I have this exact one. It's a beautiful retro 1960s design. The power and tuning is great. It just needs a front and rear suspension to absorb the vibrations.

suspension adds weight, if you have to say, carry it through metros, up and down stairs, in and out of elevators... it's all a trade off.

1000% agree. I have one as well, and it wouldn't kill them to add even a 1/2" rubber disc in the stem to take SOME of the bump out. So disappointed when they dropped the new design. :(

Congrats on the double purchase. Now was a good time to jump the gun - don't think the E500 has been cheaper than the current Black Friday price. I'm sure you'll find the E500 to be especially awesome when you need a little more acceleration and speed uphill while the pneumatic tires on the X7 Pro deals better with road vibrations.

There is mechanical braking in the rear by pressing down above the back wheel.
@mikeg3950
@mikeg3950 Жыл бұрын
The scooter actually DOES have a mechanical brake. You stomp on the rear fender and it rubs against the tire but it’s t designed that way and works in an emergency.
@eRideHero
@eRideHero 9 ай бұрын
True that. Technically it has. I personally always try to avoid friction brakes. In an emergency where electronics fail, it is still subpar to a drum brake.

You're 💯 100% RIGHT✅ Excellent reviews.☝️ See you again soon. I have one so I know it.🏆 I have installed 1" semi soft foam on the deck.This way rough road vibration was reduced by a nice ~50%⁉️ Also slapped on gell grips on the handle bars thus reduced more unpleasant vibrations by 50% or more. The NEODYMIUM magnets highly increase the motors Speed & TORQ⚠️✅ Be carefull with this light weight little beast.☝️It can take off in a hurry with that speed & torq. Easily on a 15% hill with 150lbs✅ Very much like the Vsett8 8+ does!!! The engine/motor brakes are very efficient & powerfull. You can adjust it by the left hand thumb controller. Soft light slow braking or fast/high torque & powerfull one. Amaisingly smooth braking system 👍👍✅. No extra break leavers. Don't have drum nor disc breaks. Not needed. Has a rear step on friction break if needed. Over all maintenance free. A truly carefree machine. Ride safe & healthy. Cheers.😂

The Unagi E500 (dual motor) scooter is TERRIBLE compared to my Xiaomi. Forgetting the price difference of Xiaomi costing a fraction of the Unagi. The only plus on it is that it climbs hills much better than the Xiaomi. The minuses are (1) feels much heavier than Xiaomi, (2) very rough ride to the point of unbearable when going on NYC roads (Xiaomi doesn’t have suspension but its inflated tires absorb most small cracks in the road), (3) no cruise control (in a $1000 scooter?), (4) no drum brake? (I really like Xiaomi’s dual braking feature when it activates both electronic & drum brake when you press the drum brake). The “no cruise control” and the “real rough ride” is a deal breaker for me so I’m returning it after 1 day of commuting with it. I’m going to look at UScooter GT/TWOW - everyone keeps raving about it! I’m really looking for a Xiaomi that would fly up hills like the Unagi and be as light as possible.

Sorry to hear you're not enjoying the E500. It certainly isn't for everyone but I do sincerely think it has value (just in different areas than most competitors). As you say, the ride quality quickly deteriorates if the roads get just a little poor. Having tested the GT SE myself (review on my channel), I can say it's a beast. It's not as quick off the line as the E500 but the top speed is higher (around 23 mph in my testing) and the spring suspension helps with vibrations. Spec-wise, you definitely get more for your money, but it all comes down to what features you're looking for.

@@eRideHero thank you. I'll definitely take a look at your review of GT SE. Do you have any recommendations for: 1. light scooter for carrying up and down stairs 2. can climb hills well 3. has a good ride quality 4. cruise control Doesn't need to be fast, doesn't need to have great acceleration, doesn't need to have very long range

@@johnstover4584 I ended up getting the GT SE almost a year ago. Have put on about 200 miles on it now. Works great! Am really happy with my purchase. Great hill climbing ability and it easily goes about 25 mph with me being 6’3 220lbs. The only thing I don’t love about it is that there are 3 ways to brake and I’m a fan of simplicity so don’t like the idea of having to decide whether to use hand brake or electric brake or foot brake. Am trying to develop muscle memory to always use hand brake with electric brake but really find myself using electric brake most of the time.

@jeromeknapp9934
@jeromeknapp9934 3 жыл бұрын
I've got a Apollo Explore, vsett 10+, and trust me, the Unagi E500 is not overrated- it’s in a different class for people with different needs. The e500’s portability, ease of use, and reliability make it a practical scooter for city dwellers who want transportation- not a hobby. One can carry it on public transit without violating norms, bring it on an elevator and into the office without angering staff, and even put it in a shopping cart at the grocery store. And you can manage that regardless of gender. My wife can tote it as easily as I do. It's the best in that class. Not as fast or long range as a 50lb/20kg+ scooter, but it has beautiful acceleration, and it can fit into people's lives the way a beefy pneumatic tire scooter can not. And you won't find a better folding mechanism anywhere. Plus the other hardware doesn’t need a hobbyist’s devoted tinkering, and its got terrific water resistance.
@_djavs
@_djavs 3 жыл бұрын
The Apollo City, or even the Apollo Ghost are great scooters, no doubt about that, but what the Unagi brings to the table is obviously the dual motor setup, but also the fact that many people will refer to this scooter as the Tesla or Apple of two-wheeled electric vehicles
