Been on the verge of buying this guitar and you did one of the best demos I’ve seen (and I’ve watched a lot). You got some great sounds with great playing. Thanks that helped 🙏 👍

I recently bought an identical one like this, after many gigs, I have to say that it is fantastic! I have a total of 7 Yamaha guitars...and they are all great. Definitely the best price-quality ratio. It's so versatile and comfortable to play. I play in a cover band and it covers all musical genres with ease. I found that the focus switch is useful for Hi Gain tones and in that case it approaches the sound of a humbucker pickups. I am very happy with the guitar. I have never been let down by a Yamaha guitar. Your video and review of this guitar is excellent! It can certainly compete with much more expensive and well-known ones. Greetings.

@@manikokg thank you sooo much for your story and kind words. I wonder how much different the Chris Buck Model feels and sounds?
@manikokg23 күн бұрын
@@markhopkinsmusic Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to compare them...I don't own the Chris Buck model. I know his model has a three position switch. Of course it's made in Japan and is more expensive, but generally there isn't much of a difference in terms of tone or feel. John Nathan Cordy has a great video on the differences between the Standard and Pro models. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aoGtXqh9pMebm9k

You did a great job showing what this guitar can do i could hear a bit of joe perry in your influence if i didn't already have this guitar you would have had me run to get one.. i gotta tell ya i also started out looking at a gib LP.JR but i have owned a vintage jr many years ago and it was very much just one side of a LP but the revstare gives you so much more i did change out the the tuneirs and i bought it a case any way you sounded great Yamaha should have paid you i know this vid must have sold a ton of guitars for them..

oh ps, i played the $2500 dollar one and i really could barely tell the difference, at one point i had the middle $800 one in my hand but i thought it was the other one wich was on a stand next to me. i really don't understand what went on with that. Same pickups and every thing. i think the fretboard might have had a larger nut that's about it.

Thanks so much for the kind words that means a lot! Out of curiosity what tuners did you swap in to this guitar? I am thinking about doing that but I like the vintage style looking tuners that came on the guitar.

Debating on selling my aerodyne tele for one any thoughts I think I’ve found I’m not a tele guy and prefer p90s
@markhopkinsmusic13 күн бұрын
This guitar was my gateway drug into P90s and I am scheming to get another P90 loaded guitar already. I'd say go for it - but play one (if you can) before selling your Tele - just to be sure you like the neck. I think it plays like butter and you won't regret it, but everyone is different :-)

Hi I’m getting a new guitar in January and like you it’s between this and a Gibson sg special. Did you get to try them both and if so does this sound as good as the Gibson? I’m having a hard time deciding which to get.
@markhopkinsmusic2 ай бұрын
@@matt926uk1 thanks for watching! You I’ve played both and the Revstar holds its own against the LP. It plays like butter and the P90s are killer! I’d also say it’s kinda nice to play something on stage left of center. I love it! I currently put it in Open E to use as my slide guitar.
@matt926uk12 ай бұрын
@ yeah, I’d like to play something that not everyone is using too but the sound is my biggest priority. It’s hard to judge them trying them out in a guitar shop through a loud amp on the floor which I’ve done. I kind of felt the Gibson sounded better but that might just be in my mind. I preferred almost everything else about the Yamaha. Comparing the sound of things is so difficult, I hate it lol. Thanks for your reply.

What was wrong with the guitar?
@rickgibson3244 ай бұрын
Hi, these are actually the mid level models. Theres an entry level, a standard (the one you have) and a pro-level. I'm surprised you didn't demo the 2 and 4 positions as this is a 5 position switch like a Strat, even though there's only 2 pickups, it does an out of phase quack in those...

I have the Element version and even though it's a good guitar, I'm considering selling it. Why? The color is ATROCIOUS. I have the swift blue version and I'm starting to hate even opening the case to have it stare back at me. Lately I've been calling it "Papa Smurf" because it's so dang blue. I'm sure everyone has had that guitar that they've said "Yeah, it's great so I'll just have to get used to the color". You really never do.
@markhopkinsmusic3 ай бұрын
@@RobotShlomo you just made me laugh out loud for real. I get it, 100%! You gotta love how it feels, plays and sounds but if it’s not something you’d hang on your wall to display for the world I’d trade up for something new too. I’ll be honest, I love this guitar too, but have been thinking about upgrading to a Les Paul Special or a Frank Bros. with P90s.
