The time spend building this and showing us is much appreciated! I used to build planes with my dad when I was 8. He passed away 12 years ago (I'm 36 now), and this has given me the kick I needed to build a plane again. Thank you so much for showing us the process. I really enjoyed your videos! I will be looking out for more!

Thanks for such a lovely comment, pleased that you enjoyed the videos, and there are plenty more to come. I learnt to build and fly with my dad, guess we both have some good memories of that. If you are subscribed to the channel you should be seeing my new build next week, hope you enjoy that as well, its a bit different!

My Dad and I built our first when I was about 9, by 11 I was building Guillow;s kits on my own but my first scratch build plans only was when I was about 20. My Dad passed when I was 32, about 39 years back. I haven't built a plane in a few years but as soon as we get settled (we're traveing) I plan on building an oldtimer 1/2 A free flight.

Thanks very much, really appreciate you taking the time to comment. I try and not too much flight time on the videos, as I am concerned it may not be of interest. at first it flew a bit sluggish, as I needed to increase the aileron throws a little, but now it flies great, very manuverable and climbs lovely with that 61 on the front.

Hi, thanks for the comment, really appreciated. The white/orange control snakes I get from slecuk.com, they are cheap and good to use. The CA hinges I get from The World Models in HK. But just as easy to get a sheet of mylar and cut your own.

Well done Mark and thank you for all the build videos. Excellent workmanship. Flying wise...you are like me...fly it the right way up, dont roll and keep it in one piece!! Flying inverted is on my bucket list. I am 71 now so running out of time. Might not happen. What wing span is the model please? I am currently building the Big Stik 20. Nearly finished with an OS 25. Cannot afford the nitro now for a 10cc. Always wanted a Merco 61!!!! Peter. Sorry for the chit chat.

Hi Peter, thanks for your comment, great to hear from you, really appreciate your kind words, the Stik was a 60" inch wingspan. The 20 will be a great flier I am sure, good luck with the maiden. I have built a couple of these in the past, but never to this standard of workmanship. What weight did you end up with? They do in general fly well, and your specimen is looking really good. Congratulations, and thank you for sharing.
@MarkRobinson5553 жыл бұрын
Pleased you liked it, thanks for the kind comment its appreciated. It came in on the plans target weight of 96 Oz, but I did need to add a little weight to the tail unfortunately as the TT61 engine I was using, which is a great running engine, is quite heavy. If I was to build again I would probably use a lighter engine, mayby a 50 size or perhaps shorten the nose a little. But it flew lovely, very responsive, love it!
