.

by far my fav plant! all my fish pick at it and my baby fry love it as well. java moss and anacharis is my top 2 ! they grow fast and if its long? you can cut them and propagate 1 long stem to 3 shorties. I've bought 10 bundles and have them in every single tank. My fish eat all the dying leaves and are constantly feeding themselves from it.

The last person said do not plant them cause they will rot. So good to know I CAN plant them cause I did before watching info about them on KZbin

I have a 75-gallon aquarium or 350 litres with 4 fancy goldfish in. I upgraded my original Juwel LED tubes to the Fluval Aquasky units. I recently bought some elodea and put them in glass pots with a little gravel and mixed pebbles on top. I have found with the Aquasky LED units the elodea is thriving! To avoid excessive algae, I have my lights ramp up at 12PM my Daylight settings are 80% green, 80% red, 20% blue and 90% white. Sunset is set for 18.00 until 20.00 and ramps down to Night at just 10% blue light and Sleep switches the lights off at 22.00 until the next day. It has been a bit of trial and error 'cause I am trying to give the plants enough light and control the algae. It seems the elodea love it! I haven't had much luck with Java Fern but I don't want to put bog wood in for it to root to because it stains the water. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I enjoyed the video by the way. 😊

What is your monthly power bill? Serious question. I would love to have a set up like yours.

It's doing ok in my axolotl tank now, but I have killed a bunch of it before in other tanks. I'm going to try some outside in my ponds.

I am a huge fan. Any time I have a question and I see you have a video on the subject, I go straight to your video. But as a constuction worker, I wonder what kind of subfloor you are working with. My fishroom is a built in carport so my aquariums are on concrete. If I had multiple tanks like you, I would worry about the beams in my floor failing. Do you have supports under your flooring? Sorry, its just how my brain works.

What’s going on with that bottle at the 3:49 mark? Is it decor or something functional? Maybe both?

Wow! awesome room! I did have a question on when to "give up" on an anacharis plant...I (clearly a newbie at this) got my plant and it "died" within a week...I realized my biggest mistake, which you mentioned in the video, was the type of lighting I had, so I wanted to know if these "dead" plants will come back after I balance my tank with better lighting or should I just start over again and get new anacharis plants? thanks for the info!!
@Gk226322 жыл бұрын
Did the anacharis become healthy again? They tend to just survive anything in my tank

@@Gk22632 I don't see how this plant grows in substrate when everyone I've talked to says it can't grow planted how does that work ?
@Gk22632 Жыл бұрын
@@raisinggoldfishonabudget7058 I have tons and tons of anacharis and in my experience the plant has very long straight roots that eventually just find their way into the substrate on its own
@NathanMUFCfan11 ай бұрын
@@raisinggoldfishonabudget7058 I struggled to get it to grow in the substrate. As soon as I just let it float on the surface, it grew like crazy. Been growing it for 3 years and have to trim it pretty often. I would never root it again.
@DJKuroh10 ай бұрын
@NathanMUFCfan What substrate do you use? I threw mine in some Fluval Stratum in my nano tank and it grows like crazy planted.

I just bought my very first 10 gallon thank this past Monday and bought a newer filtration system then the one it came with. I put some Anubias and Java ferns in them and want to put anacharis in them for my betta. Still gonna wait till the end of the week until I introduce my fish to his new home until water is good for him to go in. I purchased a non-toxic super glue from petco to attach it to my decorations. Do you know if the anacharis plant can be glued on while still sustaining its life force?
@NEnigma7776 ай бұрын
I don’t recommend gluing it. I have a lot of bettas and they for some reason destroy the anacharis so I stopped buying it
@sammyc8632 Жыл бұрын
Hey awsome info, I had purchased a bundle of anacharis and put them on my tank and they all died on me they actually disintegrate into the water it was so weird
@normalsnek32822 жыл бұрын
Mine died and had good lights 😔 I told some people and they said to float it and not root it
