Excellent info. I just bought a used Biasi boiler and now am cleaning up prior to installation. Seems extremely well engineered. Thanks for the walk through. VERY useful.

2 heating seasons later on the used Biasi. Before the first season I got a new Aquastat and temp sensor. I also replaced the mat in the bottom of the firing chamber. I had a tech come and check all my work and the boiler has worked perfectly. Total cost was $300 for the boiler, $175 for Aquastat and temp sensor, and $20 for the mat. I bet it lasts another 20 years. Anyway, today I will give it a new nozzle, change the filter, and clean everything.

How do I release the pressure in the boiler to clean it ? Do I have to drain the heat zones ?

Have a B10-5 , I cut lengths of old garden hose and duct tape it to shop vac hose and suck out the soot when brushing the internal passages. Also remove flue pipe to vacuum the exhaust outlet port and bottom of chimney. These are easy boilers to clean

Thank you very much! Mine was packed with soot! I removed at least a gallon of powder from my B-4, which I installed years ago and never cleaned (always thinking I "just" installed it). Nozzle and filter changes at least every year due to an old oil tank.

I typically shut the oil off at the burner and take apart the special silver colored compression nut

On the heating unit that you’re working on is there an air filter as well I have the same unit and can’t find one

I am thinking about having the Oil Fired Biasi B10-7 installed with a Heat Flo HF-60 Stainless Steel 60 Gallon tank. Where can I get some honest reviews on the boiler. I read some love it to hate it reviews. I don't want to make a mistake going with this one recommend by the company that services my existing 25 year old boiler.

boilers are just cast iron with water inside. Bad reviews are just home owners with shitty servicemen not knowing how to set up the boiler to burn correctly. You need a combustion analyzer to set these to run right. You also need a oil tank that isnt 20 years old thats been neglected and is full of sludge. A chimney with a liner or aleast proper size to no over draft. The boilers are fine. Biasi, Buderus and viessmen are the best out there. But People that are knowledgeable about them in the US are few and far

Hi Mark great video! In the combustion chamber is there supposed to be a liner? I have a B10 that was just serviced by an HVAC company and they told my my chamber liner was burned away and I need a new boiler !? My unit is 12 years old and I have no issues I find it hard to believe I need to replace it. I know on the other types of boilers there is blanket type material that burns away and should be replaced periodically but I'm unsure if the Biasi uses this.

@@nogripes Thanks for the update Mark. I spoke with the North American distributor QHT www.qhtinc.com/ and they said the B10 has no liner other than the blanket that sits in the bottom of the chamber. That blanket is there to absorb any stray oil that might be sprayed if the nozzle gets dirty or clogged, rather than hit the chamber floor burn off and cause excess smoke/soot. I cleaned mine up and it looks great thanks to your video.
