Today's episode is a very special one for many reasons: We completed the longest travel journey of our lives, rode in our first helicopter, saw the Great Barrier Reef from the sky, and we finally marked "Scuba Dive the Great Barrier Reef" off of our bucket list!
Thank you PADI and Queensland Tourism Board for making this dream a reality!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this KZbin channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Fantastic video. As I was watching the helicopter ride out to the barrier reef I immediately recognized Heron Island. I have been there twice. 1988 and again in 2003. Both times for 5 nights. It is absolutely magical. One of my favorite places on the planet(even though I was bombed several times by the knotty terns.) Lots of incredible diving and did a bit of laying on the small beaches in the white coral sand. Can't wait to go back some day. Keep up the brilliant work.

I am so happy for you that you got to see it!! Absolutely the single most miraculous thing to ever exist in nature. I hope to one day to get to experience it. It makes me SO SAD to know that so much of the Great Barrier Reef is dying, and that it's regeneration levels are so low and taking much longer than ever before for new baby reefs to form. I pray that some way can be found to save it.❤️❤️❤️

Hi Kara & Nate. I’m so pleased you’ve finally been able to dive in our beautiful Great Barrier Reef. I hope you are travelling to Cairns. The Daintree rainforest is around 2 hours drive north of Cairns, where I live. It is a beautiful tropical city, with lots of restaurants & cafes. It is worth visiting & going on a crocodile spotting boat ride on the Daintree river. There are over 300 crocs in the river. Happy travelling in Far North Queensland.🌴🐊🇦🇺🦋🐠

Oh my goodness!!! This was just stunning you guys!!! 😍 I too am PADI certified and would absolutely LOVE to go diving in the Great Barrier Reef! God willing it will happen one day soon 😊 I’m so glad you guys got to check this off your bucket list 💃🏻🕺🏻 Kara and Nate, you guys are amazing and I’m glad all your hard work is paying off and you are getting to have these opportunities that you’ve so patiently hoped and waited for 🤗 Hugs from across the World 🤗 Esther 🤗 P. S. Just wondering if you guys could do a video with your bucket list around the Globe and the number of things that you’ve since checked off (and the ones that you didn’t realise would make it to the list at the beginning)! 😄 It would be amazing, and if you feel this may be a really long video, then let me tell you, I don’t think any of us will be complaining 😁 I would love to see longer vlogs ☺️ (I know the time and effort that goes into videoing and editing these videos, and I truly appreciate all that you both do ☺️)

I went to Heron Island when I was little! Such a gorgeous place, dying to go back! Be glad you got the helicopter, the boat was awful.

The sea turtle reminded me of "Crush"--Nemo's friend. I got to visit the Great Barrier Reef, also out of Cairns, back in '87, during my 4-month tour of the Pacific, and the month in Australia. But, I was in a youth hostel in town, and went snorkeling--definitely a backpacker budget. Beautiful dive footage!
