After sighting in at 60 feet, I could easily cover 5 shots with a nickel kzbin.infoUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL ! Truly a pleasure to shoot! Scope was easy to adjust for eye relief. Only problem the varmints must have seen it delivered lol!Update: So impressed with shot groups at 30 yards I purchased a Hammers 3×9 with adjustable Objective scope! Now a true nail driver!

Savage make the only left-handed bolt guns at a cheap price that are as quality and as accurate as stuff twice the price. And for that, they have my dollar.

All these rifles will shoot just fine for deer hunting. But of the 3 we've gotten best accuracy from the Savage. In fact, my son's older Savage "Edge" 30-6 is the most accurate rifle in my home, out of about 15 more expensive deer rifles.

I recently bought a Ruger American 30.06 rifle like the one you showed in this video. The gun shop also had a Savage version as well, but I'm the sort of person who usually always picks the firearm that saves me a few bucks. Looking back now kind of I wished I'd went for the Savage rifle, but honestly I'm still satisfied with the Ruger.

I recently purchased an accutrigger axis and I have had an American 17hmr for over two years. Not a joke but they are both capable of .5 moa groups with factory ammo. I was always hesitant about guns like this but I am not hesitant to buy savages and have always loved all my Rugers

Some years ago I bought the (at that time) cheaper version of the Savage Model 10/110, the Stevens Model 200 in .223 Remington. Crappy stock that I replaced with a Boyd's laminate stock. This rifle was extremely accurate with premium target ammo but for some reason that I can't remember now, I wanted to convert it to a larger caliber. I replaced the barrel, bolt head and magazine components for .243 Winchester Used a heavy target barrel. Good shooter but I wasn't satisfied so I replaced the barrel again with one in .308 Winchester. Put a "Rifle Basix" trigger in and a steel trigger guard. Did some more modifications to numerous to list here. Suffice it to say, I am very happy with the final rifle.

Savage axis is a great rifle. The action is smooth and shoots great. The ruger has a cold hammer barrel which is better than both, and the barrel is 90% of what matters in accuracy. Id go with the axis, then the ruger.

One thing to consider is service after the sale. When things go wrong who will take care of you better. I know from experience that Ruger will take care of you no matter what. Their service is one of the best in the industry. I've never used Savage yet so I can't say anything from a personal standpoint but I haven't heard anything bad about them from anyone. Remington on the other hand has universally been considered the worst for at least two decades. Having examined several new Savage rifles I can say that the quality appears first class. My personal opinion is a toss up between Ruger or Savage and buy whatever you think suits your eye appeal and needs.

We bought the Savage 30.06 for my Son. We look at the Ruger 1st and found it to be a "cheaper" feeling gun. The main thing is he loves the rifle and is in Osage Co. hunting deer. We like the Savage and would recommend it.

They're all "cheap feeling" guns lol. I hunt with a Ruger American but simply because it does the job. I also have a few model 70s which are in a class of their own. These cheap budget guns are really good tools but that's about it. None of them are quality lifelong heirloom type guns and never will be but they do serve a purpose.

Savage axis II is what I have with adjustable accu trigger and I think it performs really good out of the box. The bolt action is very reliable and cycles great every time, however it has too much play and it’s not the smoothest. Out of this 3, I’ll go with Savage. When I purchased mine it also came with already mounted scope.

There is a kit to lighten bolt lift and also glades armory makes an aftermarket bolt handle that is much longer. I ordered both before I even shot the gun. But I had already tried the glades armory bolt handle on my TC venture and it make a huge difference.

I've looked at and handled the Ruger and the Savage extensively mainly because at the price point and calibers that I might consider (for Elk & Muleys) they are the only ones that are offered in LH. Overall the Ruger is the winner IMO. I think some commenter's perception that it feels "cheap" is because it is a pretty light gun; which is fine with me, since I do most of my big-game hunting between 8,000 & 12,000 feet above sea level. The fit, finish and operation is superior to the Savage, particularly the bolt design and feel, and the bedding system in the stock, which is very solid. The cheapest 700 to meet my needs is going to be well over $200.00 more than Ruger (which can be found in the mid- $300's) ...and as legendary as the 700 action is; that 3-lug Ruger bolt/receiver is nothing to scoff at. It's smooth and solid. Mine should be here any day now.

My friend had a Ruger Hawkeye 308 it was a good gun but one day me and shot his Ruger 308 and my Remington 700 Walnut stock ADL 270 and the Remington grouped much better at 100 and 200 yards and the trigger pull was much smoother. After shooting my Remington he traded his Ruger for Remington 700 308. just like my gun and he loves it. I've know a lot of people that had trouble with how some of there Rugers group. Which I've also herd people complain about the new Remingtons without the free floating barrels that they don't group like the old 700's with the floating barrels. I also have a Savage Axis in 223. and for the price it's a good gun the trigger pull isn't good as the Remington but I'm old school and don't like the new Accu-trigger and it's a value rifle. I've not shot the Ruger American so I hafta shoot one.

That dadgum 308 of mine surely isn't a one in a million, but I'm here in tell you that Ruger American is still punching out incredible groups are 300 meters. If you want a genuine tack driving deer and hog rifle, look no further, just be sure to use the Winchester 180 power points, This is a light, exceptionally accurate rifle with a 22 in. barrel, and you won't have to chase em down, I can guarantee you of that with the 180 Winchester power points.

I have the Ruger in .308 and Savage in .270. The magazine for my Ruger has feed issues, it's like the spring is too week. Sometimes when I try to bolt a round, the next one doesn't push up high enough to be caught. The magazine installation on the Axis is clunky. I much prefer the Ruger overall over the Axis. Though both guns are great for the money, can't go wrong with either one.

I just can't quit bragging about my 308 Ruger American. I shoot 180 gr. Winchester power- points and all I've done is lighten the trigger and put a vortex crossfire scope on it. That gun has shot 3 rounds into a cloverleaf, or a single jagged hole at 109 yds or 100 meters and I ain't kidding either. Exceptional accuracy with this ammo!

I have a Savage Axis and did several videos with it on my channel. I had issues with the extractor out of the box. Replaced that. If anyone buys this gun, they HAVE to work on the trigger or replace it: no doubt about that! The magazine wiggles a bit when inserted. The bolt has wiggle when fully extended. Not a huge deal for a budget gun but those get better as you buy a "better" gun. The trigger guard is plastic. I didn't get a heavy barrel but if you range shoot often it's worth it. The stock is not great. If you use a tripod, it's best to replace. My best groups were 1.5 MOA at 100 yds. I haven't replaced the stock yet, but I might be doing so soon and seeing if that tightens groups. After all of that plus your labor, I'm not sure it's a scorching hot deal, but I can see why it's a popular choice.

I have not had much luck with Remingtons, at all. The Savages and Rugers are another story. I have a Ruger Ranch in 450 Bushmaster and a Savage Axis in 270 I bought used for $125 and both shoot well above their class. The Ruger was Awesome right out of the box. I mounted a 2x7 Riton Primal scope on it and at 100 yards it just shoots a big ragged hole with those 45 cal bullets. The Savage had been neglected and required a good cleanup and I added a Pentax 2.5x10 scope on it. I added a $20 M*Carbo trigger kit for a crisp 2.5 pound trigger and that rifle shoots sub moa groups with my handloads as long as I do my part. I would also like to add the T/C Compass to your list, I have one in 7mm/08 with a Vortex 3x9 Crossfire scope on it and again it shoots better than I can producing groups on par with rifles costing 3 to 4 times as much. All are very smooth and fit and finish aren't bad either. Great rifles in all.

Military background. I love ruger. During and after my OEF OIF deployments I poured over tons of forums, reviews, etc etc and had experience with all 3 companies. No personal negative experiences with any of these brands but i knew Remington was suffering badly from quality control issues and had been for about a decade. Savage was on the upstroke. I had a good friend that was USMC Recon Sniper. He recommended savage and my brother had bought a savage the year prior. Long story short i got the savage 10 trophy hunter xp and have zero regrets. Just got my wife an axis for Christmas. Not sure if Remington has fixed their problems but I love my Savage. Ruger has always been very respectable. Bottom line the only one of these 3 I would have any concerns with is the Remington

The scope that comes on the 700 might work good for the .243 but the 7mm mag I bought shattered the scope after 8 shots 😂😂

Done lots of research and just my personal opinion.... I’d highly recommend the Ruger Trophy Hunter XP! It’s a step up from the Axis. Much better stock and just a good looking extremely accurate gun! I love the Remington 700 !!! But!... Remington has really really went down on their quality! I’d really look at the Ruger rifle ! Great gun at a very reasonable cost! Just do one thing.., take the scope off that comes with gun and throw away the cheap rings and bases and get some good quality steel rings and bases and you will be good to go!!!!

I have been using a Remington Model 700 30-.06 for over a decade. It has been deadly accurate, and just this year I dropped the biggest buck of my life with it. That being said, it is a heavy rifle to pack. I don't know if it's just because of how old it is, but compared to other rifles I own, it's just a heavy gun. We picked up a Savage Axis XP 7mm-.08 for the wife a couple years ago, and the weight difference is ridiculous. Her rifle as also been just as accurate, and she can easily pack it on long hikes in and out of the back country. As much as I love my Remington, I am highly considering replacing it with a Savage.

My God man! Heresy! Lol. J/k. It has gotten crazy with the availability of cheap, light, and accurate bolt guns. If yall are hunting where a 7mm-08 is a good call, I wouldn't blame you for ditching the old Rem. 30-06 for a lighter rifle. DO NOT get rid of that model 700. These new guns are awesome for price and performance. They are however, throw aways. Just like cars nowadays. They are not built for longevity. They are built to be awesome today, but trash tomorrow. Even compared to the new model 700s. Your guns hardened components and overall quality will always make a gunsmith smile, and has the potential to be a heirloom gun. Even if you don't have kids, you can teach a person how to hunt with that gun, and long after you are gone.....that gun will uphold your legacy far into the future. I have safe queens that come out to teach to young ones. I don't even really hunt much anymore. But I have guns that carry the stories and legacy of men that died long ago. Men that I never met, that lived and died wayyyy before my time; they still live on in the Great firearms that I own. I know friends that are the same. My buddy Clint knows very little about his Grandfather. But...the probably embellished exploits of his great uncle on his moms side live on in detail through a Rem. 870 pump gun, a Steven's bolt .22, and a winchester lever action .30-30. NONE of these guns have ever been lackluster in any way while I was present. The daily use of these tools while we were younger, would be considered "torture test" on KZbin today. Now that we are older, we hold more reverence for these treasures from the past. I still had it out with my ex-wife, when she found out that my 10yr old was released into the wild with 500 rnds of .22 lr, and my grandads old winchester. And she was encouraged to come and grab the Steven's/savage mod. 311 20guage. SxS and some shells when there was an itch that .22 couldn't scratch. My daughter couldn't kill a squirrel, but she has been instilled with pride in her heritage, and understands that those of us that would kill for, expect her to do the same in our absence. She is so comfortable with those tools, and their capabilities, that she is very well suited to defending herself. There is no fear recoil or noise. And she knows that even if she is alone, family is there with those guns. I have no worries about her hesitation if it is that kind of situation.

I would consider the Remington 783 the entry level rifle for Remington. I own the Remington 700 BDL with an aftermarket chassis system and I can get 2 inch groups at 300 yrds with this rifle.also the 700 ADL does not have the x mark pro trigger it is the regular x mark.... the pro has an allen key adjustment screw at the top of the trigger

James clark I’m not saying one rifle in the video is good... I used to buy rifles like these and if I were to buy one it would be the ruger American. I’ve bought mossberg a few times can’t say I ever will, I’d rather spend that money on an older mauser sporter that is made with quality. If you want to buy mossberg go for it my opinion mossberg is junk, watches other reviews where the gun couldn’t even shoot 3 moa with good factory ammo..
