Story 2. )MIL)-OP reminds me so much of my MIL. Both are wonderful women! When I had my twins my MIL stayed with us for 4 weeks. I don't think I would have survived those 4 weeks without her. She did the cleaning, laundry, cooking, and anything else she could so I could strictly concentrate on the babies and sleeping. I cried when she finally went home, not because I had to start doing everything, but because her selfless act allowed me to bond with my twins those first 4 weeks in a way I never would have had she not come to help. When we had our youngest, she came and stayed with us, but wasn't as busy. Mostly because ot was a single birth, the twins were 7, my husband didn't travel as much, and I was an old pre by then. However, she still did help a lot, especially with keeping the twins busy, helping with homework, and with laundry. I absolutely won the biggest prize with my MIL. Now, my mom, well lets just say after both births, she was with me for a week each time,. She ate a lot, watched a lot of TV, and changed a couple diapers.

Even if that wasn't what bad friend was going for. This is just a relationship that has seen its course & it's time to move on. S2: Finally a good MIL story. This is what parents of adult kids should strive for. Last year my oldest had her first child & her dad & I went & stayed a week with them. We spent the time doing all the things she needed & then some. We left them with a clean fully stocked house, & well rested at least for that week. Making sure you because the mom/MIL you wished you had is what we call breaking the generational curse. Changing how things were done to you so no one else has to go through what you did. It's so lovely to see someone putting that into practice. Not enough of us are doing that.

She checks in with what they need or want, gives gentle advice about letting dil have her autonomy to get up and do things instead of insisting she needs to stay stationary, and especially respecting their approach to parenthood and how they want things organized and cleaned. The way OP was able to very plainly admit that the days of parenthood along care of a baby and being a first time parent were far behind her and hazy I think goes a long way to being able to actually be the help they need at this time.

I am so glad to hear a good mil story. I wish more people in the world would think like that. She sounds like a truely nice person.

I’m making a late dinner (oops, ADHD strikes again!), baking some thc cookies (legal here, 🥳), and finishing off my schmancy $$$$ birthday chocolate. It’s been a good birthday for 46. Sushi with Mom for lunch & several RadAF thrift store scores! There was a dire moment home alone with a bunch of stuff going wrong when I almost spiraled into Meltdown City, but, it being my birthday, I managed the Will to talk myself away from the precipice. 🤘. Perhaps now that I've done it once, I can do it again the next time I start berating myself for existing, lol. Thanks for entertaining me while I cooked! 💚Loved💚 the Princess wedding, glad they’re ditching Darth Siddious the Ex-Friend.

I can honestly see where the ex was coming from. I'm a realist, and if I had a dress from my late father that I realistically couldn't ever wear and the opportunity presented itself, I would jump at it. If that's her thought process, she could have prevented this aggravation by just talking to the couple. But i can see that not working out, and as they say, "better to ask forgiveness than permission."

I’m questioning as to why she didn’t wear that one to her own wedding
@starbird3939 Жыл бұрын
@@MortalOrder saaaame. Like… why not wear the one dress.
@Kit05ify Жыл бұрын
@@MortalOrder I would think it's a similar issue to not want to wear the dress you were going to marry another person in, or see your bride in a dress meant for a different groom (much like many people would not likely be happy with a ring that was meant for a previous partner). May not be the case, but it's a possible reason.
@MortalOrder Жыл бұрын
@@Kit05ify that’s fair, but you can’t have it both ways (not wearing the dress to your own wedding out of respect to your partner/ wearing the dress to your ex fiancés wedding out of respect for your father)
@Kit05ify Жыл бұрын
@@MortalOrder very true and I highly doubt that the choice to wear that specific dress was an innocent one by any means but that's a whole different speculation.

I have to say Story 2 was just Awesome! Thankfully, my MIL was a wonderful woman and these stories of MIL'S just wanting to help is also Awesome. 😻

Story 2: LOVE this MIL/Mom. I have been blessed with a wonderful daughter in law that I love every bit as much as my son. I always followed their lead with my grandbaby and was welcomed to enjoy her to my heart's content these past 6 years. (I'll admit I have selective hearing when they say I spoil her! 😂) OP is in for a beautiful relationship with her grandbaby!

I'm proud to say I was that mil. Not pushy, did what they needed me to do and then stayed out of the way for them to have family time. My granddaughter is 8 and I'm still their support. G'daughter spends every other weekend with me and my husband so that mom and dad can have time to themselves.

Story 2 was absolutely wonderful. I only hope I will be like this if or when my kids decide to have kids.

Oh Mark, you don’t need an excuse to wear a blue velvet tux and a flava flave clock necklace. 😂

2nd story just made me 😢 a bit coz I'm 5months postpartum (actually 5 tomorrow lol) and I had a C-section. I had an amazing support but also didn't wanna sleep coz I felt I'll miss out on something while I slept 😂, so I looked like a zombie 😅 but it was by choice. I can't imagine not having help during that period
