In this video we will be modelling a stone arch bridge. The bridge is made from Styrofoam, which is low cost and easy to work with. This bridge, or viaduct is designed used a modular approach, almost like LEGO, which makes it possible to fit onto any model railroad, warhammer gaming board or combine with LEGO or make a fantasy diorama.

I will try this method on my o gauge layout for my 4 to 6 feet long inclined runs going from my lower level to my upper level. Takes time but saves huge amount of dollars over store bought walls and pillars. You are an unbelievably ingenious and skilled artist.

I really like how you take very simple and unique methods and make them work beautifully. Is this bridge museum quality? May be not. Does this look great? YES! I'll possibly never need a bridge like that in foreseeable future, but this will remain in my list of references. Cheers! Kaustav

Hi Martin, Fantastic design and the result is very realistic. Well done ! Just one remark: you can omit the use of plaster by just mixing PVA glue in the color blend you put on the foam. It ads some texture as does the plaster but the process is faster.... and it never cracks for it's more flexible. Greetings and thanks for sharing.

Your workmanship and attention to detail is fantastic with great results . I have been watching you use that tool you made for the vertical lines in the bricks . It would seem you could modify the tool to imprint the whole brick or multiples at once by cutting the tab off so its level with the holder you made , have different sizes . If a tool for this does not already exist there needs to be , you can have the patent but i want a sample from the first production run . lol .

I wish you would not use the wording "EASY" in your video titles. Looks like you have way more patients to make all the stone patterns on all the pieces. It would take me weeks and I'd try to find a cookie cutter to just stamp large areas, but then it would have to be able to form to non-flat shapes too! Your results always look so realistic and fit the scale you are working with. Master builder for sure!

Did you have any particular existing construction in mind when you designed this? or is this just a design of various architecture you have seen. I like the way the structure makes sense, as in, it doesn't look like it needs magic to keep it in place. Thanks for showing this.
@marklinofsweden
@marklinofsweden 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! It’s a mix of different constructions adapted to the reality on my layout. I don’t think this construction would be possible to realize in real life, while the spans are too straight. The forces would be too heavy for the stone arches
