So happy ive found this build video. its been really helpful for me as doing a Dancing wings piper cub 1.2mtr wingspan onmy my second build and im overall happy the dancing wheels kit. only lacking in instructions. the kit itself appears really well made and all decent parts. This series has been so usefull as help and ideas of doing same thing yet from a different angle. Many thanks looking great From Me and my dog Max on thhe East coast lincs UK. 🙂🙂🙂

Hi Mark, I need to make a f/g cowl for a rebirthed Kawasaki KI61 that was abandoned into the club rubbish bin. This vid and your discription of making cockpit canopy have been a great help. because of the size, I plan to use a polystyrene block for the plug to use as a blank, I will let you know how I go. Hi, I'M trying to make a spare canopy for a Great Planes Extra 300S before the maiden flight...for obvious reason....lol. would you use the same procedure to do the mold. And are you using only plâtre de Paris or other plaster material. How would you protect the mold so that the fiberglass canopy can be remove easily....thanks.

Would have been helpful if you gave the different weights if the cloth and the number of layers

I used 2 different weights, 3/4 oz first then a heavier 3 oz, and I just kept building it up until I though it was thick enough. Hope that helps.

I’ve used a David plane for many years. However, one cannot get the blades anymore in the US. I was told by the company that due to a liability issue, they cannot mail the blades.

If you look on google there are a few companies in the US that sell them, some being surfboard type places. Don't know what I would do without my plane!

This was a very helpful video. Prior to watching, I did not know how to make a fiberglass cowl. The plastic cowl on my first gas airplane, disintegrated over time and I stopped flying it since it had an OS40 engine just protruding out the front. The cowl makes a big difference in the look of the airplane. With this video, I am tempted to make a cowl. Just one question: Did you brush 30 minute epoxy into the fiberglass sheets inside the plaster mold to form the cowl? I am new to building fiberglass structures. I would have liked to see you preparing the layers of fiberglass. Perhaps an idea for a future video? Thank you for making this video and showing us the general technique.

Thank you very much for the comment, its really appreciated. Yes, I used 30 minute epoxy, but thinned down with a little 70% ethanol. Only a small amount is needed. Good luck with making a cowl
