I love Mark's enthusiasm for Nightmare Neighbours. It's a combination of his enjoyment of the petty drama and his own neighbour waffles. I hope that we can get more of them as stories become available.

I live in Brazil and have a dog, we moved into an apartment complex and asked the complex manager if she knew of cats for adoption. She introduced me to a (very) young lady and her 3 (pre-teen) sisters living a few buildings away who had 2 litters of kittens. Thing is, of the dozen of cats they have, I apparently got the one their kids loved the most and since my dog is big, they were concerned, so I let the girls come see that Kitty the then kitten was ok and Gringo the dog was harmless. Gringo is that dog who loves everybody and is good with kids, so he quickly became a local celeb and all the kids on the apartment complex literally shout his name and come running to pet him. Problem is, the 3 younger sisters AND their friends started to knock on my door demanding to see both Gringo and Kitty. Gringo loves the attention, but Kitty is terrified because the kids don't leave her alone and I just want some quiet time to chill with my pets. Even when I ignore them, the kids came almost everyday and keep knocking on my door for 10-15 minutes straight even if I fake there is no one home. Then if the kids do see me they'd complain that I didn't open the door to let them in, even when I told them I was busy and I'd tell their parents when it was ok to visit (note: I NEVER ACTUALLY GOT TO KNOW THEIR PARENTS! They just let the kids roam freely after school and I was also worried about they ending up "going to play" on some predator's place. I mean, as a single petit Asian woman I might not look threatening BUT there are predators from any genders and ethnic groups. And if anything ever happens to any of those kids, I could end up as a suspect). Since I don't know those kids' parents, I asked the complex manager for some advice and she told the families. That finally made the kids refrain from knocking on my door whenever they felt like it.

This sub makes me really nervous. Like, I'm about to spend a week canvassing the neighbourhood about problem people, before I move. And, after 2 decades of living in houses, I am NOT looking forward to apartments, again. 😭 The one potential good thing is if you get into a building into which utilities are included in rent. Taking a 4 hour long, scalding shower is a luxury I haven't felt in a long, long while.

I love the nicknames people give to their neighbors, like “Coneman.” My wife and I had “Dump Truck Asshole” and “Alarm Asshole.” Dump Truck Asshole would park his dump truck in the fire lane right in front of our building. It was a full sized dump truck with a diesel engine. He would let it idle for up to a half an hour. It was right outside my balcony so the noise and smell of the exhaust was a problem. He stopped after I called the cops on him. Alarm Asshole had a broken car alarm that would go off every half hour throughout the night, it would keep everyone awake. Despite this being a violation of a local noise ordinance, the cops didn’t really do anything. In fact the police dispatcher told me I should contact the HOA. I was a renter, the landlord didn’t have their contact info. I think eventually he moved out. Glad I don’t live in that apartment anymore

I have one. We used to live next to a lovely old woman. Sadly, she passed away and we got neighbours who were... significantly less nice. Their front garden was trashed. They screamed at each other constantly. Their children were feral - they once took a dump on the public path outside their house and started playing with it with toy cutlery. But this story is about the wife's brother and his friends. It was the early hours of the morning and they were congregated outside the house with their motorbikes, drinking, smoking, and yelling. My mum, a single woman with two small kids, came out to politely ask them to be a bit quieter since said small children (one of which being me) were trying to sleep. One of these men advanced on her, ignoring her repeated warnings to stay away. I don't want to consider what he planned to do. Enter the hero of the story: my german shepherd collie cross, Jinx. Now this dog was a lovable moron. In the first few weeks we got her, she destroyed an expensive pair of shoes and the landline, and when thrown a ball, would let it bounce off her face with no reaction. Absolute twit of a dog. And whenever she went out, it was a charge to a chorus of barking. But not this time. Jinx stalked out of the house, went down the garden path to the public, stood there staring this creep down, and snarled. My mum says she never heard that sound come out of Jinx before nor since, but it sounded she was about to go for the kill. The man, cowed, retreated, and Jinx escorted my mum back inside and was there for comfort when she broke down crying. They tried to report us for a dangerous dog, but the investigators took one look at my soft as pudding goofball and dismissed that claim altogether. RIP Jinx, you were the best dog a girl could ask for.

My dad is the neighbour from hell. Unkempt yard, holier than thou, cars and scrap everywhere... but what takes the cake is the semi trailer. When my grandma died my hoarder dad decided he wanted a small house's worth of stuff, but it wouldn't all fit in our house because it was the same size at my grandma's house. So he did the only reasonable thing and got a semi trailer and dumped it in our driveway. It was really easy to tell where our house was and anyone who complained got an earful about how this is America and he does what he wants. He's been petitioned more than once to get garbage out of the yard, whether it be dilapidated cars or rusted safes. It's only then that he'll begrudgingly let things go, but it'll be quickly replaced by something else.

This just happened yesterday. I was going outside to smoke (cigarette, it was too early to get high, it was like noon) and as soon as I stepped into the hallway (our doors all face inside) in could hear a bunch of people yelling at each other. I glanced their way (I mean they were loud) but barely a glance. Well a few hours later I was going downstairs to talk/hang with my neighbor. One of the earlier yellers came at me, cussing me out for calling the manager on them. I stopped her (because I don't put up with anyone's shit) and informed her that I was not the one who called on them. That personally I didn't give a shit if they were fighting, didn't care if they killed each other. Told her, "We live in the same complex, that's it. You mean nothing to me, as long as you don't bother me, I don't care about you. That being said, you come at me like this again, and you'll get my full rath" She stood there, not knowing what to say, I finished with, "You have the day you deserve" I stopped telling people to have a nice day years ago, I wish them the day they deserve, and let Karma sort it out from there🤷♀️

I have a few petty ones from my Neighbor From Hell: They have four vehicles for two people, grabbed one is the Nightmare Neighbor's husband's work truck. The other three are: A Chrysler 300, a Jeep and now a giant pickup truck with an extended cab. We share a two car "driveway" , parking spots, rather, at the rear of our single level condos. She'd parked this huge pickup not only way over on my side, but crooked. Enough that I double checked to see if she'd hit my car and I had to be extra cautious backing out. I even took pictures thinking I might show the HOA. She'd been out walking her dog, she talks extremely loud, so could hear her. I left and when I came back, she'd drawn on the pavement with children's sidewalk chalk a line going between our vehicles and then written on her side in all capitals: "MY PARKING SPACE!!! MY PARKING SPACE!!!" 😂😂😂 I was like WTF?! lol how childish can you be?! It didn't last long, though, as it has started to rain. I was hoping he husband would see it, since he and I have talked on multiple occasions if we're giving each other enough space since he usually parks his work truck there. And there's a TON of space between her truck and the wall of her garage! I normally park way over, more than I need to, towards my garage. The other thing, Cupboard People: She's related to them! LOL she slams the cupboards EVERY TIME she touches them! Slams things into and out of them! We share a wall and or condos mirror each other, so my kitchen wall is her kitchen wall. I've never heard so much banging of cupboards in my life! She'll slam a cupboard door four, five, or more times in a row to annoy me lol She'll tell her dog to piss and shit on my lawn, which is just ridiculous. They know I don't have a dog and it's just causing the landscapers to step in/pick up her shit. OR cause the neighbor's kids to step in shit. Plus she knows if I'm in my living room or bedroom I can hear her because she talks that loud and the windows are that thin. When she gossips about me with the neighbor's out front, I can hear probably 65-75% of it, sometimes more, depending on where she's standing. If she wants me to hear, like when she said she was pouring into my window the other week, she'll say my nickname. I keep a journal.

I bought my first house when I was about 25. The area wasn't great but it wasn't dangerous or anything. After moving in I had the pleasure to meet the alcoholic lady across the street. I was having a BBQ with my friends on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I left my driveway gate open (last time I ever did) and this lady saw that as an invitation to walk into my garden and come talk to use. She was slurring her words and stumbling about (I never saw her any other way). She came to warn us about how we couldn't trust anyone round here and how everyone was out to get her. She was crying and talking all sorts of nonsense. Honestly my neighbours were lovely and she was the only one that caused a nuisance. She would stamble up and down the road and nearly got her self run over all the time. She would scream and argue with her friend. She would also come knock on your door and ask you to call her a taxi so she could go down town. Then ask to 'borrow' money for said taxi.

my family lives near a bar in our current town. we moved in here in 1999 or 2000, i was too young to remember anyway. for too long we had to put up with drunk fights, people walking through our yard, and people parking in front of our driveway. after one too many incidents during the time our town's main street was repaved, the place ended up being shut down for 30 days (it was even in the news, just look up waterford wi bar closed temporarily) and since they reopened we havent really had any problems. and the bar got shut down for several reasons: serving alcohol off property (aka letting the patrons bring their alcohol outside which you need a permit for), smoking within a nonsmoking area (they let people smoke inside, the bar is attached to the front of the house and the owners live in the attached house), noise complaints, drunks trespassing in neighbor's yards, and throwing their fourth of july parties without a legal permit for 18 years. and the owner was drinking at his own bar, which is a big no-no. at least now we can safely say that there probably wont be too much that will happen for a bit, but we did have a guy once try to break into our house while we were home and my dog (a black labrador/great pyrenees mix) jumped up onto the door and shut the door on this guy (our door is weird. if its locked inside then its unlocked outside and if its unlocked inside then its locked outside. its been like that since we moved in)

I had a nightmare neighbor a few years ago. Apparently the house we had bought belonged to their daughter an owner or two before us (she had two not very well behaved children that would scream constantly whenever she visited her parents next door and would always glare at us). The neighbor lady always wore a muumuu and would constantly be on our case (I get the feeling they didn't like that we were living in their "daughter's house"). They had 3-4 dogs, a one small one named Mr Barkley (I'll leave you to imagine why), and 2-3 bigger dogs (think Pitbulls or Labs). They never walked their dogs or played with them, just left them outside in their tiny fenced in yard. Did I mention their yard was full of tacky junk and unkept plants? Literally nowhere for the dogs to run or play. The dogs would be outside for, on average, 8 hours a day. Continuously barking because they were bored and uncared for. It got to the point where we had to call the cops, and they threatened to take the dogs. Moved pretty shortly after that, but I hope their dogs were taken from them. Edit: Forgot to mention that the bigger dogs would slam themselves against our fence and at one point bent/broke the wooden planks. They also tried to dig under it.

I personally had plenty of bad experiences with obnoxious, disrespectful, narcissistic, partying, loud sex having and outright dangerous druggies and and gun shooting neighbours, that I've had more than enough. Listening to these scary ones gives me anxiety ;_; I mostly skip videos with this genre. I find it endearing though how you get so excited ^_^ Good for you I guess :D

A neighbor came in, drunk, and peed on the floor in my room. Including my, at the time, favorite hoodie. >:(

Mark, I've got a nightmare neighbors story for you. If you like it, feel free to use it for a video. When I was in college, I still lived at home with my dad and older sister. We rented a house in this quiet little part of town. Well, it was quiet until the house next door got rented by a bunch of college guys who, we presume, got mommy and daddy to pay for it so they could have the freedom of not living on campus. They were loud. They were obnoxious. They didn't care about the neighbors around them. They would throw loud, late-night, drunken parties. Every trash day, there were MOUNTAINS of empty beer cases and other booze bottles. Several times, I went out to ask them to be quieter, because my bedroom was in the corner of the house that was closest to their back yard, where most of the noise came from. If it was a good day, they'd quiet down for a few minutes before getting louder. It was rarely a good day. We started calling the police on them. They took the police a little more seriously than they took us. A little. It got to the point where we were actually given permission to dial 911 to get an officer to respond to their house--apparently we weren't the only ones in the neighborhood calling the police. I never personally did that, but I don't know if my dad ever did. Around this time, the decorative tree in our front yard that flowered every year began to die. I rather expect that they'd use it as a pissing post during their many drunken parties. Or else they poured booze on it to kill off the roots. Whatever the reason, pretty sure they were responsible. The coup de grace came when I wasn't there, but my father told me about it. It was a spring day in southwestern Missouri and, being the midwest, the sky can get all kinds of rotation happening in the spring. One day, there was a tornado watch/warning and, as is tradition in the midwest, all the homeowners went outside and walked to the ends of their driveways to look up at the sky. While they were out there, one of the college boys runs out of the house in a panic, calling out to everyone, "Does anyone have a basement? We don't have a basement! There's a tornado and we don't have a basement. Does anyone have a basement?" My dad said that it was like this big choreographed moment that had been painstakingly practiced for weeks and weeks. Everyone turned to look at college boy, and IN UNISON, turned on their heels and walked silently back to their houses. Dad had to choke back a laugh as college boy said, "I'M NOT KIDDING, WE DON'T HAVE A BASEMENT!" Now, the water table being what it was in that part of town, no one had a basement. But college boy didn't know that. They moved out shortly after. I'm sorry I missed that.
