1.Good Diet 2.Daily mental/physical stimulation 3. Rigorous exercise or Prey drive activities a few times a week 4. Love & Affection. That’s What a Ridgeback needs to thrive! I have 6, an 11 yr old senior that can still run 10-15miles and hop over 8 foot fences. The👑of Rhodesia

exactly, I agree with you completely. The only ones winning in the insurance business is, is the insurance companies themselves. Certainly not the people paying for the insurance.

Thank you for your advice. I am convinced that getting an emergency fund is better for me and my Ridgeback mix than paying an insurance company. Have a beautiful weekend.

Rocking a 100 pound dog. I stop picking my Ridgeback up to weigh her for the last time when she reached 35kg

Just like Graham M, just happy to see you back over here (also no Insta). Within a month we will welcome a Rhodesian Ridgeback pup to our family and most of the information came from your channel. So, thank you, thank you very much! Very helpful and so nice to watch. Warm regards Bettina (from the Netherlands)

Your best video so far. Prevention is better than cure. I've always thought saving money is better than paying insurance companies. While I was walking my girls one older lady was extolling to me the virtues of getting high end pet insurance, and she had a massive pack of about 12 healthy looking dogs (husband must've had a very good job to afford that in retirement) kerching!

Completely agree! And if her husband wants to pay for my guys pet insurance I'd be all for it too

It has been so long, thankyou for coming back with another wholesome video. With this question, it is always about us not being willing to give up something we love. Even though our dogs are part of our family, they have a shorter life span and sometimes paying out huge bills for surgeries to maybe get a few more months with them is just not worth it. My Ridgeback/American Staffy cross has just turned 6, and with a lot of luck she might be in my life for up to 6 more years.

I enjoy your videos very much. I don’t own a dog but enjoy them vicariously through a fellow worker with 2 ridgebacks. As all Rback owners I’ve known he is passionate about the breed and his canine family members. This video especially is very important with the point of view you provide. I will pass it on to him. Keep the fantastic work going. The wait is long, can you do two a month? Good luck….

Thanks for this. We are having these discussions now because we just had a tumour removed from our boy and the insurance gave us nonsense. Finally they have paid out but I had to fight.

Been following you for years but never commented before and great to see you back on the tube after so long ( sorry don’t do instagram). As soon as your video ended the next advert was from Agria pet insurance 🤔. Hope you all stay well 🇬🇧

Really timely post for me actually, I finally got sick of paying the exorbitant premiums for my girl's insurance through Petplan / Fetch and cancelled it. In the three years we had it, it went from $40/mo to almost $80/mo, and we never used it! The kicker - they promised a yearly refund?rebate? if it wasn't used, and when I called to ask about it, they said what I was paying *already includes it!* O.O

Unfortunately this is a common story. People pay into insurance during their dog's healthiest years, realize they're not getting anything out of it, insurance company walks away with the money. Much better to pay yourself that premium into a savings account!

@@MarkingOurTerritory You are so right. Our previous dog was a GSD and we didn't have pet insurance when she got spinal stenosis; the x-rays and pain meds got expensive and after she eventually passed we told ourselves that "next time" we'd make sure to have insurance. Luckily our Rhodesian / Lab mix Rosie hasn't come down with anything serious (crossed fingers) but I definitely wish I'd have just put that money in an account!!

Would you kindly tell me where you got your dogs from? I'm having a hard time finding a good breeder online. Thanks!

Honestly, I hate insurance companies. I truly believe that it drives up the cost of healthcare and now it's doing the same for our pets. I agree, pay yourself and use that if needed.
